Tonight would have been her night off if she hadn't been called in to fill the position of one of the healers apparently the healer had taken on more than they could handle, and it had left them in a drained and weakened state. As she headed into the building, she chanced a glance up at the night sky. Clouds danced over the sky as the moon played a little peek a boo to the world below behind them. The cooler temperatures from the days heat was welcomed. Lately, she has felt pretty confined due to her sensitivity to the sun's rays. Pausing she took a moment to stand there enjoying the night. Her lips parted allowing a sigh to drift past the gentle contours of her lips. A shout brought her back from the moment of enjoyment. "I'm coming." Her voice carried with a soft lyrical hint of sound as she struggled to keep from raising it too loudly and being the cause of someone's infliction of pain. Pulling on her lab coat over the scrubs, she wore her steps now carried her inside.
The activity hit her with a rush of sound as she blinked. There were two men in the corner bickering lightly about who's fault it was that they were here. Both blamed the other and only seemed to make them angrier and quick to come to blows again. Their tension rolled off of them in waves permeating the air causing Valene to feel as if a ball of energy sat in her stomach. She couldn't stand it. Starting there she moved towards the two placing her hands upon their shoulders she sent out the calming energy of her healing powers to help sooth them and hopefully bring them down from perhaps another outburst. "Gentlemen please, There are other people here within the hospital as well as sick children could you refrain from your vulgar language and hostility?" Her smile flitted over her face as she turned to walk away. One of the nurses thanked her as she walked by with the barest hint of a whisper.
Valene was clearly distracted tonight. She stopped to stare into the night having passed the nurses station and drawing near the wall of windows that looked out into the night Why did she feel so unfocused and distracted as of late? Her solitary days had started to weight upon her, and though she felt the pull of others of her kind, she just hadn't let herself go anywhere and meet anyone yet. She stood there once more staring out into the night. "It's just too good of a night to be locked away indoors." She whispered.

Jackson emerged from the treatment cubicle nursing the light gauze bandage over his hand. He had told the doctors not to waste their time and supplies on such a minor burn but they had insisted on treating it and he was too good natured to put up a real argument. Besides, he was too concerned about how Geoff was doing. Damn that new kid for not paying proper attention to the safety drill, and damn his partner and supervisor for not noticing. Jackson frowned as he looked around for the two more experienced hands. He considered them both every bit as culpable as the dumb kid, if not more so.
His attention was drawn to the raised voices. Were they still trying to pass the buck? He was gonna have serious words with the pair of them later. He saw a healer asking them to quiet down and it was a damnable good job for them that they did or he would have taken the pair of them outside and had a 'talk' with them right now. They were lucky that this mess had put the project behind schedule again or he would have been recommending replacing the pair of them. As it was he was going to have to make sure he trained up Geoff's replacement personally. This rubbish reflected badly on him as Foreman.
He saw the healer heading over to the big windows, she looked tired and it made him feel guilty for not having shut the two men up himself, despite the fact he hadn't even been in the room at the time. He gave them both a dirty look. “This is not over.” he murmured, and despite his youth, the two older men quelled some more at his disapproving stare. “If the docs cleared you then get on home. There's gonna be hell to pay for today's fiasco and I want us caught up again by the end of the week. Now skat...!” He watched them leave in silence, though he knew their bickering would flare up again outside. Likely there would be black eyes sported tomorrow.
He walked over to where the healer stood and he heard her melancholy whisper. He placed his rough work calloused hand on her shoulder. “I'm sorry to intrude miss,” he began softly. “I just wanted to apologise for some of my team back there. They've got no manners an' less brains.” Jackson was smiling sheepishly and it made him look even younger than he was. Though he had the tanned, well muscled body of a man used to hard work, his tousled blonde hair, baby blue eyes and boyish smile made it hard to see him as anything more threatening than 'the boy next door'.

