Rhys could feel his strength returning. The pain and shock from the wounds that had coursed through his body began to stabilize. He never even realized how famished he was until the body was dumped next to him. He went straight for the part that would fill him with the most strength, the fastest...the heart.
The soft organ meats were the most palatable for a weakened Lycan and they boasted the most energy and met the majority of nutrition needs in the Lycan species. He made no effort to eat neatly, no Lycan ever did when they were ravenous. He had not had human flesh in weeks. His gentle grunts and instinctual growls proved his strength was gaining. As any good mate would, from time to time he offered a morsel to Dels and offered daggered looks to the others, they would understand, it was Lycan nature. Finally he slumped to the side and took a deep breath and let it out slowly.
His color returned and his wounds sealed over. He no longer felt fail and weak. His entire stature changed. He stood up and offered Dels his hand. "Thank you." he said gratefully to the others, making eye contact with Hall. Images still rang in his head and he had a respect and love for the Alpha he never even knew, yet he knew him intimately with his memories tucked safely in the recesses of his mind. "Let's go get this thing." he stood taller now than he had, his presence now something to be considered. He was a fighter, a gladiator of sorts, now was the time to put his skills to the test, "For my mate, for my Alpha, for my pack."
Suddenly, before he could move, he heard the screams. They were the screams of a male, most definitely. He looked from one face to the other. "Was that the guy? The one who took off after it?" he asked with concern.

Dels glanced up at Casimir and nodded once. "Help them with the sniffer." She told him as he asked what he could do. She really was starting to regret the fact that she'd given Marcos her hoodie. Had she just sent him to his death. Guilt gnawed at the fringes of her mind. No, he was a seasoned lycan and Lukias was there as well as Ravyn. Pack always protected pack. Her attention shifted as the smell of fresh human blood filled the tunnel. Hall returned with one and dropped in front of Rhys.
She glanced briefly at Hall as he dunked his head under the water. He had been acting a bit peculiar as of late. "Thanks Hall," She told him quietly, wanting to let him know she appreciated his help. He had grown on her like a bit of lichen during the time she spent showing him the ropes when he first came to the pack.
Rhys started in on the human and she couldn't help but feel revealed as his color came back and his wounds started to heal. She really wanted a chance at that jack tard that held her mate captive and starved him. She could feel the hackles raise as her lycan half wanted out. Fighting the dual nature of ones self was not always easy but time would come for that in a bit. Rhys handed her bits of his meal and she took them. It warmed her cockles, that despite his hunger he would give her choice pieces. Dels licked her lower lip as a shiver passed down her spine. Hers. She watched him change into the Rhys she remembered and much more.
Taking his hand she came to her feet next to him, and felt dwarfed by his presence yet protected at the same time. His voice so much stronger now. She looked to Hall and nodded. It was time for them to help Lukias and the others that had gone on ahead. The screams that echoed down the hall had her head whipping in that direction, her eyes widened in fear. Shit just got real. "Marcos.." She managed to tell Rhys her voice filled with shock. The connection of the pack gave a collective shudder under the pain he sent out. The sniffer and what ever else found him. Fear for Lukias and the others made her bristle. "We have to help." was all she managed and started for the tunnel.

The sounds of screams from down the tunnel had him already turning and charging towards the others. A growl in his throat given. As he heard Dels, he looked back nodding. Already the anger rolling through him and the shift fighting hard to take control. For one not born pack and bitten Casimir exuded a nice bought of control on himself. However, one that did not come without work and training on his own.
Hearing Lukais within his mind was awkward still something he was not used to. Feeling all the packs connected to him was a strange thing. Collectively, he could feel them all the reassurance from Rayvn and Lukais calling him closer telling him to come to him. He obeyed with a surge of strength and speed. Easily stalking them through the tunnels he paused only once as more screams had echoed through the tunnels and the pain that Marcos sent out over the pack connection.
His adrenaline raced as he finally pulled up and stopped near Lukais. " whatever you need. I have your back and that of the pack." Casimir spoke feeling Rayvn close and closing in to them. He would feel a lot better once she was there and when she finally was some of his worry eased but only a little. They were going to have their hands full and this sniffer and its handler were not going to give up so easily.
As Lukais told them to split up he nodded. Listening fully to the words and directions he was given. His mind already moving as he prepared to dive off into the tunnels and do as he was told anything to keep the sniffer from the lair. Carefully, and skillfully he began to weave a trail that worked its way away from the pack and the lair and out to surrounding areas listening for further directions from Lukais.

