Malach was sulking. It wasn't something he was particularly good at given his usual attention span as other things would generally distract him quite quickly from whatever had irked him, but this incident had been particularly annoying and he had been sulking for the better part of an hour now which was something of an achievement for him.
His initial irritation at the human had dissolved as he had been taken with the idea of of finding the serial killer himself and seeing if he were more amenable to a game. Malach however had no idea how to go about doing that, it being the reason he had been so intrigued by the human detective in the first place. His thoughts having come full circle he had begun to sulk. Why had the human not wanted him?
Even his original idea of finding a lycan no longer held any appeal to him, not once he had taken a quick look down the manhole the VSF had been gathered around and realised just what was down there anyway... He had retreated swiftly, thoroughly disenchanted and more than a little disgusted with the idea of dirty, smelly, stupid lycans. They were clearly even worse than he had vaguely remembered them to be.
The rather formidable “KEEP OUT” sign was the first thing he had spotted in the last hour to grab his attention. A fence so marked was instantly something that Malach needed to be on the other side of with an urgency that could be considered disturbing. But then Malach in a sulk was a very disturbing creature indeed. What he found beyond the fence however dispelled his ill-humour in an instant.
The Sanctuary park was a gloriously verdant world contained within the city like a secret garden or a hidden grotto, filled with marvels of beauty and wonder. Malach was positively delighted. Swiftly he resumed his humanoid form all the better to experience the feel of the lush grass between his toes and the brush of foliage against his skin.
As he wandered slowly through the park towards the sound of rushing water he could hear and occasionally see glimpses of other creatures, timidly hiding or curiously watching him. He found the whole situation suddenly funny and his light musical laughter rang out across the meadow. Malach had no reason to conceal his presence; to his mind the whole world was one great big toy just waiting for him to deign to notice it and invite it to play.
By the time he reached the waterfall he found he had become tired of the pretty, silk clothing and casually shed it, simply dropping it to the ground and promptly forgetting about it. He kept only the carved Smiladon fang that was both his prison and the key to his freedom, though now it hung at his hip from a braided, seamless belt of silver and titanium that caught the light like a rainbow.
He simply stood a moment by the pool's edge enjoying the feel of the sun on his naked skin as it shimmered from the intricate tribal tattoos that adorned his body. The light breeze played through his baby-fine blonde hair and his mismatched eyes glittered with pleasure, reflecting the blues and greens from all around him. With another tinkling laugh he dove into the cool clear pool.

Arms stretched and reached over her head as she tried to lift on her hind legs in desire of the apple hanging from the tree over her head. It was the hours like now that seemed to weigh on her. She missed her human legs more than anything but she was at home in this form as she was in the other. Having been this way all of her life. Once again, she was bored in the safety of the sanctuary. Her guardians the elementals that found her had brought her here when she was young and settled her into the life she had now. The only thing given to her was the beautiful top of sea glass and shells that were braided with kelp and other vegetation of the sea. Light played over her long light blonde hair the slight breeze played with it lifting the long curves over her form and hiding the upper half of her body. From behind someone might mistake her for a horse. The steady swish of her tail came with the stamp of her rear hoof in frustration as the apple was just out of her reach.
If it was time for her to be human, she could have climbed up in the tree and had the red ripe juicy fruit she so desired. Her tongue peeked past her lips in a cute thoughtful way while she stretched once more. Fingers barely curled to the leaves of the tree as she thought to pull the branch down and snag the delicious treat. It was the bright sound of laughter that scared her. Causing her to jerk the leaves snapped from the tree. The branch flew up with a fast ascent and the apple popped free from the vibrations falling to clock her on the head. "Ouch!" she yelped a little and flinched back from the tree. Her hoof without thought kicked out angrily at the apple. Sending it skidding across the grass over the edge of the pool and into the water. Darting after it, she dove in an easily swam down careful to retrieve the now bruised fruit.
