Billie looked down at the days schedule and answered the head medic's question on what was scheduled for the day.
"Well you can go deliver the Prescott baby, the only thing scheduled is Justice Coltrain at 1pm but there is no notation on what for. I can do that."
She looked up at the medic who shook her head "No you go deliver the baby" she swallowed and continued "Its about time you did something a bit more serious. I am the only one who sees to Justice"
On the way to deliver the baby she saw Justice walking the other way across the courtyard he looked pale and tired. She noticed he carries something wrapped in a sack. She wondered if he were so ill why he would be running errands.
She wondered on and off all morning why only the boss could see to Justice, surely anything ongoing any of them could deal with. She wondered why he would look so ill this morning when he hadn't any other day. All the while delivering the baby she couldn't help but wonder what was going on, it was extremely unusual.
The baby was born and declared healthy and when she walked out of their rooms it was only a little after one thirty in the afternoon. Being the Prescott's third baby it had all gone smoothly. Realising the time she decided to walk around past Justice's place and maybe walk back with the other medic. Maybe she would be inclined to share what was going on with the unusual patient.
As she came up to his place she saw him and the medic standing talking against the rail at the front of his place. She paused, already Justice looked better. He had colour to his cheeks and didn't look quite so tired or pale. She stood in the shadow of the building and watched as Justice handed the medic a paper bag. The medic peaked inside and with a laugh walked away. As she walked she saw her lift the brown bag to her mouth and drink from the bottle it contained.
Billie frowned, surely Justice hadn't just given her liquor. Hard to come by because they didn't make it at Haven, another reason Billie likes it there, and it wasn't something essential to steal. Drinkable liquor would be a valuable commodity indeed.
Once the medic had disappeared she stepped from the shadows and walked up to Justice who was leaning on the rail.
"Excuse me" she smiled "has the other medic left already? I was hoping to catch up with her"
Naturally curious, her brain was working overtime to try and work out what was going on.
"You look much recovered" she looked down the street then up at the man "I hope you are feeling better"

“Fucking bitch…you promised.” Justice growled under his breath at the woman.
“Well, Mr. Coltrain, you should have brought me a bigger bottle.” The medic lifted and eyebrow and smirked at the tall cowboy.
“It’s all I could get, I’m sick, remember? Or have you forgotten the whole reason behind our little…arrangement.” Justice spat. The medic was getting more and more demanding. And she didn't need him. He was sure if it wasn’t him that got her the contraband, it would be someone else. But he needed what she had to give him. “There is no way I can go 30 days like this Loraina, the admiral will be able to tell I’m sick. I still feel like shit.”
The medic simply looked in her little bag and giggled. “That’s not my problem now, is it Mr. Coltrain.”
“It will be when I don’t bring you anymore of that hooch.” Justice growled.
“Fine, Mr. Coltrain, I’ll send a girl tonight, but next time you bring me a bigger bottle and more cigarettes, you get me?” With a sweet smile the medic turned and left, enjoying the fact that she had him by the balls.
Justice sighed and leaned on the railing. The woman barely gave him enough blood to get him through a few days, much less a month and he was nowhere near back to 100% like usual. Was she insane? How could he get into the city and steal another bottle while he was weak as a kitten, and he already ran into someone who was sick with a lung infection. Of course the medic didn’t care about that. She simply gave him a handful of penicillin and aspirins, which she knew damned well wouldn’t work for him. He took a deep breath to sigh and only ended up coughing. He tasted the rust in his mouth and felt the droplet on his lip as he turned to see where the voice was coming from.
“Uh yeah…” he muttered and wiped the tiny red droplets from his lip with the back of his hand. He glanced at it and fought not to react. “Uh, guess I bit my tongue.” He quickly wiped the back of his hand off on his jeans. “Feeling much better thanks.” He gripped the rail tightly as he could and hoped she would not notice his struggle to stay upright. That girl better show or he’s going to be in deep shit.