Hall finally raised his head out of the water shaking himself off and feeling considerably more in control than he had moments before. He caught Del's glance at him and grinned back at her. The brief hunt and sprint back had defused a lot of his earlier tension and Dels had never crowded him. With Casimir already gone after Lukias the only stranger in the room was Rhys and with the stink of silver pretty much dissipated that was something he could deal with easily enough.
The scent of fresh blood still pulled at him though and he kept his distance from Rhys and Dels as they ate, returning to the tunnel mouth and just listening. He looked back over at them as he heard Rhys getting up. There was a weight to his gaze now as he caught Hall's eyes with his. It put shiver through Hall's entire body not unlike when he thought too hard about Lukias. He nodded to Rhys, not quite trusting himself to say anything yet.
The sudden agonised screams that echoed down the tunnels and reverberated inside his head jarred Hall's attention away from Rhys before he eyes had started to roam again. The unaccustomed pack connection left Hall momentarily reeling with shock as he instinctively struggled desperately to shut Marcos out. The sharp spike of Del's fear and Marcos' pain set Hall growling again and had the muscles dancing under his skin as the urge to shift surged forward once more.
“NO!” Hall snapped unexpectedly at Dels, moving fast to put himself between her and the tunnel from which the scream had emanated. Ordinarily he might have just tried to catch hold of her but the way Rhys loomed over her now he didn't fancy having his arm ripped off for trying to touch her. “We regroup with Lukias... THAT'S what he said!” It still grated on Hall to be following orders but he'd be damned before he or anyone else in the pack was going to die because that lanky idiot Marcos didn't like orders either.
Hall grunted sharply in pain as he felt something slide loose inside him. “Ah... fuck!” he gasped, as his own pained cries merged with Marcos' renewed screams still echoing inside his head as his lycan form began to emerge determinedly and laboriously from his human flesh with a newborn's agonised slowness.

She glanced into the shadows to see the Alpha's wink and wolfish grin. Her own fears subsided at his nearness. She moved swiftly after him and paused after they came across Marcos. Ravyn's brow furrowed a moment as Lukias laid out his instructions for them.
She could handle that no problem. Circle around it and lead a merry game of chase. No problem. As Casimir reached them she could not help the little grin that tugged the corner of her lip up or the warmth that kinda spread over her. Lukias growl pulled her back to the now. Yea, she so had it bad for the new guy. Move as a pack, don't get close to it. Keep it away from the lair. she repeated the alpha's instructions in her mind over and over letting them sink in. After one last look at Casimir she took off to do what she was told.
Her path took her in a wider arch from the others. Every so often she paused to listen and scent the air. It moved somewhat sluggishly, the smells lingering in stagnant pockets. Her nose crinkled. To many smells confused her for a moment longer then she liked. The scrape of a foot across the packed tunnel floor made her freeze. Her whole being tensed as she listened, eyes wide. The whistling of a chain through the air and meaty impact caused her to whimper quietly. She moved in and her eyes froze open in terror. He had run head long right into the two intruders.
Marcos.. Her mind reeled under the onslaught of his pain. As images flickered for a moment. The fight that ensued caused a cold sweat to break out along her body. The handlers ham-handed hands gripped a barb spiked chain that he used like a circus master. Whipping it in the air so fast it was naught but a blur. It caught him first across the face tearing across his brow down ward. Laying the flesh open to the bone. His blood splashed over the tunnel walls gleaming dully in the darkness as he screamed in acute pain. She could see he never stood a chance. It didn't matter how big or strong you thought you were.
It cut the silence as he pulled it back and let it fly once more. Ravyn could not move a muscle. She'd never seen the like.. The chain lashed out catching him across his upper chest next spinning the huge lycan like a top. As a mass of crouched at the handlers feet. Its eyes took on a eerie hue, saliva dripped from it's gaping maw. A third time the chain whistled through the air breaking with a resounding snap over the now prone body of Marcos. The sound of soft flesh being ripped open caused her stomach to quiver in abject protest. The rank smell of his intestines being eviscerated hit her like a slap across the face. It snapped her out of her incapacitated state.
She must have made a sound, for in that one moment the sniffer locked eyes on her and she was caught like a deer in the headlights. It tugged at it's masters side with a low menacing growl and she knew she had to move. With a sudden clarity Lukias's words 'We need our numbers' played over in her mind. She spun on her heel and headed for the nearest of them. If she could get to Casimir and Lukias she wouldn't have to be alone in the tunnels. She scent a mental warning as her feet carried her swiftly from the carnage she'd witnessed.