As she bit into the apple hiding now in the sanctuary of the water fall, she watched the water top and marveled at the distorted world above. It was then she noticed a man at the pools' edge. Her head tilted as she swam a little closer to the pools' edge but stayed hidden in some of the lily pads and cattails watching him. He disrobed causing her to blink. He was very handsome, which kept her interest. A giggle escaped her under water only causing a slight disturbance of water on the pools top. Which could have been mistaken for a fish or other creatures of normal design. It was then that the shiny fang hanging from the seamless belt of silver and titanium caught her attention. The rainbow colors called to her and when he finally dove into the pool she swam along behind him trailing trying to find the perfect time to sneak up. Her movements were seamless through the water, and she was sure to keep just out of his sight. Finally, a moment opened to her.
Her lips curled into a wicked smile as her hand darted out seizing the smiladon fang with a jerk she quickly started to swim away, Thinking the belt would break she had swum a good distance pulling him down with her deeper towards the bottom. Hoping to disappear with her stolen treasure. Clearly, the escape was failing. She turned back realizing the weight of her stolen item was more than it should be. Her brilliant blue eyes glittered like gems beneath the water as she looks at him curiously. Her head tilts and with her other hand braced on his chest, she starts to try to pry the belt from him. Jerking him back and forth through the water. His shiny tattoos distract her only a moment before her thoughts of the item she's trying to get from him comes to mind. Swimming towards the shore with her efforts to detach the item from him, she starts to emerge from the water dragging him along with her taking him towards a small collection of rocks.

Malach entered the water with barely a ripple. It was not that he was in any way attempting to impress anyone, well not at that precise moment anyway, simply that he had existed for long enough that anything he had a care to do he did with perfection. Besides, there was little else to do when you were trapped in your own perfect little world for a perfectly unendurable amount of time than to bore yourself into perfection. Malach loved being out in the human world, it was such a totally marvellous mess. Perfection was easy, it was the tiny flaws in things that captured Malach's attention. Like with a precious gem, it was the imperfections that gave the world value.
Breaking the surface again Malach shook his head, sending the water droplets flying from his hair as if they were unable to find purchase on something so fine. The pool was cool and clear and he loved playing in water. Deserts were pretty enough and the sand was always a very tactile experience but water was better. In fact sand at the bottom of water was particularly interesting, there were so many things that hid in sand. Ducking back under the water he swam down to the bottom of the pool to see what was there but was disappointed to find it only a little murky and muddy.
He was swimming back up towards the surface when he thought he spotted a water-snake. He called out to it in the way djinn had with all reptiles and was so intent upon finding it again that he failed to pay any attention to the small disturbance in the water as the kelpie glided stealthily up behind him. Suddenly there was a rough jerk to the belt he wore and he was rushing backwards through the churning water being towed fast back towards the bottom of the pool. He writhed, sinuous as a snake himself to catch a glimpse of what had caught him and a pale green sheen spread over his skin giving his body a phosphorescent glow rather like a jellyfish.
Quite suddenly she stopped swimming and turned to look at him and a cloud of bubbles escaped from Malach's lips as he took in the expression on her face. Confusion, curiosity, perplexed frustration as she tried again to shake him loose from the belt and the fang it held safely entwined and which was more a part of him than any mortal creature could possibly have fathomed. The phosphorescent glow spread fully over the fang as she shifted her grip in her futile efforts, making it harder to hold on to firmly. His own eyes glittered back at her in amusement at her antics, one eye as blue as her own and the other a brilliant green.
The green sheen over his chest had a very strange texture beneath her hand like pressing against deep water that got deeper and heavier the harder she pushed against it and never quite let her touch his skin. Her mad rush towards the shore left a stream of bubbles and Malach's laughter rang out again as crystal clear beneath the water as it had been above. When she broke surface again and began slogging her way out through the shallower water Malach twisted around in her grip and though she was still holding the fang and sheath he was quite suddenly seated on her equine back with his arms around her human waist. “Hello” he purred, his lips close to her ear and his expression a thoroughly mischievous smile, “What's your name?”

He glowed? That baffled Nora even more as she jerked and pulled at his fang, feeling it become slippery she frowned this was odd most things stuck to her like glue. The slippery texture of the fang only further fascinated her so when she had been tugging him up on the shore intent on taking him towards one of the rocks to see if she could crack the chain that way. It surprised her to still be holding the fang and feel the weight of someone on her back. No one rode her. Her coat was soft as velvet and had a slight shimmering green tint. A quality that made one feel like they could not stop touching it as the odd adhesive effect kept them close to her. She stamped her hoofs, and side stepped trying to dislodge him.
