Angelique had been sitting at her desk since her back had started to hurt badly and she figured she could do some paper work and relax at the same time. Her hand slid down along the bulge of her belly where her baby lay inside of her. She began to sign papers after reading them. Her secretary came in and set some more papers down and she groaned at all the work. She was so tired but these couldn't wait. "Don't you have the stamp with my signature on it?" The lady shook her head no. "No, you threw it at someone that had gotten on your nerves. I could hear Vengeance's laughter the whole time."
Angelique made a face. "Well, didn't it survive it?" The lady grinned and then laughed. "No, not at all. It's somewhere in the wall." Angelique nodded her head smiling some as she continued to rub her belly. "Alright. I will fill these out then. Thank you." She murmured as she took a pen and tried to maneuver around to get situated. Gabriel didn't like that she was working at all and how quickly she had developed in the pregnancy. Within a month she had looked four months pregnant. Now she looked ready to give birth at any moment.
She reclined back in the chair and brought a foot up as best she could as if trying to massage her aching feet but she couldn't reach it so gave up with a soft sigh and began to work on the paper work again. But slowly her eyes were drifting down in her tiredness. She tried to use the desk to pull herself up but it didn't work since the desk kept sliding and the chair as well. She was trying to get out of the chair to move to the couch to lay down.
She heard someone knock on the door and groaned as she stopped fighting to stand up. "What is it now?" The door opened and the secretary stood there. "Are the papers done?" Angelique shook her head no. "Not yet. I'll send them out. You go ahead and go home. You should be tired helping me all night tonight and last night." The woman gave her a frown. "Please it's fine or do I have to throw something at you?" She was getting annoyed with the woman finding idiotic reasons to come check on her. The woman finally left closing the door and then soon she heard the other door close as the woman went and left.
A sigh of relief came then. "Finally!" She went back to rubbing her stomach figuring she would get up sooner or later. Well, the chair was actually becoming more comfortable now and she let her eyes drift shut as she reclined in the chair. "Mmm..." Yes, rest from the ache of her back and feet.

Gabriel was dressed to the nines. He had made a decision and he was not going to falter from it. He was ready to fight to the death to claim his right and there was nothing that could change his mind…except Angelique. If she told him not to go this route, he would have no choice but to bow out. But by doing that, his honor would be slandered and he would have no choice but to step down from the magistrate and disappear into the unknown. He had no choice. If the child was raised with Drake as his father, he could grow up a bloodthirsty tyrant, if it was Thor, he could very well end up with no father at all since he was nearly 1000, if it was Stoney? Well, that guy is just completely off his rocker, a bullet short of a six shooter, a steer short of a herd, unstable as liquid dynamite. No, his child needed a real father. One that would be there all the time, one he could count on when he needed him, one that would teach him honor, duty, loyalty and most importantly, how to be a vampire without being a villain.
He knew just where to find Angelique since she was always working. As much as she knew vampire babies didn’t often survive and she needed to rest, she would still be working and putting herself and the child in danger. The child would arrive soon and she should be gaining her strength, feasting until she could feast no more, but no….She would be sitting behind that desk. That was one of the reasons he hand in tow behind him, an extremely well built young man with a sculpted body lead along by a golden chain attached to a jeweled collar. His hands were shackled with golden gauntlets and he wore nothing save a pure white breech cloth that left little to the imagination. She would eat if he brought the food to her mouth and how could she resist his Richard.
He was dressed in his best black suite with a blue and black striped tie. It was not different than any other day other than the fact that he wore a sash that sported his family crest and one arm was covered in armor from the fingertips to his shoulder. He was on a knights quest and his manner of dress made it official. He only wore these things when the magistrate had to vote on things and he would be expected to make an official proclamation. Many eyes turned to him as he walked upright and proper through the room full of workers trying to close up and get home before the sun came up. Gabriel wasn’t worried about the sun, he could just sleep here in the safety of Angelique’s quarters. Even if he didn’t have carnal knowledge of her this evening, he would be here to guard her as he had been every night in the last few weeks, sometimes when she didn’t even know he was there.
He saw the light under the door of the office as he approached it and shook his head. He took the last few strides to the door and opened it. He looked at his exhausted object of desire and sighed. “You know you are supposed to be resting.” He complained. Without letting go of the gold chain, he crossed the room to her and lifted her bridal style out of the chair, “No protesting.” He commanded as he carried her out of the office, “That can wait until nightfall.” He added and carried her off to her rooms. He glared at the man on the leash when he got to the door and jerked his head toward the door knob, indicating for him to open it. The blood slave made no argument and quickly opened the door and held it open. He crossed the room and laid her on the bed then sat down next to her. He pulled her shoes off and began rubbing her feet. “You know, you are going to exhaust yourself, and I would really like for you to survive childbirth.” He stated as he reached his hand up to touch her swollen belly. He closed his eyes and listened for a moment then opened them again and looked at her, “You know, he is not happy, you have not fed enough.” With that he jerked the golden leash and the Adonis quickly moved to his side. He jerked his head toward the bed, “Feed her.” He commanded and the blood slave climbed onto the bed next to her. “Eat…” he told her.