Lukias had a feeling that Marcos was going to turn rogue and try to play hero. He kicked himself for not dominating him more often but Marcos personality was a little unsettling and he got possessive of the Alpha after a good fuck in the ass to teach him who was boss. It was OK to like it but pack tradition and way of life said that domination was to teach submission, it didn’t mean you had a sugar daddy…Lukias shuddered slightly. The pack didn’t need a weak link anyway. He was glad that the others listened to him and obeyed him without question.
“Everyone meet up by the skater tunnel, Rhys, get there fast, it’s on your trail, you are our best hope of leading it away from the lair. Dels, you’ll have to show him how to get there.” He sent out to everyone, not reacting emotionally to the alarm and sorrow that spread through his pack as Marcos breathed his last breath. He ran down the tunnel where he smelled Ravyn’s scent the strongest. She was the youngest so he would round her up first. He was glad to see she was already on her way. Without stopping, he simply turned on his heel and went down another tunnel after making eye contact. “Come.”
“Two groups, Hall go with Dels and Rhys, Cas, we are on our way to you.” He could smell him up ahead but wasn’t quite sure how far. He knew Ravyn could run faster so he moved to the side and let her run again, “Find him.” He focused the thought toward her.
It wasn’t long before they nearly ran into Cas and Lukias turned again, “Come.” He thought to him as he zoomed past the two and headed toward the skater gate.

One thing about young Lycans was the domino effect if one shifted around another. This was why it was up to the older Lycans to keep the younger ones under supervision and help them to keep from escalating. In this case, Hall had already escalated beyond return and his change was eminent. Rhys saw him begin to change and cursed, “Fuck!” he spun away from Dels as his arch back and his face elongated. He fell on all fours and cried out painfully as the change overtook him. The good thing about this was that the rest of the healing process was complete by the time the large black Lycan loomed over the smaller ones.
Rhys gave Hall a look and shook his head, he knew he couldn’t help it and thoughts of understanding were sent Halls was. He was still young enough that he could not stop the change if others changed near him. Perhaps he and Hall could become like brothers and help each other grow, have each other’s backs even more than on just a pack level. He turned and looked at Dels and shrugged. He was black from head to two but had remarkable markings. Everywhere he had been injured or scarred he had white lines. He had been whipped across his back so many times that his back was striped like a black tiger with white stripes. There were white stripes on his arms and legs as well.
Instinct would not let Rhys move another inch without scenting his mate and he shoved his nose into her womanhood and inhaled deeply. He let out a low rumble of possession then sat back. “Lead the way...” he thought to her since he did not know the tunnels. “Hall is right, we go to Lukias.” He wondered if Marcos had been an omega in the pack since the alarm he first felt was gone in only a moment and he did not feel any sorrow from anyone.