Valene stared up into the darkened night sky, she slowly started to recall each name of the stars as she forgot just how often she had whispered her prayers to them each night. Her hand lifted trailing over the glass her breath had created a gentle swirl of condensation. As she started to connect the constellations like a connect the dots game. She was use to tuning out the noise of the emergency room so she had not heard the man approaching. She had barely realized the loud den of noise had calmed down from it's loud ruckus before. Full lips pulled into a beautiful smile that actually seemed to a light her eyes the color glowing lightly. Her chest expanded as she had pulled in a deep breath. Dropping her hand back down to her side she felt the touch to her shoulder. "Hmm?" Turning that smile upon him.
This was interesting someone actually apologizing it had seemed a while since humanity had actually showed some of it's traits she loved so. Soft laughter parted her lips. Her head tilted slightly to the left with thought as she took in his features. As her gaze dropped to his hand she frowned lightly. Just a bandage? Her empathic side instantly worried he may be in pain. "Thank you, but you are not the cause of their discord." Her hand reached forward without thought taking his own. " Are you in pain? Have you not been seen yet? " The guardian in her could not just simply walk away without feeling he had been taken care of. His innocent boy next door appeal, beckoned to her instincts as she started to reach to pull back the bandage having dropped her gaze to his hand now. The glow of her eyes brightened a gentle caress slipped over his skin sending out the soothing glow from her finger tips and instantly taking his pain away. She had not healed it yet, but her intention to do so was there.
"I am Valene." She spoke offering her name as she slowly started to brush her fingers over the edge of the wound taking longer than normal to heal him. It had been a while since she opened up and spoke to someone. Her voice never raised high but the gentle lyrical lilt to it's sound danced about them soothing as she didn't wish to incite his panic. "Whom might you be?" Finally her gaze lifted up pinning him with her bright glowing gaze while she worked.

“Me?” Jackson looked momentarily surprised. “They are just trying to make themselves fell less guilty that they let Geoff get hurt.” he frowned a little in worry. “The boy may be dumb as rocks but they should have been looking out for him, I can't do every damned thing myself.” He flushed suddenly as he realised what he had just said. “Sorry about the language miss, I'm just worried about the boy. The docs haven't said anything yet about whether or not he's gonna be all-right.”
He didn't resist as she drew back the gauze from his injury, she was a healer and he was in a hospital, what kind of idiot weirded out at being treated? “It's nothing honestly,” he murmured. The wound wasn't serious, a minor burn, the main risk being an infection given his obviously rather grubby job if the dusty jeans and sweaty vest he wore were any indicator. “The docs already looked at it...” He stopped in startlement as the stinging pain faded from the minor wound, and wasn't it always the minor ones that stung worst?
He met her eyes with an innocent surprise. “How...?” but she had made an introduction and Jackson would never be rude to a pretty girl. “Jackson. Jackson Nickleby.” He replied with another cheerful smile. Jackson seemed very accepting of things he did not seem to quite understand and displayed not the slightest edge of nervousness at anything she said or did. “If it wouldn't be too much of an imposition...? could you find out if the lad Geoff is going to be OK?”
Jackson gave her his best boyish smile, “...an' if you have a break any time soon, I'd love to buy you a cup of coffee...?”

Once again he had her laugh.Looking around her and then back to him she nodded. " I believe I mean you. Unless you see someone else I do not." Catching his worry it washed over her and she felt it settle in her stomach, the emotions washing over her it caused her a little heartbreak to see how genuine his worry was. Eyes widening as he spoke of his language she shook her head. " I have been up against Demons who have said worse. Please do not worry you have not offended me." His further explaination she shook her head in agreement. "I can understand your worries and fears, but I assure you he is in good hands here." As the slight glow from her hand faded his skin was once again intact. There was no longer a threat of infection and she was able to let the worry slip from her shoulders. She had some that freaked out be it from needles or other things the nurses and staff used. To have one actually stand still and accept the healing was a nice change. Allowing her to save some of her energy without having to sooth him. "Injuries are never nothing. At least not to me."
