Bruce looked out over the darkening city, his eyes keen to any disturbances. He watches as the people coming and going looked like ants. They daytime dwellers were thinning out and were quickly replaced by the creatures of the night. He knew the VSF did their best to protect the humans from the outside world but there were dangers on the inside of the city that they seemed to overlook. That’s why Bruce took it into his own hands.
Bruce crouched low in the broken out picture window with tattered curtains blowing around him on the top floor of the abandoned skyscraper that used to be the Sky Tower. No one could get up there, or no one that could wanted to so he had the whole floor to himself in the penthouse suite. There was no heat and no electricity, but it had security and it was home. He had managed to scavenge a bed and linens, come clothing, a few dishes and a pillow for his head. It was all he needed. He slept in the daytime, just like the creatures of the night so he would be awake and ready to defend the helpless.
It wasn’t long before he spotted something. In an alley, a woman was grabbed and pushed against a wall. It was time for Bruce to make his move. He dove from the window, only to grab a wire and glide several meters before jumping again. He landed feet first on a pipe and ran across it . As he reached another building he grabbed the rain gutter and rode it to the ground. Bruce was in his element, he was a hero and he had been waiting all day for this…

Briella was worried about Silas, he had been getting weirder and weirder as of late. So much so that when she took him into the precinct today for his shot, she had requested that he stay behind for observation. It worried her that she may be seen as at fault if he was actually going out of his mind. Deciding she needed to clear her head after the past few weeks she wasn't sure that having a techa was good. Maybe she just wasn't fit for it? Looking for something to do to clear her head, she took a patrol shift and headed out for the night.
Walking down the street she had noticed as the night crowd started to change, The sound of slot machines and businesses coming to life with the nights approach. Her fingers hooked in the band of her belt as she walked listening and keeping her eyes open for anyone who was causing trouble or stepping out of line. It had only been a few weeks since she had come here, but already she had noticed that the reinforcements had definitely been needed, and here she felt a lot better about her work. Even she started to forget about her sire and his recent suicide.
In the distance, she thought she heard the muffled shriek of a woman in the alley. Her eyes half closed as she focused her hearing, There it was again that sound. Her pace quickened then as she sprinted off towards the alley and direction in which she had heard the sound. She prayed she wouldn't be too late to save the innocent human, and that she could catch whoever it was. It felt good to shed off her thoughts of all the things of recent moments and to slide back into the reality of the situation.
As she ran beneath a pipe crossing over an alley, her gaze traveled up to the sound of feet hitting it. She blinked for a second seeing a man run across and head in the direction of the same sound she was approaching. She wasn't sure if he was Techa or another vampire, but his appearance had distracted her enough that she had slowed, and now she cursed herself for it. Hurrying off around the build he was now crossing and had subsequently disappeared across. Damn don't let her have screwed this up already. Who was he?

Bruce heard the woman scream again and picked up his pace. He never noticed the woman running below him. It was only a second or two later that he reached the woman being forced against the wall. It was him again...His long steel blade caught the light of the moon and flashed brightly as it was brought up. The woman threw up her hands and screamed. "Stop!" he shouted to break his concentration.
The assailant that Bruce had seen before looked up with vicious malicious intent in his eyes and hissed. For a moment Bruce thought he saw the crimson tattoo that demons had on their upper foreheads but it quickly faded as the look on his face transformed to one of 'Oh shit!' and fear. The man quickly sliced the woman's arm and ran. Bruce would have followed but he saw the woman was injured. Without thinking he tore off his hoodie, the only thing he had found to wear and wrapped it around her arm as she sobbed thank yous at him. "It's OK I got ya." he assured her in a soothing tone.
He looked up when he heard feet buzzing across the ground. He turned back to the woman, "You'll be alright." he said then looked at the arriving Vampire, "She needs medical attention." his bear chest heaved, sucking in air as he fought the pain of his body rejecting the nanobots inside him. He turned and sprinted in the direction the attacker had run. "I'm going to catch you Jack! One day! You're ass is mine!"