"What? Get off!" She stomped her hoofs in a little dance trying to unsettle him. The fang forgotten slipped from her hands as they shifted to the ones about her waist and began to curl and twist her fingers onto his arms and try to pull them free. She kicked out with her back legs and did a little turn trying all she could think of to unseat him. This went on quite a bit as she finally realized she wasn't going to be able to unseat him and came to a still as a statue pose. Her chest heaved in hurried little breaths. She was resolved to see that she was stuck with him on her back Nora stood there staring at the water.
The minutes ticked by as she stood there racking her brain trying to think of a way to get away now. Her body shivered slightly "I'm Nora..." The glint of the tooth was seen from the corner of her eye as she huffed lightly and shot it a glare as if it was the reason she was in this mess in the first place. Not her inability to control her sticky little fingers. She became aware of his position on her back and the fact he was so close to her giving her a reality check. No one touched her save for the elementals, and they only did when she was young in order to take care of her.
"Now get off me!" her front left hoof pawed at the ground lightly as if she was a horse counting. Her tail swished up and smacked him beside the head with force. The long flowing tail deigned usually to keep bugs and other things from annoying her was now swishing in an angry flick smacking him first on one side then the other. As she started to walk towards the water. Maybe she could unseat him in there. Glancing up at the sky in hopes of seeing the time she might shift to her human form. The movements caused the fang to bump against her arm, and now she turned her upper human body slightly to look at him and to once more paw at the fang intent to use it to tug him off her back.
The fang seized one jerk and nothing he wasn't budging. A frustrated growl and a cute scowl formed on her face as she turned her head to look at him more. " Who are you? Better yet what are you?" There was no way he was a normal man. Her flawless skin was perfect the slight shimmer of her hair seemed like spun silk with its softness. In all the time, she had lived here and especially at this water fall, she had at no time gotten herself in this predicament. Then again, most things she stole were hidden in the cave behind the water fall and the ones, she took it from never knew it was missing until she was long gone. The guilt that seemed to grow in her stomach caused a slight flush to form on her cheeks.

Confusion was such a funny thing to Malach. It made people behave in the strangest and most amusing ways and the acquisitive kelpie was no exception to that generality. Her startled little outcry as she found him seated on her back was really quite lovely and he began to giggle uncontrollably as she skipped and danced about in her attempts to dislodge him. Her pretty little fingers tugged ineffectually at his arms. Malach was not unusually strong in a purely physical sense, not beyond what could be expected from the beautiful, athletic body he wore when corporeal, but he was plenty strong enough to keep a firm hold on her tiny waist, and even if he hadn't been he would have just cheated; this was just too much fun.
Malach purred with pleasure as he snuggled closer into her back. The touch of her skin against his tingled pleasantly and he wanted to stay pressed up against her. The warm scent of his body was rich and dark like Myrrh but his breath against her cheek was sweet as strawberries. “Nora?” That wasn't much of a name he thought for such an effervescent creature. Malach rarely used names for people, or rather he rarely used the ones they claimed. Almost never did the name have any meaning at all and he never remembered them anyway so he gave those he played with better names, ones that he found both suited and amusing. Remora, Butterfly, Magister; those were much better names. Something would come to him shortly he was certain.
“Are you sure?” Malach asked her in a seductive purr, “I am rather enjoying this, aren't you?” and he wriggled slightly where he was sat astride her, rubbing his bare skin against her velvety soft hide. He began laughing again as her tail lashed at his back. “That tickles...” he chuckled, wriggling against her all the more. When she made another grab for the fang he slipped one arm from her waist and closed his hand over hers, whispering softly into her ear. “That is not for you, Kitalpha. Something dangerous dwells within; something you should not wish to wake.” His almost serious mood did not last for more than a few seconds however and he kissed her cheek playfully.
