The open road was a very risky place to be, especially alone. There was something to be appreciated about solitude but appreciation didn’t over rule the basic instinct of survival. London was still young, held inexperience that could very well be the difference between life and death. She was well bred, hailing from a Chicago pack where her father had been Alpha. With that came certain responsibilities that London had grown up with an understanding of. Since being over run and having to fend for herself some of those responsibilities had been demoted. She felt drained almost, the way that a battery might as it was running low and at the end of its life. Food was scarce, as was water and shelter; all the necessary amenities that life needed to be properly sustainable and that wasn’t something that she was finding out in the wastelands. London was a subject of circumstances, forced to adapt to them or suffer the consequences.
It wasn’t where she wanted to be nor the life that she wanted to lead, but the cities that she had been to before didn’t seem to have the right fit. She hadn’t been able to click with a pack on the level that she thought she needed and settling wasn’t something that London was willing to do until she had explored all other sources. Settling somewhere that she didn’t belong could be just as dangerous as staying out on her own. New Vegas was that shining beacon in the far distance that was calling to her weary feet. Twenty more miles to go, the information being pumped through her mind and updated with each mile that she walked- something to look forward to and keep her motivated to continue soldiering on. London was hungry, tired, and thirsty all around at her wit's end with all this trekking. Even still she knew that once she made it into the city she wouldn’t be resting her sleepy head on a luscious pillow and taking a load off. There were dangers in the city too- an ancient enemy. The only advantage she had at the moment was that the sun was beating down, bright and scorching. ----- Three days, that’s how long it had been since London entered New Vegas. Three days of hiding once the sun set, covering her tracks and skimping by on whatever meal that she could scrounge up for the day. How the mighty could fall and London was almost at the bottom of the barrel. Those beautiful features of hers were blemished with dirt and grim, her silky hair oily and in desperate need of being brushed thrown up into a ponytail so it would be slightly more manageable, she was a pathetic shadow of what she had once been and yet none of that seemed to matter to her at the moment. Being pretty wasn’t a priority, survival was and London would be damned if she didn’t fight tooth and nail to find her way back to a place of comfort. As night fell so did she, laying low in the sewers, in a niche that so far she had been undisturbed in, perhaps because it was off the beaten path.
London had accumulated a few things in her small, insecure space of sanctuary. A fresh water supply, though not much, a few personal items like a doll made a yarn all weathered with spots of dirt bled into the string no bigger than the size of a child’s palm, an old book its leather binding faded and the spine weakened from the damage it had taken over the years and especially more recently, a few trinkets as well with no real sentimental value other than the purpose of making it more homey. A pair of candles, whose wax had nearly been completely melted, lit the small area dimly, but London settled in pulling a tattered blanket over her as she slumped against the wall letting its coolness seep into her. Hearing footsteps she quickly blew out the candles putting her in near total darkness hoping that whoever it was would pass her by.

Lukias was plagued by dreams of the woman again. It was bad enough that she was, in his mind, the perfect mate. He knew everything about this woman in his dreams. She was raised by a pack leader to be a pack leaders mate. She was strong and confident, sexy and alluring yet composed and commanding in her presence. Too bad she was only a dream. He would never meet her, never know her. Maybe it was best that she was only in his dreams. She was safe there. Lukias didn't have much luck with mates.
Lukias rolled out of his bed in a cold sweat. The woman had been in a den of Worgens. They had turned on her and she had run. He could see her but he could not reach her. He could not save her, he could not protect her. Upon the mighty leap of a Worgen in her direction, he had jerked awake covered in perspiration.
The prime male grabbed a towel by the bed and wiped his face and head off before getting out of bed. He pulled on a faded pair of jeans and his boots before searching his drawer for a shirt. The black t-shirt he found was a little snug but it allowed for ease of movement. As quietly as possible, he sneaked out of his room. He saw movement to his right and knew it was one of his honor guard. They would follow him at a distance to allow privacy but to be close enough and sound alarm if necessary. He needed to run. There were places that were safe to run inside the city walls at night. No one patrolled the trash heaps or the old town ruins and mutants rarely made their way out into those areas and if they did, they would simply run and hide. No reports would be made.
As Lukias walked a familiar scent teased his nose. It must have been left over from his dream. In his dreams he knew the scent of the woman, intimately. He knew the woman's body intimately. There were many times he woke up still smelling her on his body. He growled at himself for clinging to the dreams memory. He shook the scent away. Before long the scent got stronger. His head tilted to the side and he sniffed the air. It wasn't a dream. He half shifted to where his clothing didn't rip. Not many Lycan's could do this, only the very oldest of his kind. It opened his sense of smell and multiplied it by 10. He sniffed the air again and opened his elongated dagger filled snout and inhaled to get a larger sample. He walked slowly, his boots making soft sounds only another Lycan could hear. His hands made no sound at all.