Briella was running to keep up and heard the second shriek the pleads from the woman as she came into the alley and saw the fading silhouette of the man that had been stopped in his attack on the woman. The scent of blood traveled over the air to her as she noticed the manhood. " Who are you?" She rushed up to help seeing that he was not attacking the woman but trying to help her. " Shh it's ok I'm calling for help and back up. " She had barely had time to step up and place her hand on the womans arm with the hoodie that was helping to staunch the bleeding. Her gaze turned then looking at Bruce. " Hey! WAIT!" She didn't want him running off without help, especially since it looked as if he was in some sort of pain. Not even sure that he was alright himself.
Briella looked at the woman then at the shadows that the man had sprinted into the shadows. "Shit..." Pulling her radio she called in for help and back up. " This is Detective Valcorne. I Have an injured woman. In the alley behind the liquor store. I'm bringing her out. " She moved her towards the well-lit streets though her gaze shifted back. As she waited for the sound of the emergency back up and help for the woman. Reaching into her pocket where she kept a few bandages and medical supplies she kept on her to take care of injuries that might be caused to her techa. Briella Took the hoodie and quickly replaced it with the absorbing bandages and helped to add better pressure. Once another officer arrived, she nodded to him. Her fingers closed on the hoodie as another vehicle arrived. Seeing Silas emerge from the vehicle, she was actually glad to see him for once. Instead of frustrated, worried and disappointed.
"Silas!" Calling him over, she smiled when he got that puppy look on his face and hurried to her side. "I'm here Briella I came soon as I was released." Smiling she turned to him and offered the hoodie to him. " Focus I need the scent of the man on this not the woman's" Her gaze shifted to the alley. " I need you to find him please. " She didn't mention why or who he was, but she nodded leaving the woman in the other officers care. Hearing Silas's familiar tick of the drool and wipe of his mouth when he had picked up the scent of the man, she turned seeing him hurry off into the dark. Briella hurried to follow behind him letting him set the pace as they went in search of the man. She gripped his hoodie in her hand, as she followed her techa partner into the darkened alleys and the twisting turning ways. She didn't have a scent for the attacker on the woman, but she hoped that in finding the mysterious hero of the woman that she might beable to find out more about this man, he was hunting and just who he was.
"Please...let me find him. "

((LOL cheater))
Bruce didn't know much but he knew he didn't want to get caught. He abandoned the chase with Jack since he lost him anyway and the time it would take to find his trail again would get him captured himself. It would have been different if the vampire was chasing him and trying to keep up, he could lose her easily enough but this other guy was impossible to shake. Every time he thought he lost him, that guy would show up, drooling like a rabid dog.
Had Bruce been capable of showing fear, this guy would have scared the hell out of him. By the time they entered the undercity, he was wondering if he was ever going to lose this guy. "Why you chasing me?" he shouted back at them, "I was only helping!" he focused on running again and sprinted to the nearest fire escape. He climbed without boldly to the top of the old abandoned casino and ran across the edge as if he were on solid ground. His lack of fear allowed him to not worry about falling and he ran with pure confidence.
He could only see one way to lose this guy. There was no way he was going to be running across taught wires or jumping from building to building so Bruce bolted for the far edge of the building. He thought he heard someone shouting fear-filled words toward him but he continued. Running full speed, he hit the edge and leaped through the air towards the edge of the building across from it. He caught the edge of the building with his hands and clung to it with his feet dangling. He turned his head to look just as the man jumped after him, cutting it way too short and fell 12 stories to the ground, dead. "Oh my god!" Bruce exclaimed. He never meant for that to happen. The guy didn't have to jump! "He didn't have to jump!" he called out to the vampire looking down at the man.
Just then the edge he was clinging to crumbled. He grabbed for the nearest wire just as it gave way. The wire pulled out of the wall and Bruce fell. He thought he would meet the same fate as the other man but the wire suddenly pulled tight and he began to swing downward. One of the mutant market tents was just below him and he let go of the wire. Down he fell into the top of the tent. He rolled off and fled into the crowd.