Billie smiled as he wiped his hand on his jeans but as she stepped up to the rail she noted he wasn't actually as well as he first looked. Trained to be observant, she spotted the white knuckles from holding on tightly, a thin line of perspiration on his forehead and the smear of blood on his jeans was the bright red of highly oxygenated blood.
She took a deep breath and staggered slightly, grabbing the rail. She closed her eyes hoping he wouldn't see that there was nothing wrong, hoping above all else that he had manners enough not to order her from his doorstep, it was all she could do to bide more time to stick around and make sure he was alright.
She opened her eyes and looked up at him "I'm sorry I guess spending all day helping the Prescott's deliver their baby I haven't eaten or drunk anything." she wiped her brow "Gee that sun is hot, do you mind, have you got some water or something I could maybe have?"
She saw the blank look on his face, not entirely sure if he was good at hide his expression or was too unwell to pay much heed she took two steps and slumped onto his steps.
"Or maybe I will just sit a moment" she sighed and closed her eyes a moment.
When she opened them a chipped cup was in front of her eyes "Thanks" she smiled and took a sip of the water.
"You should sit and have some water too" she suggested "Keeping hydrated will help you feel better." she sipped some more water "And any medication she may have given you will work faster"
She didn't want to ask outright but was certain something fishy was going on and regardless of what it was, it was pretty obvious that he was still quite unwell. She looked at him and jumped to her feet, grabbing his arm.
"My god, Justice are you ok?" she led him over and half pushed him down onto the rickety bench on his veranda, her hand went straight to his forehead feeling his clammy skin.

Justice noticed the woman looked extremely tired and that she was probably thirsty. As she let herself down on the steps, he grabbed the cup of water he had gotten for his kitten before the medic made him forget about it and he handed it to her. The act of bending down to hand her the cup, then standing up sent balls of light swimming around his eyeballs and he felt like he was going to fall over.
Now a 6’6” tall man with a muscular athletic build, falling would be like unto a giant 200 year old redwood falling in a national. It would be loud, devastating and probably make the evening bulletins. He did not mind at all that she took his arm and guided him to the bench.
“No,” he complained. “I ain’t OK and you can’t tell anybody.” He said as he leaned back and took another deep breath and coughed again, red droplets leapt out of his mouth onto his lip. He reached in his pocket and pulled out the little baggie of penicillin tablets and handed them to her. “Keep these for the kids or somethin’. They ain’t gonna do me no good.” He hoped she would keep the secret but from the way things were looking, it wasn’t going to matter anyway. He leaned forward and put his face in his hands, “Do me a favor and make sure they bury me with my boots on.” He muttered.

Billie snatched the bag and looked at the penicillin tablets, these were low grade, barely able to fight off an infected graze. She frowned and snatched his hands away from his face, seeing the fresh droplets of blood.
"Shit" she swore "Lets get you inside so I can look at this properly. I wont need to tell anyone if you stay out here for all the world to see."
She tugged at his arm, dragging him up to his feet, even though he wasn't really cooperating. She wrapped his arm around her shoulder and spoke to him in her best nurses tone, the one reserved for ordering difficult patients to comply.
"Now Justice, one foot in front of the other, lean on me, we can do this"
Together they shuffled through the narrow doorway, she stood firm letting Justice lean on her but knowing he wasn't really. She didn't know if she should thank him or scold him for not doing so. If he had lent on her with all his weight they no doubt would have both fallen to the floor, he was a strong tall man and her frame couldn't have held him.
The room inside was dark with a unmade bed on the far wall, she shuffled him towards it and eased him down onto the bed. He fell back with a groan. She reached for his shirt, unbottoning the front and pushing it aside. Seeing the glint in his eyes she warned him with a smile "don't get ideas" She leaned down and rested her ear against his chest.
Inside she could hear the racing of his heart and the sound of his lungs, much like the churning ocean. His skin was clammy and warm with the start of a fever, although he had some colour in his cheeks that was obviously where it was coming from as the rest of his skin was pale.
She rested a hand on his forehead "Justice what's wrong, this isn't just an infection is it as its gone on so long, as far back as I can see in the book you have been getting treatment"
She took his hand in hers and squeezed it "Please I can help, I won't tell anyone I promise. Julie, that medic, what ever she has given you isn't working, isn't the right think or there isn't enough of it. I can help but only if you tell me the truth"

