Phantoms
ORIGIN
Seamen have for centuries told tales of sirens calling to their ships, captivating the crews and causing them to be drawn into the rocks and sink. It is believed that these creatures are the ancestors of phantoms. Once able to get aboard a ship that actually managed to not sink, the phantoms moved into the citys, drawn to the opera houses and theatres where they could find live music to feed their hungry souls.
Phantoms are not born. They merely ARE. They do not know how they came into existence anymore than anyone else does.
After the apocalypse, the Phantoms mostly migrated to London. They were quite at home there and accepted by the general populations for their eccentricities and found that not only were they captivated by angels, angels seemed drawn to them as well. This worked out for everyone. When London fell and was burned to the ground, Phantoms were the majority of the select few that survived.
Through the efforts of Thor Ericsson and the Apocalyptica owners, many artifacts from the opera houses and theatres were brought back to New Vegas in the hopes that the Phantoms would follow these items that belonged to them. As of yet only one of the Phantoms has made an appearance haunting the Apocalyptica.
CULTURE
Phantoms are solitary creatures with an active antipathy towards others of their own kind. They live in opera houses, theaters and concert halls or anywhere live music is played. They are attracted to it, live for it, feed off it. The more beautiful and captivating the music, the more attracted they are to it. Once they find a place they claim it as their own. Phantoms guard their territory jealously and other Phantoms are NOT welcome. Species code is: Masquerade. Phantoms do NOT leave their place of residence unless it is absolutely necessary.
APPEARANCE
Phantoms are creatures who’s souls are comprised of music. They may have any appearance though most have a theatrical look to them. Many of the Phantoms from London carry scars from the fires. Never having been born they have only an 'apparent age'.
ATTITUDE
Phantoms do not interact with the populace as a whole. They are shy and elusive, mostly communicating with music and are known to sing out their emotions rather than express them like a human would. They will not actively seek interaction with others unless they are singing or playing exceptional music. A phantom will generally be drawn to one person who shows extraordinary musical ability. A Phantom's social circle RARELY goes beyond 3-4 people in its lifetime.
ABILITIES
Phantoms can fade into shadow and travel through them unnoticed at remarkable speeds. They can slip under doors and through crevices as if they were merely a shadowy mist.
Phantoms have captivating melodies; irrespective of genre or audience, a Phantom's music is always breathtakingly beautiful. A Phantom could sing Opera at a Thrash Metal concert and still get a standing ovation.
WEAKNESSES
They are tied in with objects that belong to them and will stay with those objects. If needed, they will move their own objects to a new place where music resides.
They are not immortal because they can be killed just as any human can.
They have no concept of money or people, only music and the creation thereof.
