Valene had the night off as she had rested finally the past few days between shifts at the ER and her secret help with Takias she had drained herself significantly. Just tired and reserve needing a moment to gather herself. She had not seen Jack in a few days and had worried over his well being. Her arms shifted from the covers in the bed where she had lain resting. Stretching over her head, she uncurled from the position of comfort and eased from the bed. Her gaze traveling over the simple comforts of her room on the hallowed grounds where she had taken up residence. The showers and things still worked in the old home of the priest and nuns who had resided there long ago. The church having been abandoned way before the time. Slipping from the bed she stretched once more her fingers connected over her head and pulled her into a tip toed stretch that coaxed all the kinks and cramps in her muscles free.
Smiling she brushed her fingers through her brilliant crimson locks slipping into the bathroom to get herself clean. After she took the time to let the shower of water wash over her form and wipe away the still half slumber of sleep, she had turned the water off gotten herself dressed and decided to head out into the night. She hoped to find Jack perhaps and see him spend some time with him. If not, she would gladly lose herself among the people of the city. Simple wedge sandals were laced upon her dainty feet. A sleeveless cotton sundress was slipped upon her form several laces criss crossed against the flesh of her back the skirts swirled about her legs as she gathered a few of her things and slipped out of the home and sacred grounds of the garden.
She wandered down Freemont street watching the street performers and other people playing games on the side. Stopping here and there she looked at several of the vendors. Paying a lady for some of her beautiful necklaces she made out of beads of glass. Her blue eyes glittered with pleasure as they shifted a lighter blue and then faded. As she passed some people, she felt their despair at having lost their savings while playing slots. The guardian in her could not let them go hungry this night, so she pretended to find credits on the ground and tapped them on the shoulder. " Excuse me. You dropped this. I just watched it fall from your pocket." She smiled as the woman looked at her shocked. A simple brush of her hand she took the womans worry from her and invoked calm as she coaxed her to take the gift and leave. Moving on the smile on her face never faded as she lost herself in the crowd of Freemont and the lively world she now lived in.
Children ran past her giggling as they played with toys that parents had gotten them happy to be free of the school time and in a rush to get home. A father and son sat beside each other several buckets and items around them together they played a steady beat on the items like they were drums. It was here that Valene had stopped her head tilted as she watched the enjoyment that it seemed to bring the two. It was moments like these that she loved and in this moment, she wished that she could have Jack here with her to enjoy this. His story had affected her to think that he had gone so long alone through this world it saddened her. Her eyes closed as she swayed slightly to the beat of the music losing herself in the night.