When she turned to look properly at him at last Malach gave her a wickedly mischievous smile. “I was starting to think that you didn't care...” he giggled teasingly. “I am Malach.” The green glow had faded away and now she was looking at him so close up his subtle differences from human were becoming more obvious. His skin was not only soft and perfectly smooth, it was also completely hairless with not so much as a peach fuzz to it and the strange tattoos did not so much cover his skin as float just beneath it. “As for what I am; there are men and there are gods...” he purred to her as his smile broadened, “...and then there are djinn. How many guesses do you need, my Kitalpha?”

Nora realized the more she moved the tighter he held on. Finally, she wore herself out enough that she stood at the waters edge forgetting she was heading that direction to try to unseat him. As he said his name, her gaze shifted over him, His tattoos distracted her causing her to finally poke at it then lightly. " What do those do?" She was curious about him now. His position on her back becoming comfortable enough that she started to relax more and not be so tense. As he purred in pleasure and snuggled closer to her, she felt a build of heat in her core. She was warm nothing like one might think. As if she had been laying in the sun all day long. Her skin was tanned, and sun kissed soft to the touch with a bit of an electric zing when one first touched her.
She smelled like water lilies and various other exotic water plants that calmed the senses. The kiss to her cheek caused her to feel dazed. Her hand came up to brush the side of her cheek. "I yes? I mean no?" she wasn't sure if she really did want him off her back now seemingly distracted when he told her to leave the fang along, she frowned. " What danger dwells? Maybe I do want to wake it. " Her hand shifted again but his serious mood distracted her once more, and she looked back to him. Almost like she had ADD at times. "Kitalpha? What does that mean?" her head tilted now as he ignored her real name and went to calling her something else all together. She liked the way it sounded his voice pulled her in, and she sighed. "Oh I care. I need to know who the bane of my existence is. You know at least give the name to the barnacle that has become part of my back. So I would think that is a reason to care." Her grin formed as answered him.
He was interesting to see that he had no hair like most men. Her hand shifted to brush against his cheek as she finally started to touch him curiously. Occasionally poking here or there seeing how different he was. Half-listening to what he said until he said djinn. " You mean like a genie? " her head tilted then and she smiled wickedly. " So if I rubbed your lamp you'd have to give me three wishes or is this a completely different thing. What are the rules? " Suddenly buzzing with questions about him as if she found something even better than the fang, for the moment. " If I wished for something would you be able to give it to me? Oh no... no you guys are tricky, though there is always a price for magic of any kind. My Nana Wynd says that anyway." She spoke of the elemental that tended to her and kept care of her.
Her hooves shifted as she now started to walk with him while they talked. " Are there more of you?" She hadn't been outside of this place, and her innocence showed through. " Where did you come from? Have you always been here in the garden? If not what is it like? I want out of here so bad tell me what it's like. " He was a fascination to her like the new kid in school. She had to know all he knew and wanted to impress him but didn't even know how or where to begin.

“Do?” he giggled as she pressed her fingers against his bare skin, “Absolutely anything.” Malach was having a great deal of fun teasing the kelpie this way. He continued to chuckle at her surprise and confusion. She was funny and he liked that. She was interested in him too and that was doing wonders for salving his bruised ego. Malach wanted to be wanted. He was a vain creature and did not handle rejection well not understanding how it could possibly happen to him. Now he had his distraction he would forget that it had ever happened at all.
“Kitalpha... is the name that fits you.” he giggled again, “What it means to me and means to you; that is for you to discover for yourself. Names can be important; you can grow into them or grow out of them.” As she went on to call him a barnacle Malach gave one wide-eyed blink and then totally cracked up with near hysterical laughter. He was shaking so hard he could hardly speak. “Oh my Kitalpha... so innocent you are...” Clearly Malach had some curious and amusing opinions regarding barnacles but he did not elaborate further. He simply purred in delight as her hands began to flutter over his skin exploring its unique texture.
Malach gave a small snicker when she said 'genie'. “I am a djinni.” he announced proudly, the strange pronunciation and accent he gave to the word made it sound far more alien and exotic than genie did. Her obvious excitement and wonder at him had him preening happily; Malach did so love to be the centre of attention and now he had hers more fully he was basking in it. “I don't need a lamp, Kitalpha” he laughed, “but there are other things you can rub...” He grinned wickedly, fairly certain that his lewder jokes were going to go clear over her head and not minding that one bit. It would just give her more questions to ask and more answers to be confused by. Stupidity infuriated him but innocence was just... cute.