Realizing she still held his hand she released it. Meeting his surprised innocent gaze with her own amused one. " Well it's my specialty." perhaps he did not realize what she was and assumed she was one of the typical healers. " Jackson, I like that name. I take it you do not realize what I am." Did she dare? Her thought drifted to those in the lobby and within hearing range that were not staff and already knew what she was. "This way please. " Her hand motioned for him to walk with her as began to walk. It was welcoming to have him so calm and accepting. It allowed her to relax. Her head was starting to hurt slightly not realizing how much she really had needed this night off. " No it would not be an imposition. It would be my pleasure if it would make you feel more at ease about the lad. " moving towards the nurses station and searching through the charts there. His question if she had a break any time soon had her blink. Had she heard that correctly? Her gaze traveling back up from the file before her. " I...I would like that." Accepting the invitation before she realized what she had done. What was this feeling was she a little nervous? Was he she felt out with her empathic abilities and when she realized it wasn't him all her she was shocked. "Ah... we can go down here. I will be glad to go over his charts with you and explain his injuries." getting a grip on her emotions.

Jackson smiled as she laughed. He was happy he had managed to cheer her up some after the hassle the crew had caused her. A tired frown just didn't belong on such a pretty face. He was more than a little surprised that she had met Demons, he wouldn't have thought that they would have troubled the hospital. Why ever else the vampires tolerated Demons in the city he had no idea but the hospital was practically sacred to them. No way would they permit Demons to mess with the people or the place. At least she wasn't offended at him, though he wasn't quite following what she had meant by 'what she was'. She was a healer wasn't she?
While Valene went to collect Geoff's chart Jackson continued to look down at his now healed hand with a pleasantly awed expression, flexing his fingers gently and experimentally at first, testing for any residual pain, and then more vigorously as he checked its function. It was as good as new, better in fact because it was perfect, even the small scar he'd had before the burn was gone. “That really is amazing....” he murmured to himself. Life was just one great big voyage of discovery for Jackson right now. There always seemed to be more things that he had no memory of.
He was only too pleased to follow wherever she led him.

Valene knew she was starting to feel her exertions on her energy. The small wave of euphoria seemed to slip over her keeping that smile on her face as she watched Jackson's wonder. He really genuinely seemed to be confused as to what she was. Had he truly not met an angel? Did she dare to even tell him what she was? Demons she met long ago only when she was fighting for her ward's souls. Often battles that raged for what felt like forever to her. It had been a while since she has seen one lately. Some she had won and others she had lost. Her thoughts distracted her but for a moment before she shook her head, and she flipped open the folder reading while they walked. Her steps started to slow more and more as she took in Geoff's injuries. That beautiful smile started to fade. A sure worry seemed to cross her features. Her steps would become slowly faster once again so as not to keep them lingering in the hall. "I'm definitely glad you asked me to check up on this. " His injuries were extensive, and the burns caused her to worry she had resolved to check in on him, but she knew that healing to much from him with her already weakened state would harm herself as well as his healing it would be something she'd have to do over the course of a few days a little at a time.
Stepping up in line for the Coffee, she smiled to the woman. " Hello Betty, Could I get a coffee please?" She allowed time for Jackson to get his own as well. " I'm sorry to say Jackson that it seems Geoff has suffered injuries that cause me a little worry. " Flipping the chart open, so she could use the guidance of finger over the human body diagram. " He's suffered third-degree burns here...and here." Taking the pen and motioning to his left side of his neck crossing over to his right lower arm and hand. " Luckily he didn't get burned across his chest, or I would be a little more worried than I am but. These are still very open for infections and will take time to heal. " She felt bad now giving him bad news wasn't what she wanted to do. " I would, if you are ok with it. Like to take on his case, I think I will be able to help him. " The undeniable desire to make him happy seemed to take hold of her. She wanted to protect him from the problem and keep him from pain. It was stronger than normal as her hand shifted to take hold of the cup of coffee, she needed it black for now. It helped to soothe her tiring powers and take away the migraine that started to form.