Lukias didn't have to follow the scent far before he heard movement. He smelled hot wax mingled with the scent of "her". He turned into a little crevice and squeezed through into a small space just large enough to be like a small room. This is where the scent was strongest. He huffed and sneezed to clear his nasal passages before inhaling again. This was, most certainly the source of the small and someone had been living here.
The slightest movement, under a cover, caught his attention. One quick movement took his massive body to it. His body put out pheromones that would tell any Lycan he was an Alpha and he let out soft whining growls of warning so no sudden moves would be made as he assessed the newcomer. He sniffed the end of it and recognized it as a live body. A Lycan body. He sniffed his way up what would be her leg, yes, she was female. The scent...it was her. It was the woman in his dreams, or her scent at least. As most Lycan's do he pushed at the cover with his nose until he found her nether regions and inhaled deeply. No doubt about it, she was female, fertile and the scent was the one from his dreams. He raised a clawed hand, pulled the blanket down and peered into her eyes, "You're real..." he exclaimed softly and shifted back to full human form.

She could smell it too as the figure slicing into the silence approached closer, the familiar scent of another lycan. That didn’t mean that London would be jumping up to greet the kindred soul. Not all were welcoming of strangers, it was understandable, the lack of trust that came with being a newcomer always put you on the outside of the pack and you had to earn your way in. That had been the problem with the previous packs that London had come across in her travels. None of them seemed to be able to grasp her loyalty- they weren’t the right places for her. She had been apprehensive about New Vegas and wanted to get a better feel for it before she went seeking out whatever pack, or possibly packs, resided here. Caution in her position was a necessary thing. If London could have at that very moment she would have phased through the wall to avoid a confrontation that she wasn’t sure she was up to par for. Werewolves could be very territorial and she was by all intents and purposes, a trespasser.
As the male, who now that he was almost right on her London could recognize the difference, came around the corner her body tensed doing her best to stay as still as possible though doubted it would do much good other than to keep from coming across as threatening. The pheromones that came off of him were immediately recognized as that of an Alpha, she would know it anywhere. It was the similar scent of her father, though personalized to this particular lycan, the same scent that she had grown up around for years. London understood what was required of her, especially when dealing with an Alpha. Submission was a policy that one shouldn’t soon forget and despite having been on her own for quite some time, London hadn’t forgotten. She had been raised to be an Alpha’s mate, knew the ins and outs of the pecking order and exactly what she needed to do, which was give this lycan free reign.
His presence was overwhelming, London could feel the heat coming off of his body in waves and it prickled at her skin, warming her to the point that a shiver rippled through her body. Though on first instinct London had the urge to shy away she remained immovable letting the lycan sniff her to his satisfaction. His nose burying in her lap caused a pleasant sigh to pass her lips. Considering that he was male it did give her a slight advantage as to his reaction to her, possibly, being in his territory. Females were always more welcome, it kept the members of the pack happy when adding a potential mate into the mix. Watching his hand move toward her London was surprised in herself for holding her ground and not cowering away in fear that he was about to strike her. He hadn’t growled at her and something, perhaps the vibe that he was giving off, told London that she was safe with him.
The blanket peeled back revealing her full form to the half transformed lycan. Locking gazes with him London was drawn in by him, attracted not only to his authority and prowess but also on a deeper level, a connection that came more with, if she had believed in such a thing, soul mates. London searched his eyes for a moment watching them change back into their human form and still found herself captivated by him. His words didn’t make sense, not completely at least. The notion that he meant she was alive passed through her mind but automatically wrote that off. He meant something more intimate than that, some personal realization. ”Yes…” She kept her tone soft, docile giving him the respect that he automatically earned as being an Alpha. He was handsome, London noted this as her gaze slipped over his features and down his well build body. The physicality of him made it obvious why he was Alpha, even without seeing the rest of the pack, but there was something in the way he carried himself as well that demanded authority, commanded respect from those around them and London found herself inclined to give him both.