“Oh, rules are for other people,” he chuckled at her. “I don't have to do anything... but I could if I wanted to.” Malach could be quite exasperatingly arrogant when he was so inclined but this was just playfulness. “Words are important because words make wishes and wishes make everything... everything except Djinn; we aren't made by wishes, we are made of wishes.” The little kelpie was clearly taken with the idea of magic and he wanted her to continue to be so. “Your Nana Wynd sounds clever; you should listen to her and not accept wishes from strange Djinn you meet in the woods.” he laughed. His eyes sparkled with mischief then as a grin spread across his face. “Would you like three wishes, Kitalpha?”
She asked so many questions Malach found he could just pick and choose the more interesting ones to himself to provide answers to and skip over the ones he didn't care for. He didn't want her thinking about other Djinn, just him, so he ignored that question. Now he was back out in the world again Malach was intensely aware of just how few of his kind remained. There was definitely another free djinni in New Vegas somewhere though because he could sense the powerful magical drain that the presence of a djinni caused on their surroundings and that rendered them powerless as a mortal in one another's proximity. No-one needed to be told that.
“Come from? What a peculiar question...” he gave her a small puzzled look. “Djinn don't come from anywhere; we just are, we always have been and we always will be.” Given that he had only just entered the Sanctuary and not had time to grow tired of it yet, Malach had no interest in leaving it again so soon, especially now he had found a playmate. “It was boring outside.” he said, “You are far more interesting than the people out there. They are stupid and dull and no fun at all.” Malach pondered a moment and then whispered conspiratorially into her ear, “If you give me a kiss I shall grant you one wish with the promise that it will do you no harm.”

"They do absolutely anything?" She was now more curious as ever as she turned to trace her hands once more over his oddly gleaming tattoos. They entranced her and she cutely nibbled on her lower lip her fingers probing carefully but clearly almost like a cat trying to capture his tattoos now. "You are a curious creature, and you become curiouser and curiouser by the minute." As he mentioned Kitalpha was the name that fit her, she tilted her head. " I suppose I can accept that Nora probably isn't my real name anyway. " a shrug of her shoulders given. "Why won't you tell me what it means? " her hooves stepped into the water now as she started to absently proceed into the environment, she was use to. Her coat glinted and glimmered, he would feel the almost magnetic pull her skin put off as she made contact with the water adhering him to her body. " You are my Djinn now Malach." If she could not have his fang, she was taking the next-best thing. Him...
The tricky Kelpie started into the water now as she took him with her. Keeping him above the water she held on to him with the magic of her species. Swimming through the water. " Hold on to me; I want to show you something..." As he mentioned there were other things to rub she tilted her head sideways like a dog seeing something strange or hearing a high-pitched sound. " You do? Do you have more shiny things like that fang?!" The excitement and pleasure formed on her face as she didn't realize just what he was talking of. So sweet so innocent and yet deadly as a usual kelpie. " Oh, so no wishes for me?" A pout formed on her face now as she swam closer to the water fall.
"Interesting." They were not born they were just alive with wishes? She wondered what that was like. She had started to like him and was intent on keeping him so to say. So much so she was taking him to her special place. The waterfall rushed as she came close she started to sink slowly pausing only a moment to hear his last words. " A kiss? Very well a kiss is a small price to pay for a wish. " Her hands lifted to cup his face as her head tilted slightly, and she kissed him, But it was an innocent kiss her lips met his, and her breath exhaled giving him the gift of breath beneath water granted by her special charms. It would not last but long enough to take him where she was going. Swimming to a large cavernous opening behind the waterfall. Once beneath and through the water fall, she entered the cave and surfaced.
Inside it was large like a bedroom clearly it was what she used as her home. The walls were beautiful they glittered with the jewels of amethyst geodes everywhere. Some even in citrine. There were small openings up at the top that allowed natural light to dance off the stones and light the room with the muted glow of the gems. Shelves were created and there were things she had stolen from people lost within the gardens to just various items. Special knives or watches. Jewelry all kinds of glittering gems and then there was him. She took his hand and smiled as the magic released him as she offered him down. " The afternoon changes... soon so will I." letting the mystery of her dance about him on those words alone. Still she had not spoken a wish.