Despite her gentle smile, Valene still seemed tired, maybe even exhausted. Jackson found himself wondering how long she had been on duty for here in the casualty department. If she had been on his crew he'd have sent her straight back home if she turned up looking so fragile. Perhaps things were done differently here at the hospital. Valene was obviously a very talented and important healer, maybe they just couldn't manage without her? Still... he found himself disapproving of the situation. The slowing of her steps as she read Geoff's file just confirmed to Jackson that he was right to be worried about the lad but he refrained from asking any questions while she read it.
They arrived at the canteen however before Valene had any real chance to comment to him on the contents of the file. Jackson flashed his infectious boyish smile at the woman serving coffee, “Could you make that two coffees please?” and he snagged a couple of sweet pastries too, adding them to the tray before paying for it all with council script that he pulled out loose from the pocket of his jeans. He didn't generally carry a wallet at work but he did keep a reasonable slush fund on him, as he never knew when he would get the opportunity to enjoy something new.
He carried the tray to a table over by the window and unloaded its contents pushing one of the pastries toward Valene as she sat down. “You look like you could use a pick me up too,” he murmured to her as she began to flip again through the file, this time pointing things out for his benefit. Jackson quite naturally did not look happy as he absorbed the news about the boy's injuries, but neither did he look particularly shocked or surprised. Mostly he just seemed concerned and a little angry as he had been when he spoke of the other two men passing the buck.
Jackson had after all been the one who had to tackle the fire and seal the leaking gas canister, shutting off the fiery jet that had engulfed the side of the boy's head. They were both lucky that the whole rig hadn't just exploded given Geoff hadn't engaged the flash-back valve. It was a mercy that he had gotten his arm in the way of his face or it could have been much worse for him. The fire crew had been ashen faced when Jackson had dragged Geoff out of there and the safety officer had bawled him out as a madman for having run in for him in the first place. But that was Jackson, act now and worry later.
“Anything you can do to help him would be fine by me. Geoff doesn't have any family in the city that I know of, kind of partly why I'm still here sort of standing in.” Jackson sipped at the coffee which was surprisingly good. “I didn't want to leave until I was sure he was gonna be okay.” A lot of the worry had lifted from his brow now that Valene had talked him through it and the fact that she was taking a personal interest in the case filled him with hope for the boy's full recovery. Vastly reassured he slid his strong, sun-bronzed hand across the table to squeeze hers very gently. “Thank you.”

As she spoke with him, she kept glancing and looking over the file as if she was searching for anything in there that could additionally alarm her. It was nearly a nervous tick as she became a little agitated the desire to go straight to Geoff's room was closely contagious had it not been for Jackson there she might have rushed off and done, just as he thought put herself in further harm. She had followed him while he gathered their items on the tray. Finally closing the folder with a soft sigh, Geoff's case would not go forgotten that was certain, but she felt a pull to Jackson and smiled when he paid for her as well. " You did not have to do that but thank you."
A soft blush danced over her cheeks giving a nice warmth to her pale skin and easing some of the fragile pallor. She didn't want to cost him money that he might need as she started to reach for her own pocket to pull out credits to offer him the funds back. " Please let me pay you back. I hate the thought of putting you in a position or something. " He looked like he really worked hard for what he had. Stopping as he pushed the pastry towards her too. The Sugary sweet goodness tempting her. She nibbled her bottom lip glancing at his hand. Her gaze sliding up his arm to his face. "You have already done more than you think. This only adds to the pick me up to, I needed it." The over whelming feeling to keep thanking him had her a little frustrated she felt like she owed him more. Especially after giving him the bad news of his friend/Co-worker
Valene felt the sadness that rolled through the air not only from herself but from Jackson. As she listened to him now she had picked at the pastry popping a piece of the sweet sugary confection into her mouth? The fullness of her lips suckled the remnants of sugar from each finger tip. Her gaze intently upon Jackson. She nodded as he spoke. Fully chewing up her food and swallowing before she spoke so as not to be rude. Hearing that Geoff had no family only made her heart ache more for the young man but, as well she admired Jackson. " That is very kind of you. I have not seen the care in humanity I once use to see. It makes me weep some days when I notice the callousness that seems to consume us all even me at times. " Her gaze lowered for a moment. The desire to be honest with him had come forward, she was scared. His hand touched hers and squeezed. His hands were rough from work, and it brought a pleasure to her skin. It was foreign. Most of the time her touch was numb focused on the healing it was not often she touched someone without the intention of healing. These were genuine human emotion and care. It scared and excited her making her curious.