Justice was not about to lean on this little woman who was trying so hard to hold him up. He knew it wasn’t very far to his bed so he used the last of his strength to get him there. His long strides were no match for her so his step was more of a scuffle than a stride.
He eased himself into the bed with a groan, knowing full well that the infection was coming on fast and the medic he had his little arrangement with didn't give a rat’s ass any more.
He eyed the woman when she questioned him. He felt like he could probably trust her but even if he couldn't, his jig was up if he didn't get the medical attention he needed now. He had to try. “You’re right, its not just an infection. That's just a result of the problem.” He said with a sigh.
“I have a rare disease. I need regular blood transfusions to stay healthy. I had an arrangement with that bitch to keep her supplied with whiskey and smokes, vile and nasty stuff, and she would get me the blood I needed and keep my secret. But she just wants more and more for less and less.” He looked her directly in the eye.
“She has let it go too far…I’m coughing up blood, the fever has started, this is how my father died…he had it too…” He suddenly found himself fighting back tears. “These people need me.” He shut his mouth and took a breath through his nose so he wouldn’t cough again.
“Like I asked before, could you make sure they bury me with my boots on? And if it’s not too much trouble, with my hat…”

Billie shook her head slowly "She left you like this"
Her brain was running overtime, she had almost everything she needed. She shook her head again in total disbelief that someone who had dedicated her life to helping others, could leave a man in this much trouble.
She ducked out the door grabbing her medic's rucksack and came back inside, without a word she started tugging him out of his shirt.
"You are in luck buddy" she tried to sound light and optimistic as she freed his arm from the shirt.
She started unbuttoning her shirt but gave up and tugged it over her head leaving her standing in her bra. She grabbed a tubing from her kit and two needles, she tugged pinched the skin in the crook of her elbow and slapped it before ramming the needle into her arm. As her blood reached the needle at the other end she reached for his arm.
"I am O neg, a universal donor." she smiled at touched his cheek lightly "You will feel a bit better soon, just close your eyes and try and rest"
She grabbed his arm as the first drops of her blood started to drip form the needle and jammed it into his arm. She stood with her arm held up over her head allowing the blood to flow down into his arm. She had no way to know how much she gave him, but she guessed the more the better at this point and vowed to stand there as long as she could.
"Justice" she murmured softly in case he was asleep "I will save you, I promise you that. You won't need buried with your boots on cause you are gonna live to be a old man. I can't believe she has been treating you like this, rationing the help you need." she grit her teeth "I will make her inadequacies up to you I promise"
She sighed again and closed her eyes and hoping she wouldn't pass out and fall down when she had donated enough, because then the blood would run down back to her.
"Justice, talk to me if you can, so i have something to concentrate on" she sighed softly "tell me anything, I just need to hear something, anything."

Justice knew if he had the good healthy blood in him, his body could fight off the infection with the help of good antibiotics. Those were not easy to come by but he knew someone who could get them. He didn’t ask Max how he managed to get some of the things he did but he was the best thief they had. The emotional relief alone was enough bring on fresh tears. “I uh..Must have got something in my eye.” He mumbled and rubbed at his eyes to get rid of the moisture. He was not about to let this pretty young thing see him cry.
Universal donors. That's what the medic always sent him. Any more he was worried she was going to send someone with the wrong type and end up killing him. She saw it as a game, he saw it as his life being on the line. She didn’t seem to care about anything but the whiskey. He watched Billie as she worked with a hint of awe and wonder. If this woman was as good a medic, if not better, with more compassion, Justice was in a position to get her fast tracked to the top where a good medic belonged. They needed a medic who cared to be in charge, especially with the number of children in the camp.
“Thanks for doing this.” He said softly. He didn't know what else to say. He wasn’t the ladies man everyone thought he was. “I mean, I don’t really care ‘bout myself, can’t really think of anyone who should, but I care about these people and I have a very particular set of skills that they need to help them survive.” He explained why it was that he wanted to live. “The people of Haven are all I got since my mama…well since my family….” He couldn’t finish his sentence. “Aw, hell!” he looked across the room, avoiding eye contact.
“You know it was her that knew what this was. I have her journals. Thats how I knew I needed the blood. That's how I knew how my daddy died.” Now he was just talking to talk because she asked him too. It was amazing how fast the blood was making him feel better. Treatment for his disease, when done correctly, was very effective. “Thank you.” He mumbled. “You probably ought to stop now…” he knew his donors usually stayed on a bit longer but for some reason, he was more concerned about her than the others who did this same thing.