((Lol You inspired me mister leaves the hoodie )) Briella had followed the trail close on Silas's heels it had been a twisting turning course that surely if she had followed on foot by herself; she would have been lost eventually, and the guy would have gotten away. She slipped through the alley. " Silas wait slow down just pace him. Stop! I think you're scaring him. " Briella had wanted to talk, he seemed to have known who the attacker was, but Silas was relentless when on the hunt. He seemed almost obsessed now, and she started to wonder if having him do his job he had been designed for was wrong. As they entered the undercity part of town, she frowned, she hadn't wanted to go this far. " Stop Please I just want to talk!" yelling back but unsure if he had heard her over his own voice and labored breathing. He was scared, and she knew it now. As they neared the fire escape, Silas was up and going after him. She cleared up the wall herself but paused. DAMN IT! She hated heights and she hated now that she was going to be forced to do this. Her hand shook a little, which slowed her down more as she took the rungs one at a time and followed up after Silas. "Please no don't! DON'T JUMP! " Briella saw the direction, and the intent that he was going to do what she feared the most. " SILAS STOP!" However, like always once the hound was on a scent he didn't stop until he was dead, or he got his man. It was a nightmare scene out of a movie. Briella sprinted to the edge just as Silas was about to jump her hand out stretched to seize him only she felt the faint brush of fabric to her fingers as she missed him by mere seconds. " NO!" She looked down at her techa his life gone as she looked up to the guy clinging to the building. " I'll help you just hold on." The offer to help falling on the horror of the next moment, as well as she watched the building crumble. " OH MY GOD NO!" Seeing the falling man she thought surely he was going to meet the same fate until she saw the wire pull taunt and watched as he let go of the wire and fell to the top of the tent she was breathing in relief seeing that the man had gotten down alright and hadn't died but then her gaze fell on Silas her hand fisted, and she stopped herself before she slammed it into the wall. " Damn it! I told you to stop..." as she moved back to the fire escape to make her way down and to Silas's body, she closed her eyes. A single tear trailed down her cheek for she could feel the loss of the techa that was her's. How was she going to explain this? Silas was so hard to control and now this. As she reached the ground and hurried to Silas's body she called in. " This is Detective Valcorne. My Techa is down ... I need ... I need help. I'm in the Undercity." Clicking off her Radio she knelt and brushed away his hair. Inside she felt a part of her gone hadn't realized that she actually had cared what happened to the techa her partner. "I'm so sorry." As she closed his eyes and looked at the crowd of people, the man and his trail now gone.

As Bruce blended into the crowd he slowed his pace, "This is not good, not good at all." he muttered, he knew she would recognize him if she saw him again. He had to come up with something. He snatched what looked like a jacket from a stolen merchandise stand and ran with it. No one chased him. Soon he stopped and unfolded it. It was a cape, not a jacket. Even better, it had a hood so it hid his face. He would have to go back the way he came to get back home. That would take him past the VSF who were now flooding the alley where the poor Techa fell.
Bruce felt bad that the Tech had died. If he had just jumped farther, he would have made it. But then, Bruce noticed he jumped farther than most. Probably because he didn't understand the concept of fear. He had no fear when it came to heights or daredevil type activities. He could run along building edges and over high wires. It didn't bother him in the slightest. While he was not afraid of getting caught, he just didn't want to get caught. He had his freedom and he was going to keep it, even if they could find a way to take away his pain.
Bruce was curious about the vampire. Why had she chased him? He hadn't broken any laws. He was helping someone. He wondered if she was a hardass who lived for her career and could find a reason to bust anyone. He looped back around and climbed the building on the other side of the alley, on the front face so no one would see him. He crept along the top until he came to the other side and looked down. The hood would obscure his face and the black color would make him difficult to see. He watched the VSF officers for a moment. The Techa was indeed dead. He closed his eyes and sighed. "I'm sorry." he muttered then turned and ran. He leaped from rooftop to rooftop until he reached the wire that lead to his building. He ran across it and climbed the balconies until he reached the top of the old Sky Tower.