Not often she revealed what she was. Most she let think that she was a mutant or a healer. The fact she had no belly button that it was always hidden. No one had seen more of her than she allowed for them to see so her being an Angel was her secret for now. "Jackson I feel I should tell you. I'm not a normal healer. " She turned the cup in her hands lightly. " I...well you see I have my faults. I really want you to know what I am before I take on your friend's case in case you wish for me to get another healer to take care of him. " The soft pink lips parted as her breath huffed out. Why was this so hard?
Stilling herself, she lifted her gaze and spoke before she could or would once again loose her nerve. "I'm a banished guardian angel. I failed one of my wards. I do not want to fail you, and I won't I will try my best. This I promise" Her voice was low only for him to hear unless someone with superior hearing was in range. "I promise you I will do my best to take care of your friend and make him complete once more." Her hand did not leave his this whole time. Instead, the other hand came to brush over their clasped fingers as she tried to mentally burn the feel into her mind. His acceptance before had seemed simple and eager so now she waited. Hoping that it was and would be the same, or if he released her with disgust at the mention of her failure.

Jackson could tell that Valene was practically itching to get back to the treatment rooms but he knew over-tiredness when he saw it and he resolved to keep her pleasantly occupied for at least another quarter hour. Not that it was any hardship whatsoever on his part to spend time in pleasant conversation with a beautiful, intelligent woman and he much appreciated the company himself. He wasn't going anywhere anyway until he had an answer about Geoff, if the boy was in serious danger then it wasn't right that he should be here all alone amongst strangers. The construction crew were the closest thing to family the boy had.
He just chuckled and grinned when she said he didn't need to pay. “Yes I do.” he laughed softly. “I asked to and you said yes. You can't ask me to break my word now, it wouldn't be right.” and he winked at her, clearly he wasn't going to give in on the point easily. People didn't generally object when Jackson offered to pay for things, quite the contrary in fact, but Jackson had a naturally generous disposition and he liked to share his good fortune. “Honestly, it's not a hardship.” he reassured her. “You didn't need to help me like this, I want to show my appreciation. Please?” He grinned again when he saw that he had caught her with the pastry and he tucked into his own enjoying the simple pleasure of her company.
When Valene spoke again she sounded suddenly terribly serious and in an odd way much older than her years. Why on earth would he not want her help? And what was a 'normal' healer anyway? Healers to Jackson's mind were all very special and gifted individuals. He owed his life to healers even if he couldn't remember the exact details of his accident and what they had done to save him. He wondered briefly if he had said something wrong to cause this wonderful woman to doubt herself and her abilities and he was struck quite suddenly by just how delicate and beautiful she was.
“An Angel...” Jackson's face was practically aglow with wonderment. An Angel... of course she was an Angel... and he was an idiot not to have seen it. She had spoken of Demons and Humanity and he had been so wrapped up in his own worries that he had totally missed it. He suddenly blushed furiously, to think he had just been considering leaning over the table and kissing those luscious pink lips. His mind was racing frantically but he couldn't recall a single thing that the 'Reorientation specialist' had said about Angels. “Apparently I'm as brainless as the rest of my crew.” he murmured in embarrassment.