The woman was obviously well bred. She was as well bred as one could be in this post apocalyptic world. She was regal as they were back in the old days when they lived in communities; luxury homes built with corporations owned by the oldest of families, Lukias’s being one of them. Everyone knew who Lucian Aman was and his death had shocked the Lycan society for a time. Lukias had to fight to keep his position and any comers that challenged him were dispatched without mercy. He was his father’s son and he had promised his father to take care of the pack before he died. She would most likely know who he was if her family was from one of the originals, she had to be, her blood smelled so pure. “I am Lukias Aman.” He said softly and reached his hand out for hers, “And you are home.” He knew in his heart that he had dreamed of her because she was to be his mate. There were no others who were candidates to be an alpha’s wife other than Dels and she was mated to Rhys. He could have mated her and Rhys would have had no choice but to let him, and he most likely would have been honored but Lukias was not that way. That would have been a last resort. Everything about this woman was familiar. He wondered if she had ever dreamed about him. If she had that would make the mating easy because she already knew him, the way he knew her. He knew she had to be his spirit mate, born to be his, under blood moon on a day when his blood had been shed. He didn’t know when but that was how it worked. If an alpha’s blood is shed on a blood moon, any female born on that day could be the one who was born for him. He wondered when it happened. He knew he was lucky; these matings produced the strongest pups. “Come, gather your things.” He said softly, “I mean it when I say you are home. I dreamed of you, I knew you were coming, eventually.” He reached out with his free hand and touched her cheek, “You took your time, but I am sure you are worth the wait.” He smiled with his endearing smile, perfect straight white teeth. He felt inside him that she would come willingly. If he felt the connection so strongly, she had to feel it. How could she not. In any case, if she didn’t come willingly, he would simply caveman it and carry her home. He just met her and he knew he couldn’t live without her. She was his destiny.

The initial cautiousness and timid nature wasn’t just because he was an Alpha it was because London had been alone for so long that socializing had been pushed back out of the forefront of her mind and was replaced with a stronger need to guard herself than she had ever felt before. Her previous encounters, though few and far between hadn’t been the most receptive of welcomes and with the way he had sprung on her, though hadn’t harmed her, London wasn’t quite sure how he would take her until the point that she had made eye contact with the man. There was something about them. A familiarity that London only knew from dreams and a soothing quality that made her want to trust him wholeheartedly. It wasn’t until he spoke to her again that London found her defenses lowering.
Aman, she knew that name. There had been great lore of Lucian, which her own father had told her and Paris when they were pups. She had come to respect the name through those stories and seeing his offspring now, via the presence that the line of Alpha’s gave off. He was strong, worthy of the title that he held and the legacy that he had come from. Home? London hadn’t have one of those in ages and the term seemed so sweet rolling off of Lukias’ tongue. It was honest, worming its way into her heart and seizing her tightly wrapping a warmth around her that she needed to be trusting of him. Home,” The word repeated from her lips brought a smile to them, soft and reminisce. ”I’m London Parale.” She returned the introduction.
There was the base instinct that she belonged to him that was creeping its way through her body, the instant attraction and feeling that she had been specifically made for Lukias. London hadn’t suspected it before because she was a twin, but her brother was dead now so perhaps fate knew its design all along. His instructions were only hesitated in being followed for a mere moment so that she could indulge in his affectionate touch and mesmeric smile. Gathering up only the things that she had in her possession of sentimental value London paused glancing over her shoulder at Lukias for a brief moment. He was everything that she could have hoped for and there was a part of her that wondered if she had fallen asleep and this was nothing more than another dream.
Finishing her task London went to his side. It felt as though it was her rightful place. Putting a hand to his chest, needed to feel that he was solid and not simply some mirage that had come to her in her sleep, London felt the firmness of his pectoral muscles and that inkling of doubt that lingered was forced out of her mind. ’I dreamed of you too.” It seemed surreal to her that one day the man of her dreams could come to form and be right in front of her, but London was ready to accept it, to accept him. She had waited long enough, and from what Lukias had said so had he, for this moment and now that it was finally here she wasn’t going to taint it with doubts or cynicism. When a good thing came along a wise person took the liberty of enjoying it while it lasted.

Lukias looked down at London as she approached him then looked down at her hand on his chest. It belonged there. Everything about her belonged with him.
Lukias took London's bag and slung it over his shoulder then put his large hand over her delicate, yet strong hand and folded it around it like it was the most natural thing in the world, for him it seemed to be. He dropped their hands between them and began to lead the way back to the lair.
He didn't want to rush the trip back to the lair. He wanted her to be aquainted with the tunnels that led there. He pointed out the chalk marks on the wall. "This is how we navigate through here. Everything looks the same, sometimes the smell towards the surface is too strong to trust your senses." he looked at her to make sure she was understanding what he was saying, "They are codes, think of an inverted compass, everything is backwards so even if they do figure it out, they go the wrong way." he chuckled slightly and continued to explain how the code worked so she would never get lost.