Malach continued to laugh musically each time she brushed her hands over the glimmering markings that adorned his skin. He adored to be touched and her delicate little hands were soft and gentle as the stroke of a feather. “Kitalpha means Kitalpha. One word says many things at the same time. Definitions are not meaning. Meaning comes from understanding, understanding comes from the seeking of meaning. Only when you can tell me what it means will you understand its meaning.” Malach did not normally bother to explain himself or his thoughts, but the kelpie was so naïve he wanted her to understand this thing, he wanted the name to be a gift.
It put a cold shiver down his spine when she called him her Djinn. Had the words that were the curse of his kind not fallen so innocently from her lips the green fire that lit his eyes would not have been so contained. As it was his laughter faded. “I am no mortal's Djinn!” he hissed softly, unable to entirely contain the emotions that ancient injustice provoked in him. But she did not know, she was innocent. He brushed his hand through her hair again, worried that he might have frightened her when the ancient anger of his kind stirred in him. “You may call me your Malach,” he murmured gently to her, “...for that I am right now.”
There was a magic to the touch of her equine hide as she sank again into her natural element, the water. Malach could sense such small magics given that such natural energies were food and drink and air to his kind, and he liked the way it tingled against his skin. He was becoming more than a little excited as he sat astride the kelpie's back but though he was enjoying the playful teasing he felt no great desire to press any more physical need on her. Such was the power of innocence. He held her waist firmly as she asked, laughing again at her question. “You did not meet me in the woods...” he chuckled and winked his emerald eye at her.
Malach giggled at her. “Oh no Kitalpha, the wish is a gift... the kiss is for the promise...” He could taste the small magic on her breath like the sharp tang of brine on the sea breeze and he could not resist but to touch the tip of his tongue to her lips as she kissed him, the better to taste it. He giggled again sending up a trail of bubbles as she submerged the two of them again and swam quickly to her secret grotto. His delighted laughter rang out again as he saw the wondrous crystalline formations of the cavern, echoing like a chorus around it. “Oh my Kitalpha,” he giggled, “...see how your name is written in the earth as well as the sky.”
Taking her hand, Malach's body began to dissolve into a golden mist, starting at his toes and as it reached his waist he drifted from her back before reforming in front of her. She had made him curious now. Changes? Malach was however far too proud to ever ask for an explanation. If he needed to know he would find out but right now it was clear that it was some secret thing she wished to show him in her own time. He turned around admiring her home, and his eyes sparkled as they picked out one small treasure after another. He was liking this little creature more and more with every passing moment.
“As you have brought me to your home I must offer you a guest gift,” he smiled, “that is still the custom is it not?” He made a flourishing bow, swirling an imaginary cloak and doffing an equally imaginary hat to her. It was a performance that left one wondering if he were in fact fully dressed and his clothing merely invisible. When he straightened up he presented her with a single glittering rose with petals of ruby and leaves of emerald, perfect in every detail down to the tiny diamond dewdrops that clung to it. “For your garden.” he grinned.