Her fingers still toyed with the contours of his own she hadn't realized that she had zoned out. Her mind had started to drift as she started thinking thoughts that she hadn't even fathomed in her mind. The trail of her gaze shifted up his arm from her playing fingers. He was so...human. Curiosity peaked, and she felt a pull of something about him. Attraction? With the faintest tilt of her head, her thoughts started to run at a speed her slightly addled brain would not keep up. The pink slip of a tongue trailed over her lower lip the sweetness of the confection before her still lingered. "Hmm?" Dazed a little as she heard him say she didn't need to help him like this. " No, I do I want to. I have to...I actually need to." The last words slipped past her lips, and she blinked jerking herself back from the daze. She had been wondering what it would be like to kiss a human. Unsure of when that had occurred, she normally only saw them as charges and wards that needed protection. She felt that but there was something else.
After her confession, she started to worry that he was going to turn her down. Her empathy isn't working well for her at the moment as she felt the change in his emotions or was that hers? Actually misreading his reaction completely she released his hand." Yes." The tension built up in the pit of her stomach making her a little sick as she watched the blush on him "No, you're not brainless. I'm sorry I... I should have told you, but I felt the need to make your pain go away. I need to make sure your ok. " She instantly started to apologize thinking he was upset with her. " I will find you another Healer." Thinking that was what he wanted. She had eaten most of the pastry but suddenly didn't feel as hungry as she had prior to all of this. She couldn't tell if these were his emotions or her own. It frustrated her. She was so drained that she was having issues deciphering his emotions from some of those that were within the Canteen. Finishing off the coffee, she started feeling a desire and thought pop into her mind. Mentally, she scolded herself to get a grip on what was going on.
"No, I can do this. I want to do this. Let me help Geoff please." Her eyes pleading eyes settled on him. The desire to reach across and pull him to her drifted over the table. He was a temptation that was for sure, but she wasn't usually a brazen girl. Actually....fire sparked in her as that desire took hold of her. In the brief euphoria of the moment, Valene lost herself. She reached up and brushed his cheek with her free hand. Fingers shifted down his neck cupping the back of his head and just at the base. She pulled him forward suddenly. "Forgive me." Soft pink lips brushed his lips suddenly. A heady kiss he was like a drug. What the hell was she doing? Realizing what she had just done she pulled back. " I...ah I shouldn't have done that." Wide-eyed and now embarrassed with herself. Still breathless she cleared her throat realizing she was being stared at by one of the nurses from the ER. Oh god. Hearing a TSK behind her, she didn't want to glance behind her cause, she just knew that Betty was laughing and tsking at her as she had come out to clean off tables. " I don't know what got into me. "
Quickly, she grabbed the file and stood. " We should ...how about we go and see how Geoff is doing, and I'll start some procedures on him. " Yea that's it act like it didn't happen move right now Valene. Talking to herself mentally as she scrambled to get the file and ended up dropping it. Contents everywhere she gave a little frustrated growl and bent to pick up the items. She needed to stop being a spaz.

Post by Danviel Koenig on Jun 10, 2012 10:36:48 GMT 1
As soon as the sun went down, Danviel woke with a start. Something was wrong but he couldn't put his finger on it. But he knew it had to do with Jackson. He immediately went to the rotary phone on his side table and picked it up.
"Operator, authorization code please" the monotone, nasal voice echoed over the line.
"1197 Alpha Alpha 112" Danviel answered back.
"Y..yes Sir." The over authoritative voice now turned uneasy and unsure, "How can I connect you, Mr. Koenig?"
"Give me the construction office, direct connect." he commanded. His uneasy feeling was growing. The phone on the other line rang 4 times before someone picked it up. "Foreman's office, Jodi speaking."
"Let me speak with the foreman, Jackson Nickelby." Danviel demanded.
"I'm sorry, but he is at the medical center, there was an accident. Can I take a message?...Sir?...are you there Sir? Sir?...hmmm" the woman was confused that she heard a thump sound and the she could hear that the line was still connected but no one was there.
