Going home was getting harder and harder for Mathias. Ryan seemed to end up in the infirmary more and more to be sedated. His explosive emotional outbursts were getting taxing on the old vampires nerves. Once again he was tied to his bed, sedated all because someone looked at Mathias desirably. It wasn't like Mathias would act on such things.
For Mathias, Ryan had been an exercise in physical connection with another being. He had enjoyed it and it was an enlightening experience but the more Ryan broke down, the more Mathias blocked any emotional attachment he may have felt. He had taken to sleeping in his airtight, sealed sleep cabinet located under the floor in his office. That is when he slept. He had to sleep when he was just to weak to fight it anymore but the stress was tearing him apart. For the first time in his life, he felt lonely; he felt empty; he felt lost. He would need to choose a new Techa sooner or later, to replace Ryan when he died, which would be sooner.
Mathias walked the gun range, admiring the new recruits as they fired their weapons, some for the first time. He would stop and assist some, giving instruction and demonstrating from time to time but for the most part, they were doing just fine. He had chosen his instructors well. There was one student, however, who kept catching his eyes.
The young man in his sleeveless, standard issue workout shirt that showed off his tattoos drew his attention. His unruly blonde hair and perfect physique were not the only thing that drew him to the young man. It was his intense blue eyes, so much like Mathias's own when he was a newborn vampire. They were as bright as the noonday sky that Mathias only saw through tempered Plexiglas until he looked at the man's eyes. He found a reason to approach him.
Mathias stood behind the man and watched him fire a few times before moving in close. He placed a hand on the man's shoulder, "Lower, relax." he instructed. He looked down at the man's legs and feet. The perfect musculature was quite intoxicating. He let his hand drag down the man's back and paused at the curve of his lower back, "Straighter." he instructed once more before letting his hand move to his hip, "Bring your hip back some." The man's form was nearly perfect, minor adjustments would make a great deal of difference but Mathias's motives were more intimate. He wanted to touch the young Techa.
Mathias hand moved further down, until it reached the man's thigh, "Bring this leg back." he murmured before removing his hand and taking a step back, "Now, try again." he said softly. He didn't know why he would be drawn to a man he never met because he did not yet understand emotions and desire. Ryan had been his first exploration into such things, and while he felt like he failed his first endeavor, he was not beyond trying again.
The slow trickle of blood from his ear caused him to pause and pull a handkerchief from his pocket. He would need to sleep soon, but for now, he would instruct this Techa. Perhaps this would be his choice to replace his ailing partner when he was gone.