Once at his own balcony, he crouched on the edge and watched the world below him. A few times he thought he saw movement but when he looked it was gone. His mind must be playing tricks on him... suddenly he was gripped with the intense pain that came with the rejection of the nano's and the nano's themselves trying to heal their own damage. He slipped off the edge onto the balcony floor, wrapping his arms around himself and curling into a fetal position. He hoped it didn't last as long this time as he broke into a sweat and trembled violently from the pain. "Why did they do this to me?" he whimpered.

As the backup arrived as well as the paramedics, Briella was pushed back while they tried to conserve what wasn't there in Silas. " He's dead..." she said with a saddened tone now. Her gaze going from the lifeless form of her techa to the crowd now gathered and the shadows. Mathias was going to be disappointed, but she kept having the eerie feeling she was being watched. All she wanted to do was talk to the man. Maybe even given him some help in chasing the killer after all she hadn't seen what he looked like, and the man had called his name as well as seen what he looked like. As the paramedic talked to her telling her where to come to collect her partners personal affects, she nodded still watching the shadows. Hoping to see a glimpse of the man in the crowd but there was nothing.
The other officers were to lost in the clean up and containment of the scene to not hear the low mutter of words that came. She thought she heard the 'I'm sorry' she turned lightly in time to see the faint shape and dark outline of someone running across the rooftops. Her brilliant blue eyes glittered. 'Found you' She thought as she wasn't sure, but she had a hunch that this was the man she had been following. Moving towards the other officer she left them with instructions to ride along with her techa she was going to follow a lead, she just got making sure to cover her techa as she should with someone responsible before she headed off into the dark. Keeping up with him on ground was hard, but she didn't or rather hadn't wanted to set him off to her following him this time. He was tricky.
Following him in the zig zag of a way back through the streets she kept up easily enough before soon she had no choice but to go up. Though she hated heights and much like before she wanted to linger. She realized that her lingering had also possible aided in her Techa's death this time, she followed up mentally cursing the man for being such a limber and agile creature. As he settled on a balcony, Briella had to climb more stealthily so that he couldn't see her. Clinging to the shadows she paused and held as still as death blending into her surroundings with the aid of her gear. Once he looked away again she moved closer so close now. Just as she reached the balcony, she saw him seize up in pain.
Tilting her head, she moved more quickly now and reached him shortly after he hit the balcony floor. Like a cat, she dropped from the shadows and slowly approached him unsure if he was for real or just acting waiting for her to get close. Slowly, she knelt keeping one hand free for her knife should she need it. Just then hearing him whisper words of a question. Tilting her head curiosity showed in her features as well as something else he touched on her impulses of protection. Hesitantly, her hand reached out to touch his forehead. " Who? Who did this to you?" her face showed concern now as she felt his flesh, and he was burning up.
It was then she smelled the all too familiar technology she knew to be a techa. Her brows shot up, and she looked at him like he was the greatest surprise." You're...A techa?!" Quickly, she started to understand what his body was doing, but usually they were put down weren't they? Where was his vampire bonded partner? She could smell no other scent on him or anyone, and it worried her. He was a techa they were important to the VSF and vampires if she let whatever was ailing him kill him; she knew that she could get in even more trouble. Looking around for anything or anyone who might be there to claim him, she found nothing.
Finally, she looked back to him; she knew what she had to do but the problem in doing it, she was worried how it would turn out. With no other choice, she eased down on the ground and lifted him easily enough with her strength. Pulling him into her lap so that he was close, and she could support his head she spoke. " I'm sorry you're hurt, and I'm sorry that I scared you. I only want to help... " with that she used her knife and sliced her wrist deeply. Dropping the knife, she shifted him in her arms cradling his head up as she placed the wrist to his lips.
"Drink please. It will help to ease your pain." Her blood dampened his lips as she used her hand to part them a little to allow for her blood to pass between them. The taste of her blood was thick and rich, sweet as it slipped into his mouth from her movements. " Drink please. " She only hoped he would ingest some. She closed her eyes and whispered softly. "Come on..." she would not pray it wasn't something in her, but she did at least silently will him to start to drink. Hoping she wasn't to late to help him. Her deep crimson hued locks fell around her features now as the lights of the city played on her fair skin. While she finally opened her eyes and waited to see what would happen. Uncertain if he would fight her or take her help.