Danviel had dropped the phone and run. He had lost two loves to terrible accidents and now terror ran through him. He could feel Jackson and knew he was alive, but why was he at the medical center? What sort of accident and why did he feel uneasy. None of that mattered. He needed to find Jackson and he needed to get to him, now.
The trip to the medical center only took a minute with him running full speed. He startled the woman at the front dest by just appearing, causing her to let out a little shriek then let out an uneasy laugh. "You frightened me, Sir. How can I help you?" Danviel calmly asked what happened and where Jackson was. After asserting his authority, he managed to get the information out of the woman. "He had a minor burn on his hand, he's alright...Sir?...Sir!" the woman called after as Danviel caught Jackson's scent and took off after it. First to a treatment room, then to a hospital room where some boy was laying wrapped in bandages, it wasn't Jackson. He turned his nose to the air again and caught the trail again.
Just as he entered the canteen, he saw the woman...what?...did she just?...He stood frozen for a moment as the file spilled all over the ground. His spit second of surprise ended quickly as he realized he had found Jackson. In the blink of an eye he was standing in front of him, the woman all but forgotten.
"Jax...Oh, mein Gott. Ich war so besorgt. I was so worried. They said there was an accident." He grabbed him and pulled him into a tight, relieved hug. He released him and took his hands in his and examined them, "They said you were burned." he said with slight confusion when he saw nothing but a slight discoloration from a healed wound then kissed his palms. "I don't know what I would do..." He turned his head to let a glare rest on the offending angel, "This one is mine." he growled before turning back to Jackson and placing his hands on his cheeks, "What happened Jax, why didn't anyone contact me?"

A look of puzzled concern was spreading across Jackson's features as Valene pulled away from him, drawing back her hand and tensing up. What had he said? or... Did she know what he had just been thinking? Jackson was generally speaking a very open, heart on his sleeve kind of guy, and most people who knew him at all could read him like a book, and a large print book at that. It was a striking testament to just how overtired and self-conscious Valene was that his innocent expression could be so badly misinterpreted.
His eyes were still wide with surprise and he was failing to follow her rapidly fluctuating verbalised thoughts. She would help? She wouldn't? Or couldn't? She could? She wanted to? Jackson was confused now and he had just opened his mouth to speak when she brushed her hand against his cheek and every word that he had been about to say evaporated from his mind like a morning mist. Her touch sent a warm tingle through his skin and her whispered apology was the sweetest melody.
Jackson was dazed. The only real thing in the world for him right at that second was the touch of her incredible satin lips against his. She tasted of sunlight and love. He gasped softly as she pulled away, having entirely forgotten to breathe, and he blinked in stunned astonishment as she stammered and flustered. And then just like that Danviel was there and the spell was broken in the rush of panicked words and hard embraces.
“It wasn't my accident...” Jackson blurted, shocked at how manifestly distraught Danviel was. The usual light flush of his skin, one of the many little things that set him apart from the other 'ordinary' vampires, had faded to an ashen complexion. He didn't manage any more before Danviel was hugging him too hard for words and all he could do was hug him back, he was fine he just needed to convince the vampire of that.
When Danviel released him and began to check him for injury he tried again to calm him. “It was nothing... honestly.” Jackson was loosing track of how many times he had said that since he had arrived at the hospital. “Well.... almost nothing.” he grinned reassuringly as Danviel took his hands. “Valene fixed me up just fine.” The press of Danviel's lips to his palms was enough to put a shiver of pleasure down Jackson's spine and he had to remind himself just why he was still here rather than already back home in a nice hot shower.
He leant his face into Danviel's soft, cool hands just enjoying his soothing touch, and he really didn't want to be at the hospital any more but... “There was an accident with a welding rig and one of the new lads on the crew was hurt. I was just waiting on news. I already got the rest of the crew sorted out.” His eyes flickered to the flustered angel and he flashed her a friendly smile. “Valene was just offering to help so I could get off home.” Jackson grinned mischievously then, “You will hear way more than you want to about it from the safety guy tomorrow anyway, when he reams me out to you over it.”