Billie listened intently to his story, he sounded sad but she deliberately didn't watch him, giving him the moment to himself and not making a big deal of it. For some reason she took him as the sort that didn't share feelings very openly or very often and didn't want to discourage him from doing so now.
She shook her head softly "Not yet" with her free hand she reached out and touched his forehead, checking his temperature and taking note that he didn't seem quite as clammy as he did earlier.
She lifted her hand with a smile "It sounds like your mamma was very smart woman to leave you all that information to help you."
She took a deep breath, she had now been donating for longer than she would have recommended but she wanted to do what ever she could to help save this man. He seemed kind and she felt guilty somewhat that the other medic had been treating him and his condition so poorly.
She closed her eyes and took a deep breath, the room started to spin a little but she dug her fingernails into her palms and bit her lip. She took a deep breath and when she opened her eyes the room was spinning.
"Sorry Justice" she sighed "I have to stop this now, but I can give you more in 2 days, it will be enough on top of what you already got earlier"
She gently pulled the needle out of his arm, pressing a small piece of cotton to the wound. "Hold this can you" she murmured as she sat down heavy on her butt on the floor.
She pulled the needle out of her own arm, fighting the light headedness and pressed cotton to her own arm. She closed her eyes and sighed, blowing the hair out of her eyes with a long hard breath upwards.
She rummaged through her rucksack and pulled out two sweets she handed one to Justice "Sugar" she shrugged "I don't understand why we never get the cherrie ones though, they are my favourite"
She popped the sweet into her mouth and started rummaging again, pulling out a small vial, she looked at the side of it which read 'Vancomycin' and a date, she frowned but it was only a week out of date and would be still effective. She checked the dosage and pulled out a syringe, drawing up the required amount.
"I dont want to give you a saline drip, thats how this should be delivered, the last thing i want to do is dilute the hemoglobin in the blood just yet. She filled the remaining volume of the syringe with the saline pouch making a total of 50ml. "Sorry Justice, this will hurt like a bitch"
She grabbed his other arm, pulled his finger from pressing on the cotton, rolled his arm over and plunged the syringe into his vein, she pulled back a little watching as she drew up a tiny bit of blood. Satisfied she pressed the plunger a little, pushing through a gentle stream of the diluted antibiotic.
She held his arm still, pressing in the content as slowly as she could so that it wouldn't hurt as much. When she was finished she looked up at him, she smiled softly and withdraw the needle, pressing another clean bit of cotton against it.
She started packing up all her stuff, when she was done she looked at Justice "Please you have to rest for the next few days, you need to stay in bed." she thought for a moment "To keep your secret I will bring your meals back here. I will let the admiral know that you are indisposed with a mild but very contagious cough and confined to quarters to prevent spreeding"
She squeezed his hand reassuringly "Your secret is safe with me, I will go report back at work before they become suspicious and I will be straight back with some food, you have to get your strength up"
She walked towards the door, she looked back before she closed it and smiled softly "Rest"
She walked out and closed the door, she paused for a moment, her heart thumping loudly in her chest. The thought crossed her mind, wondering if he had a girlfriend, then scolding herself she rushed back to the medic's office. She filled in the paperwork she needed to, the head medic who should have been on duty was no where to be seen. She locked the doors and headed to the mess, on the way passing her house and seeing her passed out drunk on her front veranda.
Rolling her eyes she rushed to the mess, hoping to get in and out with two trays and not having to explain why.

Justice had been through this before. He lay still while the blood entered his veins and felt himself getting stronger and stronger. He wondered what he would have to retrieve from the city for this one. Even if she did seem nice, everyone wanted something for their blood. He wasn't a vampire, he paid his dues for the precious gift he received from his donors, even if some were more demanding than others.
He gladly took the sweet, knowing they were hard to come by because he was one of the ones who went on the raids that brought those back. He knew where the cherry ones went. Kris always picked them out for the admiral. The admiral deserved them though so no one who knew about it complained.
He was concerned about the woman and how weak she seemed to get but she also seemed to know what she was doing. And since she didn't ask him for anything, he knew just what he was going to give her. It was something buried in the bottom of his lockbox. He waited until she was gone to get up and fish it out. Then came a knock on the door. “That was quick.” He said as he laid the linen wrapped box he had retrieved on the bed. He got up and opened the door. He stared at the little blond for a moment then sighed. “Go away Clarissa.” He said quietly, “I’m sick.”
“Come on Justice, just let me in for a minute. I want to talk to you…about us.” The young woman complained.
“There is no “us”.” Justice said flatly, “I told you I’m not interested.” He tried to close the door but she stuck her foot in it. He looked down, opened the door then pushed her foot out with the toe of his stockinged foot. “Get out Clarissa, I told you when you got pregnant while we were dating, I won’t be played that way.” He was getting annoyed now and he just wanted to lay down. That's when he heard a tiny mew. “Duke?” he said and looked around but his gaze fell back on the girl who was still standing there.
“I’m going to tell everyone that Johnny is your spawn!” the girls spat at him.
“I think the dark curly hair, brown eyes and deep south african tan with defend my honor sufficiently little missy, now get out of here and if you cause me any trouble I’ll see that your little stash of marijuana gets found.” Justice growled back and slammed the door.
“Why won’t you love me Justice??” the girl shrieked the looked up when she heard footsteps, hissed and made a face then ran off.
Justice sat down heavily in the chair next to his cot and proceeded to stomp his feet into his western roper boots. “I’m coming Duke!” he called out to the now frantically crying kitten then coughed violently. At least he knew that was going to get better soon with the good antibiotics. He was glad he didn't show any weakness to the medic when she injected the stuff. It felt like white lightning was entering his vein when she put it in but he knew it was going to help him. He stood up, straightened his cowboy hat the strode to the door. He stopped when he opened it, “Oh, hello…I was just…uhh…yeah you hear Duke don’t ya? I gotta get him, he’s probably on the roof again.”