Bruce was not afraid, as a matter of fact, he didn't even know what fear was. He had not felt fear ever, in his entire life, even if all he could remember of his life was the last two months. He had often wondered if his lack of fear was what had kept him alive all this time. While he did not like the pain, he was not afraid of it. He sometimes wondered if he was going to die, but that didn't even scare him.
Bruce was surprised to see the vampire appear but the pain in his head was too intense for him to contemplate escape. It wasn't that he was afraid of getting caught, it was that he didn't want to be caught and have more needles shoved into him. "Vampires..." he whimpered, "In the lab..." He was in no condition to fight her as she pulled his head into her lap. "Put...THINGS in me." he continued and looked up at her. She must know these things; she was one of them. She had a Techa...well, not anymore but she HAD a Techa so she knew what it was about.
Another wave of pain shot through his head and he groaned, "It hurts." he complained and pressed his hand to his forehead, pressing hard. The next thing he knew, she had her wrist sliced and was trying to get him to drink her blood. He had V before, and he knew from his senses that it was Vampire blood. It had actually helped ease his symptoms the one time he was able to get it. His tongue licked out at the stuff on his lips as if testing it. Almost immediately the pain eased in his head. His eyes turned up at her and he took her arm and pressed the cut to his mouth and took in a mouthful then swallowed.
Almost immediately he could feel the healing of the damage in his head that the nanos were doing, it wasn’t that they were killing him, it was that they were malfunctioning due to his body rejecting them. They were only trying to heal the damage that his body caused while trying to eject them. The constant conflict was quite painful at times. Other times he was pain free.
As the pain began to fade his strength was returning. He didn’t like that she was in his home. She knew where he was, she would tell them. For now she didn’t know who he was or why he had Techa nanos in his system. “I haven’t broken any laws.” He said softly, hoping to talk her out of trying to take him. “You…you can’t take me back…they said I was dying, they said I had two days, It’s been two months. I’m not dead…just let me go.” Then his voice raised slightly, “I haven’t done anything wrong, I don’t even know who I am…”

Vampires did this to him? She knew Techa's were made but to have one out in the proverbial wild this was a bafflement to her. As he drank from her finally she relaxed and held him close her lips parted a soft sigh escaped her the pull of her blood from her wrist was oddly transfixing she felt as if she should protect him. A secret that should be kept from the force. If she took him back they would only experiment on him more probably and though part of her knew there was a duty to the VSF greedily Briella felt she should protect him keep him for herself. Once he started to take the healthy pulls from her wrist, and she was sure he had enough in him for the short time. She pulled her wrist from him carefully. Lifting it to her lips, she licked the wound and sealed it shut.
Her gaze on him as she studied him fingers brushing through his hair she spoke. " Shhh. Relax." Clearly looking him over making sure he was alright she spoke. " I won't... I won't take you back, and I won't tell anyone about you. " She felt guilty that he seemed worried those were her intentions. " I just wanted to talk to you; It's all I wanted from before as well. " Her eyes saddened a little as she thought back to the death of Silas. After all he was her techa but now she saw someone else that needed her help. "I just wanted to help you." Her fingers brushed through his hair tenderly it was odd feeling like someone actually needed her help, she hadn't felt this way in a long time. "You are different I know you are a techa I can smell it on you, in your blood, but you're not bonded to anyone and your not in the VSF. How did you get here?"
When he mentioned they said he was dying and had two days her brows shot up in surprise. " Two months? You have lived like this for two months?" For Briella to be the strong usually very work minded individual something about this man pulled her towards a more comforting and caring side. Her fingers had absently been stroking through his dark hair in a soothing gesture while she listened to him talk more adamantly and convincingly to get her to let him go. " I am sorry I upset you. " She started to shift then and release him showing that she had no intention of forcing him into anything. She sat there though for a moment only watching him. He was a curiosity watching him clearly functioning without the injections or any of the other thing's techas needed.