"The pack is growing every day but the get is weak and pup loss is common, those that survive are strong. I was beginning to worry that I would have to pass the pack on to one of my Beta's if I did not have an heir soon. But he is from Alpha stock so at least the bloodline would stay strong." he gave her hand a squeeze, "I'm glad I won't have to do that. If we get large enough, we can split the pack to purify the bloodlines once more. Things would be more like they used to be."
He had barely noticed that they had gone from the sewers and entered the underground Subway station through a hatch up above them. "This is the way to home." he informed her, "You didn't think I would have the pack in the sewers did you?" he smiled. "There are two other ways in but the sewers are most convenient because it keeps snoopers out and its not like they are used any more." he informed her. The subway station was dark but it looked like a grand palace with rich maroon and gold etching on the giant pillars that stretched from the ceiling to the floor.
Lukias was aware of the sentries that were hidden in the shadows but he ignored them. It was not up to him to give away their positions, he was just pleased to see that Marcos old post was occupied. He didn't know how often reports came to him that Marcos was not at his post. He was a weak link in the pack and that is why he was dead.
He saw the entrance to the main corridor that lead to the caverous dwelling area that had once housed the offices for the subway crew and old subway cars that now served as homes for his pack. He knew the sounds of hammers was a danger but he knew it was necessary, as was the digging in the far south corridor. He knew where that tunnel lead and it meant increased safety for his people. He pointed at it as they entered. "That is a corridor leading to a government facility. I know it's there and I know there are solar generators and running water in there. It will be less like a circus caravan and more like civilization." he knew that it was months away as they had to be careful and he would not risk even one life.
As the eyes of the pack met them, the males were met with a look that dropped their eyes immediately. She was his and there would be no challenge that would not end in death. Most of the females were surprised to see him with a newcomer who was obviously the offspring of an alpha. They lowered their heads in respect for the woman they knew would be their Alpha's mate and their leader. Lukias left no time for introductions, none were needed until he reached his door. He turned and looked at everyone, "Her name is London." he said simply then pulled her into his quarters and shut the door.
"Welcome home. These are our quarters." he said softly as he turned and put his hand on her cheek. "You are more beautiful that I dreamed and I didn't think that was possible." He stepped away and pointed at a small door, "There is a shower in there, this was the foreman's office before everything went to hell." he informed her, "The water is warm enough in the summer." he smiled and waved a hand toward it, "If you need help scrubbing your back, let me know." he said brazenly.

Just from the simplest of touches Lukias was able to make her heart flutter. It was the natural order of things, she had been born to be with him and now that they had found one another all the missing links in London’s life were clicking into place. She smiled softly up at him happy to be in her rightful place at his side. The tunnels hadn’t been explored that much by her in the short time of London’s stay. For safety she had remained close to where she was sleeping only venturing out for the essentials of her survival. She did everything possible to stay off of the radar, even the other werewolves that she had sensed in the distance. It had been out of fear, which wasn’t something that London was proud of but she never had been recklessly brave but instead thoughtful over her actions. Her father had taught her that as an Alpha everything you did affected the rest of the pack and as such you had to heed more caution, take all possibilities into consideration before acting on anything. Impulse was something that needed to be controlled.
Following Lukias through the tunnels London paid close attention to her surroundings taking in what he explained to her. It was a clever system and obviously was doing its job. If the vampires had discovered the lair from deciphering the codes along the walls then London imagined that they would relocate after being raided. She set what she was told to memory for later use. In her pack, however, her mother had never gone anywhere unescorted. Maybe it was the same in Lukias’ pack but self-reliance was always better to have and not use versus need and not have.
Survival of the fittest had always been a staple in the history of the world. It was unfortunate that their numbers could so easily dwindle- in the course of a few hours her pack had been destroyed via a virus- that just went to show that even with their superior abilities they couldn’t be frivolous with their actions. As sad as even the mere thought of pup loss was to London she held the understanding that these things did happen and had come to terms with it. Passing on the position of Alpha was to be given to that of your own offspring, anything less was somewhat an affront but in desperation one did what they had to for the greater good of the pack. Now that she was there though Lukias’ bloodline could continue to rule. London glanced down at their entwined hands instinctively leaning into him slightly for a moment between strides. ”I’m confident that we can boost our numbers.” With the happiness of their Alpha came the unspoken approval for others to find happiness themselves without guilt. It was all the encouragement needed to flourish.
The subways were a hidden beauty in their own right. Rising through the hatch from the sewers London was back at Lukias’ side like an attracted magnet. When she was away from him she could feel the pull tempting her back to him. Her senses tingled with the familiar sensation of others present but because Lukias wasn’t worried neither was she, assuming that whoever was hidden in the shadows were supposed to be there, guards of some type she imagined. ”I honestly didn’t know what to expect. I just know that now that we’ve found each other, anywhere can be home.” Her tender sentiment seemed to flow from her lips so effortlessly.