Billie juggled the two trays across the courtyard, only raising a few looks from those that passed her. She slowed as she came up to Justice's place, there was a women on the doorstep screaming blue murder and shrieking about Justice not loving her.
She hid around the corner of the building as the crazy women stomped off, cursing Justice. Billie blushed, having just witnessed a rather personal moment between the two of them, she felt like she had been intruding, without meaning to.
When the women had been gone a few moments she walked up the steps and raised a hand to knock on the door it was flung open suddenly and Justice stood there looking as startled as she was.
"Oh" she said softly blushing, she could hear the constant meowing "I think he is on the roof, the corner just off the steps here."
She pushed the trays at Justice "You take these, you shouldn't be out of bed, I will get him"
As soon as Justice had the trays she spun on her heels and stalked across the veranda, glad to be able to hide her blushing, she was never any good at hiding anything, and at that point she was embarrassed she had heard the exchange between the women and Justice.
She stood on the step and looked up, there was no sign of the kitten she could hear.
"damn" she cursed
"Umm Justice" she called to him inside, "I can't see him is there some trick to get him close to the edge.
She climbed up onto the rail of the veranda, it wasn't very sturdy but she wasn't that heavy, it should hold her. She stood up and grabbed the edge of the roof, she still couldn't quite see. She rolled her eyes, nothing could ever go easily.
She stood on her tip toes, using her arms to pull herself higher, she thought she caught a glimpse of fur but the rail under her feet made a loud cracking noise and split in half. Grabbing the roof with her arms she hung in the air.
"Shit" she groaned "I shouldn't have had breakfast obviously"
She looked down contemplating jumping, it suddenly looked a long way and she closed her eyes, she wasn't all that good at heights, not really a phobia of the height more a phobia of falling.
"Damn" she cursed, holding on tightly and closing her eyes.

Justice stared at the trays when they were handed to him and it took him a moment to register what just happened. He was holding two trays of food while she was rescuing his kitten, which was his job, not hers.
“Um…ma’am?” he called out and quickly put the trays down on his bed. “Ma’am, I’ll get him.” He called then went into a fit of coughing. By the time he got outside she was dangling from the roof. He stopped and stared at her with a lifted eyebrow and blood dribbling down his chin, which he didn't notice.
Being that he was 6 and a half feet tall, he had no trouble at all as he reached up and grabbed her around the waist. “I got ya.” He said as he gave a slight tug and pulled her down, placing her gently on her feet. He then felt something hit the top of his hat and turned his eyes upwards to see the tiny kitten peaking down over the edge of his hat and looking him in the eyes. Mew?…
Justice’s eyes lit up and he smiled, “You little varmit.” He snickered.

Billie gripped on tightly with her arms, hoping that the roof wouldn't collapse now too. Just when the tin of the roof started to creak she felt strong arms around her waist. She was apprehensive about letting go, Justice was unwell and might not have the strength to hold her. But he tugged at her and she had no choice but to let go. She held her breath as Justice set her down carefully.
She smiled and went to thank him but he the sight of a small kitten plopping down into the middle of his hat made her pause, she shook her head slightly and blinked disbelievingly. She watched as the sight of the little cat made his eyes light up, the smile was contagious and she grinned to. She was a little taken at just how handsome he was when he smiled like that, like nothing in the world mattered.
She followed him inside and grinned "Well you are lucky I got enough food for you to share with your friend there"
She took the tops off the two trays and set them on the table. She looked blankly for a moment wondering what was missing then grinned, reaching into her pocket and pulling out two sets of knives and forks in a napkin.
"I told Josh in the mess you were a little busy and he said he gave you all the things you like" she smiled at Justice across the table "He also said to tell you" she paused then added in a pretend voice that sounded a little like the cook Josh "tell Justice I said way to go nailing the medic"
She looked at him puzzled "Does that mean what I think it does?"
She blushed slightly but hid it by stabbing a piece of carrot with her fork and shoving it into her mouth.