Bruce didn't quite understand he question, not with he distracting him by brushing her fingers through his hair. As much as he liked it, he didn't understand it and he didn't want her to keep doing it because it was making him feel funny about wanting to do it back. "I, I don't need help, Miss." he informed her, "I climbed up here, it's my home." he knew what a Techa was because he saw them every day, and thats what the doctors were trying to turn him into .
"The injection failed. I have those things in me but my body fights them. That shot, the one they said would help, just makes my nose bleed more because my body rejects that too." he informed her as he moved away from her and folded his own arms around himself. "I don't belong to anyone, they were going to let me die and throw me out with the trash." he pulled his knees up tight, "When I realized I wasn't going to die, I was just going to stay sick, I knew they would kill me, so I ran." he said and looked up at the sky then back at her. "For the record, I wasn't afraid. They told me the reason I was chosen to be a Techa was my inability to feel fear." He felt cold now with the night air blowing on his sweat moistened body. He began to shiver slightly but didn't move. "Why did you want to talk to me so badly, I would have caught Jack if you had not sicced your hound on me, and the dumb fool would still be alive." he asked her in a hurt voice then out of the blue, without a lick of fear he asked, "You're not going to eat me are you?"

Briella watched Bruce as he spoke. She hadn't realized she had kept brushing his hair back with her fingers until her moved. Her hand started to follow she had found a languid sort of ease with him, but she caught her movement and actions and stopped them. Pulling her hand back to her, she let him go not wanting to scare him anymore. " You did need my help, or you would have been sicker longer." She slowly shifted and relaxed her back against the wall while they talked, she watched him. " Here? You live here?" she looked around frowning a little seeing he didn't have some of the nice amenities that he would have been afforded if taken care of. Though he seemed fine, she wasn't going to force him to leave what he thought of his home.
"Your definitely different, special but I can already see the effects of my blood helping advance your healing. You need help just not what the others want to give you. " She rubbed her hands over her thighs fighting the instinct to move closer to him. "I would have hated to know you were dead. You are definitely intriguing. " When he asked her why she wanted to talk to him so badly Briella had already stood up and moved to grab a blanket she had seen just inside his place. Coming back out she knelt beside him and wrapped it about him. Her fingers trailing the length of his jaw while she sighed thinking best how to answer his question. " I didn't sick my hound on you. I asked him to find you; I didn't know he was going to be so crazy in doing it. He was my techa but he was hard to control and keep grounded. His death isn't your fault it's mine. I should have paid closer attention or just let you go. However, I heard you call out that killers name. 'Jack' I wanted to know what you knew about him, that was all maybe even work together to catch him. "
As he asked her out of the blue if she was going to eat him, she looked at him taken back. A frown formed, and she shook her head. Finally, she laughed lightly. "If I was going to 'eat' you. I would have done so by now don't you think? Not to mention why would I help to heal you and give you my blood? I should probably be worried if you're going to eat me. Are you going to eat me?" arching her brow as she leaned beside him for a moment. Her head tilted back looking up at the sky unable to remember how long it had been since she had a conversation with someone who seemed so innocent. " My names Briella... What is yours?" Offering her hand then in a form of greeting waiting to see if he would take it and allow her the chance to know his name.

Bruce listened to the woman and watched her when she got up. He could run any time if she looked like she might be a threat. It wasn't that he was afraid of her, it was self preservation. "Yes, I live here, no one else can get up here, unless they can fly or are a vampire. It's too high for them to climb and most people are afraid of heights. I'm a freak because I have no fear. I don't know why." he answered her fist question.
He watched the woman as she stood up and as any man would, he noticed how her uniform hugged her feminine form. He wouldn't know what to do with it if presented with the chance to quench manly desires, which stirred within him for some reason when she wrapped the blanket around him. She may have even seen it in his eyes as he was too innocent to hide such a thing. "Different, yes, as I said, I am a freak but I do good things with it."