Nora was indeed innocent she had not realized the tone in which her words had set off the Djinn and so when the malice had flashed in Malach's eyes she had for a moment felt a hint of fear and almost shied away from him. Only to be pulled back into him as he brushed his hands through her hair to the point if she were a cat she would have purred. " My Malach... You are right I like that term better. My Malach," For he was indeed that her new treasure a new toy something shiney and intriguing that had her attention worse than a cat with a laser pointer. As she had kissed him, she felt the tip of his tongue on her lips, and she had been shocked that was not a kiss, she was use too , but with the cool rush of the water over her hide and the quick ascent into the cavern it had danced through her mind of curiosities and certainly not forgotten. Her eyes watched him as she waited to see how he would enjoy her secret space. Hands clasped before her when he had slipped down and reformed himself on the ground. Watching him was a pleasure. " I will keep my wish for now My Malach. I will use it for something special. " Nodding then as she watched his flourish performance and the sudden presentation of the glittering rose. A squeal of delight came from her as her hoofs did a little dance in tune to the clap of her hands in excitement. " Oh my! for me? I love it." Her hands quickly took the rose offered to her, and she started to walk towards once of the numerous shelves to place the gift upon it. As she did so she reached up and plucked one of the beautiful geodes from the shelves as well and walked back to him. " Here I want you to have this too." She smiled as she offered the beautiful cluster of amethyst gems to him. Her head tilted as she waited for him to take the item. Feeling the afternoon shifting further into the day she felt the usual twitch and itch that started over her skin. Her cheeks started to blush, and she took his hands placing the item in them before she turned and disappeared around a gem encrusted corner of the cavern room. Pain rippled over her body as she felt her body transform and slowly the shift of four legs began to compact and transform into two perfect human legs. Making her tall and leggy. She bit her lip praying he would not follower her as she waited for this moment to be over. " Just...I just need a minute." The words were spoken with a hint of pain but something she hid well. As the pain subsided over the few minutes of her transformation to her human form. She smiled finally and shifted up from the ground where she had eventually ended up. Her toes wiggled, and a smile formed on her face as she grabbed the wrap skirt that matched her top and moved back out from behind the gem encrusted wall waiting now to hear what Malachi might think of the special gift she gave him. She loved that particular set of stones but wanted him to have the gift she was bestowing upon him from her special collection as well.

Malach smiled at the kelpie's delight. “Have a care how long you wait my Kitalpha; wishes can curdle like milk in the sun.” The djinni was not in the habit of leaving obligations hanging. He had promised her a harmless wish and she would have it, but she would have it within the next week or his nature would rebel. Innocent she might be but he most certainly was not and though the Djinn were not inherently wicked creatures they were thoughtless. Malach was old, older than sin as the saying went and if anything the passage of time had only made him more petty and temperamental.
Malach accepted her gift with a beaming smile, turning it over and over in his hands, examining every tiny flaw and imperfection. The world was his diamond and imperfections were what gave it value to him. He was focused sufficiently on the facets of the gift that he paid her no heed as she slipped further away. What he could not however fail to notice was the ripple of magic that swept through the sanctuary park. He was a djinni and as such sensitive to such things. Two hours until the sun set and the sanctuary would be coming alive with those eagerly awaiting the transformation and those fleeing to hide from it.
Malach licked his tongue over his lips as if tasting the flavour of the magical breeze blowing through the cave. Transformation magic... his curiosity was engaged.

Nora moved around from behind the wall she had disappeared. Her fingers nimbly tying the wrap skirt about her form. Her toes habitually wiggled from time to time as she loved this part of her form the most and was thankful that the ability had been given to her to do. Walking towards a Malach, she smiled. "So what you're telling me is there is a time limit on wishes. As if they curdle in the sun-like milk? Interesting how is that possible it is not a physical thing or living that can be broken or rot away. " She questioned him now the validities of his words were always about semantics with her.
Those big blue eyes glinted watching him curiously now taking no heed to the fact that she was now on two legs instead of four. Walking she stumbled only slightly once as her balance was equating out after all four legs were not as nice as two. At least in Nora's thoughts she had always secretly hoped that she would get stuck on her bi pedal form instead of forever stuck with her hooves. Now that she could move easily and more carefully she picked up the flower he had given her and began to preen the jewel petals with her fingers. Soft cooing sounds of pleasure coming from her while she waited for the answer to her numerous babbling thoughts and the question she had placed to him.
Even though she knew there was a chance to upset him that she didn't want to use her wish secretly she wanted to find a way to hold on to his company for a little while longer. Slowly, she circled him now while she watched him, He was a curious creature taking in his form her hand reached out quickly to trace his tattoos with the tips of her fingers once more watching the way they shimmered and seemed to be alive. "Sooo? " finally her impatience for perhaps his answer came through as she prodded him once more waiting to be answered.

Malach giggled as he saw her reappear and his tongue flicked over his lips once more as if tasting the air that surrounded her. It was impossible to say what he was thinking behind his jewel like eyes but his smile was playful and demeanour one of pleasant delight. “Silly, silly Kitalpha!” Malach laughed musically at her puzzled question and did an impossibly graceful pirouette as she circled around him. “Did I not already tell you that the Djinn are wishes?”