Justice blushed and took the kitten off his hat and put it on the bed. He tipped his hat back just a bit and looked down at the food. For the first time in days, he was famished. It was true; the cook did give him all his favorite things. He knew that smartass was gay and had a thing for him and he humored him just a bit with stories of his conquests that didn’t exist. They were cover stories for transfusions and so he could not be pressured to procreate. If he was a man whore, the elders were convinced he probably had 20 little Justice’s running around.
“Uh, yeah, that’s what he means. He thinks I’m…havin’ relations with ‘the medic’.” He said and rubbed at his neck and sat down near his food. “He could mean the other one. Although, I wouldn’t touch that skank with a 3 meter pole.” He said and blushed again. He liked Billie. She was kind and polite and beautiful to match. If his blood wasn't…
”I’m sorry, the elders have to think I’m procreating, but I just can’t bring a child into this world with this condition. I just can’t muddy the gene pool with it bein’ so small.” He sighed heavily, “Truth is, I’ve never even been with a woman; much less the untold numbers everyone thinks.”

Billie grinned and forked some peas into her mouth. She could barely hold back the grin, it was funny how everything she had ever heard about Justice had revolved around his abilities in bed and the size of his, umm, package. Just thinking about it made Billie blush slightly, here she was sitting across from some guy she didn't know, but heard lots about, and wondering about the size of what was really in his pants.
When she had chewed she chuckled to hide what she was really thinking "So all the tales of how good the infamous Justice is in bed is all just a rouse to keep the elders off your back."
She sipped at some water then grinned at Justice "Well I can tell you all the rumors about me are true. I don't date, I haven't been with anyone and yes I am damaged goods and I am unlikely to be able to reproduce." she hid the sigh that threatened to escape her lips because that wasn't entirely true but keeping the elders off her back was also important to her.
She forked more food into her mouth then swallowed "Why haven't you told the elders? Having an illness is nothing to be ashamed of. And if not the elders then why not the Admiral? He could keep the elders from harassing you without the smoke and mirrors you are currently playing with"
Then realising it was now dark outside, she stood and piled up the dishes onto a single tray to take back to the mess. Before leaving she turned back to Justice who was still seated at the small table, one hand reaching for his forehead where it rested softly and the other for his jugular where she felt his now much stronger pulse.
She closed her eyes a moment, concentrating, and when she opened them she smiled "You seem much improved Justice, but do me a favor and rest for at least the next 2 days. You can go to the mess and back and that is it." she grinned "You don't want a new story circulating about how I kicked your ass all over the compound for you?" she laughed softly and took her hands from him, feeling somewhat reluctant to do so "I better go, I will be back tomorrow with some more antibiotics and then the following day another transfusion and you should be as right as rain on the summer crops"
She turned away and picked up her bag, then turned back to Justice "Have a good night Justice"
She looked at him a moment, wanting to say something, maybe wanting to delay the inevitable but in the end she scooped up the trays and walked out the door.
As she headed across towards the mess she spotted her boss standing in the shadows, she turned back towards Justice's place, spotting what she assumed was a shadow in the doorway she stopped and blew a kiss in that direction "Thanks darling" she called out "You are amazing"
Once she was passed her boss and out of sight she started to giggle. That night laying in bed, curled up and unable to sleep, she thought about Justice. She wondered if he had any definitive testing done because it very well could be likely that his illness was recessive hereditary and then to pass on to any future generation would require him to be unlucky enough to create with someone also carrying that gene. And even then there would only be a 50/50 chance of passing on the illness. She smiled, thinking about the night and she eventually drifted off to sleep thinking about how strong he was to lift her from where she dangled from the roof and how nice it had felt to feel his arms around her for that instant.
She dreamed about Justice, well not really Justice. It was her ex husband but when she was corned by him, his face morphed into the smiling face of Justice. She woke screaming with tears running down her cheek and the morning sun streaming through the window.