Jackson would not be alone in his bought of confusion. She could feel the swirl of it around her and felt genuinely bad for the whole of it. Some of it had to be her own fault as she should not have been here this night. Clearly, exhaustion had set in and wasn't making the situation any better. She blushed deeply as she was picking up the file and getting it in order. When the slight breeze caused her to look up and surprised to see the vampire before Jackson. Valene was dazed as she watched the scene before her and tilted her head as if she was studying the situation. Clearly, her thoughts were running rampant. The anger that flowed off him tinged the air, and she found herself bristling a little at the Vampire without intentionally meaning to. His emotions were infectious, and she found she disliked it. Her lips parted as she started to state a rather rude comment but caught herself. Shaking off the anger, she got a better grip upon herself, and she slammed the door to her empathic powers causing herself to turn cold and numb. She smiled lightly to the vampire's words. His glare rolled off of her, though she could feel his hostility energizing the air." It is noted. It was a mistake I have already apologized for my actions. My apologies go to you as well. " Clearly getting into a tiff over the situation with the vampire would do none of them good, and she had the protection of others and those around them more in her mind.
She swayed lightly the exhaustion seemed to kick in on her as she strained to keep the lid on her empathic powers for the time. She watched the exchange between the vampire whose name. She still did not have to address him properly. In a way, she was relieved her slip with Jackson was one she hadn't had before, and she would be sure to be careful of it never happening again. Glad that she could give Jackson's care over to someone who clearly cared deeply for him. She spoke once more. " Yes, He is fine and free to go. I will release him to your care. " Her hand shifted as she waved the folder lightly. " I must see to Geoff. All will be well Jackson you need not worry I will send any information to your work." As she spoke she smiled and nodded to them both. " It's in the file."
Turning to walk away she steadied herself on one of the tables as she started to sway lightly dizzy on her feet. Her steps slowed setting down the file she held. Closing her eyes lightly her hand came to brush her forehead. Jesus what happened to this night? She still wished that she might have stayed home after all what else was she apt to screw up? Once she was steady she would leave her back to them giving them privacy while she flipped open the file to read through it and analyze the proceeding steps she could take to fix Geoff. Though some things she couldn't heal completely she would do her best to make sure he was healed as exceptionally as he could be.

“Valene fixed me up just fine.”
Danviel lifted an eyebrow, "So kissing you was part of her bedside manner?" He asked innocently with just a hint of sarcasm. He knew he needed to let it go. He could tell that Jackson had been taken by surprise by the angel. What an angel was doing kissing a man she only just met was a mystery to Danviel. This vampire was born to a family of devout Catholics who believed that angels were pure and good, even if they and their father in heaven didn't love him because he was a queer.
A streak of jealousy and seething hatred that was a muddy shade of green flashed in his eyes. He was not good enough for them and their god but she was stepping in on his human? It took a great deal of control to keep his tongue civil and push down the feelings that centuries of hate crimes in the name of the one god had stirred up in him. He closed his eyes and took a deep breath to collect his thoughts. He had to let this go. He could not lose his temper in front of Jackson, he could not frighten him.
He cleared his throat with his fist to his lips before dropping his hand to his side. "I, uh," he looked back at Jackson for some kind of reassurance, "I'm very grateful." he turned and looked back at the angel. "I'm sorry for my brashness. I...I was worried about Jax and I took it out on you and I am sorry." he said in as kind of a tone as he could create. "Thank you for taking care of him." He turned back to Jackson and held out his hand. "Come on, I'll take you home." He saw from the corner of his eye as the angel faltered. As much as he hated angels, he was still a gentleman and she was a lady so he moved. In a blur he was at her side and taking her arm, he didn't give her much choice but to sit in the chair he was trying to guide her into. "Perhaps you should rest before taking on any more patients, you can't do them any good if you are passed out on the floor." He didn't want to be touching her so he let go as soon as she was in the chair, "Don't you think so Jax?" he asked and stepped closer to Jackson.