She could not quiet help the growling snarl that ripped from her as Hall yelled 'no'. Tensions were to high. Every second longer they waited her skin crawled even more with the need to change. "I know what Lukias said," she snapped at him with frustration. Did he honestly think she was going to lead them into the tunnels like that reckless fool had just done. She only just got Rhys back and was not in favor of being out of his sight or away from his side anytime soon. Nor would she do anything to harm Hall either. The damn pup had grown on her. She always wanted a brother. Halls swear, made her growl again. Sweat beaded along her brow as she protested for a moment. It was an pointless struggle.
Rhys jerked away as his own body gave in to the primal pull of the transformation. She cursed under her breath as she caught sight of his defacements. He had suffered more she had comprehended, displaying her own scar she was all to familiar with what each of those pallid marks were. With a choked grunt her own body contorted inward as she to started to shift. Her legs filled out as joints popped as well as realigned themselves, forcing her to become taller then she was a moment ago. Her chest expanded as she pulled in a deep breath. Her left arm caused her to whine as it pulled tautly against the scar that ran the length of it. 'Well shit, there goes another set of clothes,' she though with an irritated snort. Shaking off the last of what only took a matter of moments and felt like a small life time.
She glanced down at Rhys his rumble of possession did scintillating things to her insides. Hers. With a huff that sounded something like a hoarse chuckle, she looked to the tunnels as orders were received. The skate park.. It had been where she acquired her first meal. Where she had taken Hall likewise, to help him get used to being a lycan. Hoping that Hall would remember the way she sent them both a 'Come on,' and was off like a shot down the tunnel.
Her body fell into a steady lope as she made her way through the myriad labyrinth of tunnels. Dels kept to ones not used frequently by pack. The essences here were older except for those that the three would leave behind. Needing to make sure they were followed she brushed protrusions of rock leaving a clear trail and hoped that Rhys and Hall would do the same. It would madden their quarries senses.

Casimir came to a stop in the tunnels. The screams ripping through the tunnels had him cringe. As he felt the panic and pain through the shared link. Shaking his head as if trying to shake off a spider web. He refocused. Forcing himself not to let it slip. Struggling to keep thinking, listening and moving. As Ravyn and Lukais came up on him in the tunnels, he skidded to a halt barely missing a collision that would have caused them all valuable time.
Glad that he hadn't toppled them all over and caused further problems he stared at Lukias with that rapt attention focusing on what needed to be done and fighting the trimmer of emotions that now jolted along the mental link of the pack. There was fear and terror as some went into hiding. The mated pair's tension and excitement of finding each other again all of it was a clear test to Casimir's resilience glad that he had worked so hard for all those years the need to change was there itching along his skin but held at bay for the time. Nodding to Lukais he would fall in with Ravyn a nudge given to her gently in a way of letting her know he would always be there.
As he moved along with Ravyn and Lukias he made sure to make the walls with his scent as well. Knowing well how to leave them as he could. As well with the slight bit of blood and smells on him still from helping to clean up Rhys prior. The finality of the loss of Marco came when the death shutter went through them. Shaking his head at the loss of a member of the pack he was given no time to mourn it. There were still others that needed to be saved and protected. Mourning would have to come later for the lost member of the pack. It only went to show that hasty actions caused deadly outcomes.
Weaving through the tunnels making their way to the skate park Casimir wondered what they would do once everyone converged there was pounding in his head. Sure there was power in numbers but Casimir worried for his new-found pack members and the outcome. He had crossed lines with a sniffer only once, and it had been out of sheer luck that he had made it away alive and unscathed. Shaking his head as if to clear the images of the damage such a monstrosity could do he sped up bringing up the rear guarding both Ravyn and Lukais now.