London’s curiosity turned toward the sound of hammers digging away at something to the South. She didn’t need to ask as Lukias was quick to inform her of their purpose. He was proving to be every bit as worthy of being an Alpha. Lukias was intelligent and resourceful, among other things that she was sure to discover in time. Those in the main corridor were slowly venturing out to the open to get a look at them as they passed. A new member to the pack always drew a crowd but especially when you gave off the presence that you came from an Alpha line. London had experienced this reaction before in the previous packs she had visited. The reception by the Alphas though hadn’t been favorable. They anticipated descent in ranks because their mates had already been chosen. To have another Alpha bloodline in the pack was a recipe for disaster.
She kept her head held high and her gaze forward displaying the dignified appearance that she had been taught to. Later London would mingle amongst the pack members and get to know them, but in that moment she knew that it was best to keep her mouth shut and make it to the privacy of Lukias’ quarters. She needed to get better acquainted with their Alpha before she did them. Once in the sanctity of their bedroom London allowed her emotions to show, melting at Lukias’ touch. ”As harsh as reality can be, sometimes it offers sweetness as well.” London had finally found her place, where she fit and that was the most precious thing that she had ever experienced in her life as of yet. Her lips tugged upward at the corners in response to his offer. ”I think I just might.” Taking his hand London started toward the shower.

Lukias felt more at home with this woman than with anyone else he had ever come into contact with. It was as if he had known her all his life but she was always just out of reach, hiding in the recessed shadows of his dreams. Her hand fit perfectly in his and it made him wonder what else fit and where. He was trying to move slowly but his body was betraying him. Every thought of touching her thrust him into a deep and aching need to feel her body against his skin and tightened the groin area of his britches.
“I think I just might.”
The fact that she took his hand and began leading him toward the shower spoke volumes and all his defenses dropped. He folded his hand around hers and it was as if she lit his veins on fire. The short distance to the door took an eternity but he was quick enough to open it for her when they got there.
With baited breath, Lukias pulled the curtain back and turned on the water. At first it smelled stagnant and flat but soon the scent of fresh water filled the air. He turned to face her with an intense, desire filled look in his eyes. “Let me help you with those.” He rumbled as he reached for the buttons on her blouse. Slowly, one by one, he began unbuttoning her top. Slowly, he let his fingers slink in the brush against her skin. He let out a soft, low growl of approval as his fingers made contact with bare skin.
He was very quickly losing control of himself and his trousers were a popup tent indicator of arousal. He lifted a hand to her cheek and cupped it ligtly then leaned in to brush his lips over her opposite cheek. “I want you. I want to taste you. I want to feel you.” He purred into her ear. He never wanted her to feel as if she had to let him touch her. She was to be his equal in the pack; no submission in private company, only small acts of submission in view of the pack. Here, they were alone. “Say the word and I’ll back off…for now…or say the word and we will be one.” His last words were filled with desire and seduction.

In her youth when her mother had explained the duties of an Alpha’s mate to her she had bee a little bit wary over it. London had thought that it would be a difficult task for her to simply give in to the needs that the Alpha had but the moment that she realized who she was to Lukias everything just seemed to fall into place as it rightfully should have. Him touching her, and her touching him felt natural to her. London wanted to feel his tight embrace her body buzzed over the notion of it trickling yearning throughout her. Lukias seemed to radiate lust and London’s emotions mirrored that. Heading to the shower she wanted him much more in that moment than she did a shower.
Her smile tugged at the corners of her mouth as Lukias began to undress her. She could feel him even when he wasn’t touching her. His presence was still there undoing the buttons one by one. The bass in his growl washed over her making London shiver pleasurably. Lukias’ touch made her tingle. Closing her eyes for a moment London thoroughly enjoyed the sensations that he excited in her from the simplest of actions. Her instincts were twitching to give herself over completely to him. London leaned into his hand sighing softly at his kiss. He could have done anything to her at that moment and she would have been putty in his hands ready to be played with however Lukias saw fit.
”I’m yours to have.” London responded looking up at him with that tinge of desire sparkling in her eyes. It had been a long time since her womanly needs had been satisfied and finally coming across the only man that could please her in every possible aspect…going slowly just seemed like a waste of time to her. London’s fingers smoothed down his torso pausing at the waistband of his trousers only long enough to unbutton them and give some relief from their confines. She leaned in fitting her body up against his as close as would be possible under the circumstances and hooked her arm around the back of his neck to lower him enough to snag a kiss.
