To all current members, and soon to be members of City of Sins: To maintain the integrity of the plot and to ensure consistency across the board, please be sure to read EVERYTHING thoroughly. It is a major time saver for both you and to the Staff of the site. We don’t like to have to ask people to remake applications or to reread the rules, species descriptions, and plot any more than you like having to go back and reread all of that and correct your application so we can approve it. No application will be given up on by the staff of CoS, we are here to help you get your application approved no matter how many attempts it takes.
General Rules:
1. We ask that every person desiring to be a member of City of Sins be at least 16 years old or older. Before you do anything else, PM Dextaris with your age.
2. In accordance to Proboard's Terms of Service, there is to be NO adult content regarding sex, rape, or extreme violence. If your characters wish to partake in this, then please take it offsite. (We aren't allowed to mention having a board for such things on another website so we won't.) This site will be moving soon to the land of the free, home of the writers who write whatever the hell we want. An announcement will be made when it is ready.
3. Respect one another. We cannot stress this enough. We are a very friendly, open-minded, and loving group of people as well as BIG supporters of the LGBT community. If there is an issue regarding harassment, insults, or anything of that nature, it must be reported to an Administrator or Moderator. If there is an issue between two members,please take it to a private chat. If you are unable to come to a resolution then please seek a member of the staff to help come to a resolution. The last thing we want is to lose any member over something that can be resolved in a friendly manner.
4. Swearing is allowed if used tactfully, but please don’t abuse it.
5. This rule is very important; being the only rule that has its own color. We do not, under any circumstances, allow the posting of videos and/or links to videos that contain any form of flashy or strobe effects or images that repeat themselves less than 4 seconds apart. Our site caters to those who are epileptic. In order to continue to do so we as that this rule is adhered to. If you have a question about a video or avatar, feel free to PM any mod other than the Admin. Please do not, under any circumstances, link a video or avatar to Thor (Admin) as this may take him out of the game for days.
6. In the interest of making things fun, casino owners may crash any thread in their casino at any time. Also the VSF (AKA Mathias or any VSF officer) may make an appearance in any thread where laws are being broken...so remain an upstanding citizen of New Vegas by staying familiar with the CoS law.
7. The code words for Citizen Laws and Vampire Laws have to have the complete sentence that is there put into the application.
CBox Rules:
Just your basic cbox rules here.

3. No advertising. Please refer all advertisements to our Advertising board…it’s guest friendly.
4. Be respectful of others.
5. Be friendly, greet each other and new members if possible.
**EDIT** There will be absolutely NO unsolicited critiquing or criticism of anyone's posts or writing in the cbox at any time. If you have feedback to give someone, do it via PM or your personal chat system (AIM, Yahoo, etc.).
Timeframe Rules:
1. We ask that all characters be completed within one week of posting. Please have ‘WIP’ (work in progress) in title until finished. If you are unable to complete the application in the time given (for example if something in your life came up) PM a mod or the admin and let them know you need more time. Keep in mind that your playby will be put on hold until your application is complete.
2. All characters must be first posted in "New Applications" until approved by an Administrator and/or Moderator
3. Any character that is still remaining in pending for longer than a week will be moved to the orphanage.
4. If your character is moved to the orphanage, your playby will no longer be on hold. However, you may retrieve it from the orphanage and repost it in the “New Applications” thread.
5. Once accepted, members are required to post at least two times a week. Please be courteous of the person you are role-playing with. If you cannot to commit more than twice a week, let them know beforehand. After two weeks unexplained absence, the person you're posting with has the option to end threads.
6. If you plan to take an extended absence, please post in the ‘Away Notices’. Any inactivity for a month will result in that member’s characters to be put into the orphanage where characters can be looked through and adopted. Please keep in mind that "Away notices" do not give you a free ticket to be away indefinitely. If you posted that you will be gone 1 week, your 30 days begins at the end of that week. The rules are the same for everyone, even the staff.
7. If the characters are in a relationship, the abandoned character may make up any story as to what happened to the other character up to and including the belief that they are dead.
8. If a thread is inactive for one month, that thread will be moved into the graveyard.
Profile and Tracker Rules
These rules are placed to keep the site tidy and to prevent the site page extending. Once again these rules and guidelines serve to benefit the site as a whole.
1. Avatars need to be exactly 150X400 and must be edited to this size prior to using. The site is unable to resize it and throws a tantrum. This can be done via photobucket and on tinypic. If you need help, ask staff for assistance. Feel free to ask, we don’t bite…hard...except Laik, he bites hard, just ask Dominic (but its OK, he likes it).
2. We ask that our members register a different account for each character. With the exception of staff, members can only have a maximum of three characters for the first month. Once you’re an active member, and all the other characters are active you may add two more. If you are able to post for all your characters and you are an active member, you may be able to make as many characters as you are able to handle. Ask Staff for approval.
3. A character tracker is required for all players, even if you only have 1 character. It must be linked with your signature and your main character needs to be listed first. Passcode for the rules is 'Captain Jack Harkness, STOP IT!, What? Can't I say hi to anyone?'. This not only benefits us, but benefits you as well in that it helps you keep track of your threads. Also, the tracker must contain links to each character’s application.
4. Just like with your avatar, signatures must not stretch the page and there will be NO animations. They should measure 600X300 and again ask for help if needed.
Posting Rules
1. This is a beginning to advance RP site so talk to the person you are RPing with prior to the thread for a set of expectations.
2. Minimum word count for posts is 200 but come on…we know you can do better than that. (300 words required to post with the Admin.)
3. Posts must be at least 70% originally. Quoting and paraphrasing is ok, but please put your own thoughts into posts.
4. Please use your spell checker before posting replies.
5. Posts are to be written in third person i.e ‘Bob drank a bottle of water’ not ‘I drank a bottle of water’
6. If the person you are posting with has not posted within a week, you may post a gentle reminder here. Please read and follow the instructions there. EVERYONE should have this link BOOKMARKED.
7. Last but not least, this site frowns upon ‘god-modding’. This means you cannot control another person’s character without permission from the person you are RPing with.

2. After showing that they are active role players on the site, members are allowed to add more characters. In some cases a mod or admin may grant permission for more characters at their discretion.
3. Characters must be an approved species and must be listed in the character name in the title. The species of the character must be posted after the name in the subject of the post. (ie. Bob Smith *Lycan*)
4. When creating a character application, we require that the character template we have provided for the site be used. No other templates will be accepted. Click this link, CHARACTER APPLICATION, for quick access to the site template.
5. No character whose age or whose play by's age is under the age of 16 will, under any circumstances be involved in a restricted thread. Playbys are expected to reflect the age of the character unless they are immortal or have an extended life cycle, ie. Vampires, Angels, Djinn, and some elementals and special mutants. In other words, if they are a 25 year old human, their playby should be able to pass for 25 years old.
6. No GOD characters. This includes Mary Sues and Gary Stus. No one is perfect, each species has their flaws. AND no sad sack characters. Keep in mind, if you make a drug addict, your character may be arrested and turned into a blood slave.
7. You cannot start posting until your character has been approved and moved by Admin.
8. Your face claim must be posted before posting in a thread.
9. Characters may not have babies unless they have been actively RPing a relationship with the other parent for 3 months. They must clear it with the other writer and both writers must gain permission from Admin before beginning this storyline. There will be no Vampire or Lycan hybrids. Vampires and Lycan’s are viral, you either have it, or you don’t.
10. All vampires, except for the Magistrate, must be younger 600.
11. Have fun, or else!