The change had ripped painfully through Hall's body doing its work, organs expanding, crushing together and expanding more. His bones snapped and lengthened, joints grinding and popping as they realigned, ligaments tearing and reattaching as the lycan emerged. His whipcord muscles expanded gaining him bulk and strength as the deceptively soft looking dark brown fur rolled over his body and his pained cries cut off abruptly as his elongating skull tore through his skin before the thick lycan hide covered it again.
For only the second time there was no part of Hall that was resisting the shift. Like the very first time he had changed, that part of him was drowning in the fear and pain of a brutal assault, and even though this pain belonged to Marcos the pack link brought it home to Hall in a manner he could not deal with any other way. Hall shuddered as he dragged himself slowly back to his feet with a low whine of pain, finding Rhys and Dels already shifted and more than ready to go.
He made a small chuffing noise at Dels', grateful for her sense of humour right now. He could feel Rhys thoughts of understanding as he finally met his look and, much as he hated to admit it, it helped sooth the raw nerve that Marcos' abrupt severance from the pack had left in his psyche as well as his own irritation that he had failed to keep a hold on his shifting yet again. He felt a lingering anger towards Marcos that he couldn't quite pin down but he was glad that he was gone.
Hall heard Lukias' instructions echo in his mind. The pack connection was still a pretty freaky thing for him to accept, the idea that he couldn't hide, couldn't be alone even inside his own head had instilled real fear in him when it had first happened. Hall was not hugely gregarious, and that might have been the understatement of the decade, and the pack connection was about as invasive as things could get. It didn't help that he had so little control over what he 'heard' or 'said'.
It had been a huge relief to discover that for the most part he could shut it out when he wasn't right on top of pack-mates or in lycan form. Marcos' screams however had cut right through him and had left him seriously rattled. Hall had not expected the sense of closeness and support that he was feeling from Rhys right now. The other lycan was clearly no stranger to suffering and the power he carried within him was daunting. It should have been intimidating to Hall but somehow it wasn't; there was just the sense of connection.
Hall rubbed absently at the shiny black scar that he carried even in his lycan form; no fur grew where the demon had marked him. Here and now, Rhys was someone he could respect and follow into a fight. He made another chuff that might otherwise have been a chuckle as Dels sprinted off with her parting “Come on" and with an almost playful glance back at Rhys he sprinted after her, his long athletic stride rapidly devouring the distance between them though he was forced to drop back a little as he realised that she was taking a more circuitous route than the one he knew.
Hall had no idea what they were racing towards and he was content to wait on Lukias to explain when they got there. In the meantime... his own pride required that he test himself against Rhys in a friendly challenge. Every male in the pack was bigger, stronger and older than Hall but in speed and especially endurance he could most definitely hold his own.

She kept her sanity; though it was a near thing. Self preservation kicked into over drive as she raced toward the safety of pack. Ravyn gave a noticeable sigh of relief as Lukias loomed before her. Safe. She was safe now. At least she felt that way in the presence of the Alpha.
Ravyn gave him a quick youthful grin as they ran together for a moment and he moved aside to let her by. She nodded quickly at his order to find him. Casimir. The image of him sprang to the forefront of her mind and she sped down the tunnel toward him. With Lukias on her heels they came upon him quick enough. Ravyn leaned into the nudge he gave her unable to keep from seeking that small comfort. It settled her mind to know he was near and safe. After seeing the horror of what that thing did to Marcos she needed it.
They raced down the winding tunnels heading for the skate park. It was a decent wide open space. Thick with bushes that would provide coverage. She wondered how they would escape the notice of the VSF, if they were patrolling. Did Lukias intend to lure the sniffer there so the vamps would do the dirty work? Her mind raced as fast as her feet moved. So much so she almost lost her pace and stumbled over a bump in the floor. With a snort of self disgust she shook off her thoughts tried to keep from thinking to much.
The Alpha had a plan and all she needed to do was follow orders. Simple as that. She was grateful for the two larger males at her back as smells started to become clearer. The fresh green smell of vegetation and open air caused her to smile to herself. It wasn't often that she ventured away from the lair. Her brothers both kept her and Rylie on a short leash, well as short as they could any way. Lately they had both been distracted and Ravyn was grateful for what ever was keeping her brothers out of her hair.
The air currents became sharper as she pulled up and slowed down. Looking back to Lukias and Casimir she waited for what was to come next. Ravyn knew better then to burst headlong out into the park. No self respecting lycan would risk being caught or endangering the pack in such a manner. Her chest heaved slightly as she worked to slow her breathing after such a run.