Malach took hold of her hand when she touched him and began to guide her fingertips across his skin. It was soft and silken smooth and still warm and dry despite immersion in the cool water of the lake and the subsequent dampness of the hidden grotto. The patterns shifted at her touch like dancing smoke. “Do I not feel real to you?” he purred at her, his eyes flashing with mischief. “Am I not alive?” He lifted her hand up in front of his face and breathed his soft, sweet breath onto her palm. “How can you then say that a wish is not a very real and living thing?”
Malach was now stood very close to the kelpie. Close enough for her to feel the warmth that radiated from his naked body and to breathe in the scent that seemed to cling to him. “One thing may take many forms Kitalpha. The milk is still milk and a wish is forever a wish yet time may change a thing to a form less pleasing. Time is a Curse” he purred hypnotically, “...and a curse can be broken.” He placed a strawberry sweet kiss on the palm of her hand. “Would you like to help me break it my Kitalpha?”

She laughed. " I know you told me that they are wishes, but I can't help wondering now that you are a spoiled wish that has gone bad and thus when I use my wish it will be spoiled too. Unless..." her voice trailed off as she looked up from the jeweled flower he had given her, and she simply stared at him for a good long moment in thought after he had captured her hand and guided it along his flesh. Goose bumps formed on her arm as she felt the soft almost to perfect perfection of his skin. The tone of his voice and that flash of mischief in his eyes pulled her along on that dance.
"Well yes, I... you... you do feel alive. I mean you are alive. " He was an intriguing creature and being he was something completely new and different to the kelpie had her hooked on him like a new drug. "I'm sorry Malach, I did not want to hurt your feelings or make you feel as if I even thought you were not living or real it's just rules... I don't like rules." Shaking her head she pulled herself back from the thoughts and questions his words formed in her mind. She still held her ground in the close proximity of the Djinn, but she actually wondered for a moment if she might have gotten herself in over her head.
"I see what your saying. " Like a snake, he had her hypnotized for the moment, and innocently Nora felt the need to help him as he placed that dainty sweet kiss on her palm sending a warm rush of pleasure over her skin. " I would like to help you Malach. Will it save you? Is this an epic journey or quest? " Yes, Nora knew a little of adventures and fairy tales her adoptive parents had read to her from old books with brittle pages things that long ago would have disappeared and were coveted by others now in this age. Treasures that were worth more than gold. Clapping her hands excitedly she bounced up and down on her tip toes. " Oh an adventure would be lovely. I would love to see something beyond the wall of the garden." Her hand traced the tips of her fingers over his palm as the jeweled flower was forgotten, and her full attention was placed on Malach. " I wish to help you break that curse. " Her wish was nothing to harm anyone or anything for herself; it was a wish of care. One of an innocent heart and mind that longed to help another.

“A spoiled wish is no longer a Djinn!” Malach smiled smugly. He pulled a comically disgusted face when she spoke of rules; his sentiments were clearly aligned with hers on that matter. “Djinn do not make rules, we prefer to break them.” he said in a voice of such authority and certainty it was actually possible to believe that he was capable of making that statement on behalf of his entire species.
There was always something at least vaguely snake-like about Malach; the way the movements of his body were sinuous and boneless, the flickering of his tongue as he tasted the magic in the air and the sibilant hiss he made when he was particularly excited or angry, were all reminiscent of such serpentine creatures. All Djinn had an affinity for reptiles and Malach's was most particular for snakes.
Malach grinned happily as the little kelpie babbled excitedly about quests and adventures. She was so sweet and naïve, it would be a pleasure to keep her with him a while; perhaps she could even be of some help should the time come... “It would be the greatest adventure of all, my Kitalpha; the adventure to end all adventures.” he purred. Words had so many meanings; Malach could mix ugly truths and beautiful lies and have you swear each was the other.
“Beyond the wall?” his words tailed off as the kelpie made her wish and his face contorted in rage. “No! No! NO!” he roared. “You cannot wish for that!” his body was dissolving and the mist swirled angry around him, green and gold, like liquid fire. “Stupid! Stupid!” he raved at her; Malach was in a furious rage. Not only had he promised her no harm from her wish but if wishes could help the Djinn do what was needed they would have been long ago unbound.