He pulled the blanket tied around him and said, "Thank you." before averting his eyes. "Jack is the serial killer you people have been looking for. It wasn't hard to find him, not if you look down from above and listen." he informed her. "That detective is getting close but Jack will stay one step ahead of you. It is as if he has warning before anyone can get close. But he knows I am watching for him, one would think he would be concerned about that but he seems to take it as a gleeful challenge, he enjoys the chase." he stated informatively. That was all he knew about Jack but he learned more each time he encountered him.
When she asked if he was going to eat her, he gave her a puzzled look, "I think I already did." he murmured and licked his lips at the memory of her sweet blood tricking into his mouth and flowing over his tongue. It was an odd sensation but an enjoyable one. "I could get 'V', it always helps but it is difficult to obtain the legal stuff since they would know I was a techa at the hospital and might report me, I can't take that chance." he replied to her next question. She was full of questions but he was only giving information she could not use against him.
"I don't know what my real name is, no one ever told me, so I took a name from that picture book." he said and pointed through the open glass door at a faded comic book on the floor. "It's called 'Batman- The Caped Crusader'. He was what they called a Super Hero before the apocalypse. His real name is Bruce Wayne. I'm a lot like him so I took on his name. I am Bruce Wayne, no matter who I was in the past. That is why I live in this penthouse and look after the people of the city. I think, I am a Super Hero, even if I am not as powerful as some mutants." he described his reason for having the name he went by. "But I have no fear, just like Bruce Wayne in the book, he is not afraid of death and I am not afraid of anything. I think it is a good choice."
"Are you going to stay with me now?" he asked curiously since she lost her Techa and he was a lost Techa. "I don't mind if you want to but I won't leave here. Bruce Wayne has to live in a penthouse. The book says so." he informed her, revealing the blatant innocence of someone who's whole life (that he remembered) was based on a comic book he'd found. It was not lack of maturity, he had all that he could handle with everything he had been through and the example that he had taken in a Super Hero, it was pure innocence.

Briella's gaze softened as she listened to him. "You are not a freak. Stop calling yourself that. Your unique I like it." Why couldn't she have had a techa like this? One that was easier to work with that didn't seem so crazy at times. It hit Briella how much she missed this. The quiet camaraderie that came with a bond. As she had been wrapping the blanket around him, she had seen a subtle attraction, but she could not bring herself to pray on it. No matter, how much she wanted to feel a connection to someone. Her maker's death had left a hole in her, and she fought to fill it and find a reason not to hate him. Perhaps his death was a gift a release of him and his burden.
When he averted his eyes and pulled the blanket closer about him, she too finally could break the spell he had over her and took a moment to still the crazy rush within her nerves he created. As he spoke of Jack, she shook her head and sighed. " I am new to the precinct, I didn't know that we had such a dangerous killer on the loose. " Her hands lifted and pulled back through her hair a little frustrated to think that more reinforcements had not been sent that Mathias was serious when he said they had needed help. " Well if you find out anything more would you tell me? I will pass along the info to the investigating detective. I will leave you out of it." Yes, she felt protective he was her's to protect. The sudden thought hit her, and she shook her head. She should not feel so protective of him, but she did.
A side glance she took him in again. Listening as he talked about getting V. Her gaze shifted up, and she spoke rather suddenly. " No. I'll take care of you. You are right." Knowingly, she let him give her only information that he would tell her. Wanting to earn his trust, she would not push him or place anything in jeopardy with him, for the moment. "Don't worry about getting V. I no longer have a techa so taking care of you won't be a hindrance. If you allow me, I'll make sure you are taken care of besides. The crap they give in vials isn't half as good as straight from the source. " The detective in her was always full of questions, the protector in her only added to it.
Listening to how he came about his name, she laughed softly out of pleasure and moved towards the comic he spoke of. " Picture book huh? They were called Comic books long ago. Children and adults collected and cherished these. " she stared at it but did not touch it. "There were even shows where people dressed up wanting to be Bruce Wayne, and here you are the real deal. You don't know how lucky you are to be alive Bruce. It is not a good choice it's a great one." He had very valid reasons behind why he chose the name, and she couldn't agree more.