Lukias ran ahead of them all, his mind only on gathering the small piece of his pack together so they could take out the sniffer together. He had a plan and he knew what to do. The question was, was this ragtag group ready to face this kind of challenge.
They were not his elite. They were a newborn, a pup, a loner, a cage fighter and a den mother. How was he going to bring this group of unlikely fighters together to take down such an impressive foe. He knew it was going to boil down to distractions from the weaker and an ambush by the three stronger males.
Hall, Dels and Ray were fast and quick on their toes. That thing would not be able to catch them in a chase. Yes, it could track them and run longer than they could but the chase would not be long enough to tire them before they killed the handler then subsequently the sniffer. In his mind it seemed easy, but in reality, he knew it would be very dangerous for them all.

Rhys felt amazing. Usually, he didn't like to shift because he was always alone and locked in a cage when it happened. But right now, he was about to do something he had longed to do for a very long time. He had spent hours pacing along the bars incide a locked cage, longing to cut loose and run, but it was never to be for the caged Lycan.
Seeing his love take off, he let out a growling snarl and took off after her. Hall was faster but he was more powerful, bigger and stronger. He was not about to let Hall get in the way between him and Dels. He was not about to let her get out of his sight. It took great powerful strides and all his strength to keep up with the two faster Lycans, but the sight of Dels fanny kept him inraptured and he could not help but keep up. All he wanted to do was mount her at that moment. His instincts were clouding his ming. The chase was not to a location, the chase was to beat the smaller Lycan to his woman and mount her before he could.
It was not until they all came skidding to a stop and Rhys slid into Dels and ended up in mounting position that he snapped out of it. He was out of breath, looking down at her and huffed out an uneasy laugh before nipping her neck and licking her ear then getting off her. It would have been so easy to lock with her but that would have to wait. He was glad he was in Lycan form, otherwise the others would probably have noticed his arousal visually. As it was they probably all smelled it. "Later. As a wolf, and as a man..." he promised her in his mind, sent only to her.

The tunnels twisted and stretched ahead of her. It had become familiar enough ground that she found herself just enjoying the sprint for a moment or two. She could hear Rhys and Hall behind her keeping pace. Her body all but thrummed with the anticipation of killing those that had brought harm to her mate. The sounds of those that had gone the other way started to become discernible and she slowed.
Seeing Ravyn, Casimir and Lukias up ahead; Dels pulled up to a sudden stop and gave them a soft huff by way of a greeting. Rhys covered her a moment later, his hard body and heat enveloped her. The scent of his pheromones washed over her and she ached back against him. His panting breath and laughter caused everything inside her to clench with heat in response. Ready for him immediately as his teeth nipped her neck. If she was in human form her face would more then likely be a comical expression of shock mixed with utter lust. His words filled her mind and her belly clenched tighter with need, teasing a soft whimper of submission from her.
Turning her head to look back at him her eyes seeking his for a moment, letting him see her complete acceptance of him. Now was not the time though to be making googly eyes at her mate. With reluctance she pulled her attention to the others and waited for what Lukias would have them do. He had a plan she was sure. Looking at those gathered it was a motley mix.. not even the Beta was with them. There was strength in their numbers at least. 6 Lycan's against a human handler and a mutant thing. Granted they were not all seasoned fighters but a good battle plan could accommodate for that. At least Dels sincerely hoped it would.