When he asked if she was going to stay with him now it took her back. " Do you want me to stay with you Bruce?" She had her own place, and she knew he belonged here misplacing him would be too much of a trauma on him, and he had already been through enough. His innocence said it all. Glancing to the city she sighed. "I don't know where I would sleep during the day Bruce, this isn't set up to protect me right now. " she didn't have a techa anymore, and that reality hit him. However, she felt as if she did glancing over to him. "I'll stay with you. But I'd like to repair some things here if you let me." Such as get him water and electricity if she could sometime. Keeping him a secret from Mathias was going to be hard. That man was practically telepathic and could read things like open books. Just from what she had seen and what she had heard. Walking back towards him, she glanced to the city once more. " Have you eaten today?" Figuring like most techas and some mutants, he might be extremely hungry from his raised metabolism. " I will get you anything you want just ask." As she waited for him to answer her hand came to brush against his neck and cheek once more affectionately.

Bruce was glad she didn’t touch the comic book. The pages were difficult to turn without them cracking. “Be careful of the book.” He warned her, “It’s falling apart so I leave it there. I forgot the put the bowl over it.” He said and pointed again inside at the Island that separated the living area from the unused kitchen area. There was a large clear bowl that looked like it would just fit over the book with its pages opened. “I wish I had one that wasn’t going to fall apart, so I could read it more.” He finally stopped shivering and let the blanket fall open some, feeling more comfortable with the Vampire. For some reason, something inside him told him he could trust her. That being said, he still didn’t fully trust her but he trusted that she would not hurt him or to anything to cause him harm.
He was glad she knew about Batman and he listened with a childlike look on his face. The short description of Batman’s origins thrilled him and he wanted to hear more. He wished he could dress up like Batman because no one would know it was him and could not identify him. He story was over too quickly and he made a note to ask her more about it later.
Bruce wondered why her close proximity caused him to feel funny; funny in a good way. “I don’ t mind if you stay with me, Briella.” He answered, “And there is a place for you to sleep safe, it’s easy to get to but takes longer to get back out of.” He informed her. “You can repair anything you want, I have been trying. Bringing water and food up here takes a lot of effort, I could use more time defending the innocent.” His words were matter-of-fact and to the point. He nodded his head when she asked if he had eaten and was about to get up when he felt her hand caress him again. Once again the stirring in his gut made him shiver and he felt that funny feeling again. He leaned into the caress for a moment and wondered why it felt so good.
Bruce’s clothing was damp and he didn’t like how that felt. As a matter of fact, he didn’t care for clothing much at all so while he was at home, he rarely wore anything. He let the blanket fall away and looked down at his groin, where the funny feeling came from and frowned, “I hate it when it does that. Some day I’m going to read that anatomy book and find out why it does that.” He said innocently, “And how to make it stop.” He suddenly stood up and strode into the penthouse, stripping off his dampened clothing and kicking off his shoes so that all that was left was a skin tight pair of black boxer briefs that left nothing to the imagination, especially with the chubby he was sporting.
Bruce left a trail of clothing, all the way to a door, which he opened and revealed case after case of field rations that were used by those who were not vampires on the VSF payroll. “I eat good, I don’t know where these come from but I find them in the same place in the lobby every week.” He really didn’t know about where they came from because whoever left them seemed to wait until they knew no one would see him. If he had been familiar with the scent, he would have identified it as Mathias Levique, but Mathias was too smart for that and used one of his mothers spells to mask it. For all any other vampire knew, the boxes were delivered by a muskrat.
“Come on, I’ll show you the safe place.” He said and turned back into the main room. He took an immediate right and walked out another door into a short hallway that lead to an elevator. He walked up to it and pried the doors open. Inside there was no elevator lift, just the long cables that hung down the shaft. He reached for something inside the doors that was stuffed in a panel and pulled out a device that he fearlessly attached to the cables. He reached in the panel and took out another and handed it to Briella, “Come on.” He said with a smile, grabbed the handles on the device, and jumped. He disappeared down the shaft at blinding speed.