Angelique was glad when the woman had left. She had been practically in her personal space so much she wanted to throw something at her. She needed to calm down but she had stuff to do and things to get done. She signed with one hand or tried to as she felt her hunger growing. She had been eating so much that it seemed never ending. How long had it been since she last fed? A few hours and yet, she was hungry once more. She dropped the pen down and ran a hand through her hair pushing it back from her face. She went back to signing papers but then her eyes were drifting close. Yes, rest and breathe.
But then her door opened suddenly and her eyes popped open in surprise. She looked at him from head to toe and he was magnificent. He looked the one that had a plan and fully intended of getting his way come Hell or high water. "Yes, but I do have a business to run and I am resting. I'm seated in a chair just signing papers." She grinned at that as she looked at him. "Not like I'm out dancing, Gabriel." But then he had moved to her and was lifting her out of the chair. Well, at least she had finally gotten out of the chair though it was becoming somewhat comfortable. She opened her mouth to say something when he told her no protesting.
She blinked at his demeanor of telling her what to do. "But..." But was all she could get out as he carried her to the door and then she noticed the blood slave. It was obvious that that was what he was from the lack of clothing and the man was so perfect in structure. But what she was hearing was his heartbeat even as she looked at him. She was starting to get even more hungry and the more she looked at the man the hungrier she got. Her eyes shown their predatory intent but then she was laid on the bed.
She had been so deep in thought of sinking her fangs into the man that she couldn't even remember Gabriel moving from one room to the other. She slowly turned her eyes from the blood slave to Gabriel wanting to whine. She felt him slip off her shoes and begin to rub her feet. She practically purred at his fingertips rubbing out the soreness. "But I can't just stay in bed always and I have to get some work done." But then she felt his hand on her swollen belly as he had done so many times but still made her want to smile even though she was annoyed that everyone was telling her to stay in bed and Gabriel always seemed to know when she was hungry. She had exhausted most of her own blood slaves and workers that they were asking to be sold or to be moved for the time being. "I have been feeding. But it's never enough. I'm always hungry..."
She frowned some. "I've practically exhausted all of my blood slaves and my workers. I can only take so much and a few times Vengeance even had to pull them away from me before I killed them." Her eyes slid back to the blood slave as Gabriel told him with a nod of his head to get onto the bed with her. Her gaze slid over to the man moving even closer to her at Gabriel's command of him to feed her. She heard his command of her to eat. "Gabriel..." She whispered softly almost hesitant on drinking from the blood slave and wanting him to stop this but she could smell the scent wafting off of him and though she wanted to fight it she couldn't. His heartbeat sounding in her ears like a Siren's call to her. "Gabriel..." She repeated with a mixture of hunger and annoyance.
She couldn't stop it even if she wanted to. Her tongue slid out to run across her lips even as she grabbed the man's shoulders as he came to get closer. As the man moved so that her lips were practically pressed against his neck the scent of him pulling her in more. She grabbed the collar on him with a hand and made a sound of hunger that was almost animal-like. Finally though she slid her fangs roughly into the blood slave's neck lifting the collar to get at where she could drink from that very vein that had been beckoning her. Her eyes slid to Gabriel even as she drank from Gabriel's blood slave.
She moaned as the blood slave's blood slid onto her tongue and her fingernails practically dug into his skin on his shoulder as if holding him by the collar wasn't enough. She wanted to throw something at Gabriel. She wanted to bite him for his commanding of her. But she couldn't tell him off right now with her mouth busy. Blood slid down along her chin just a bit from where she continued to drink from the man. She moaned more as she tried to push the blood slave away but her body wasn't working with her mind. She glared at Gabriel for his high handedness and annoyed with herself that she wasn't arguing with him. But dammit Gabriel was right that she was hungry. But the glare slowly turned to a look of pleasure as she drank from the blood slave. Her eyes closing ever so slowly.

Gabriel knew Angelique could very well turn on him and give him grief, but he also knew that she knew when it came to the health of her and the child, he would not bargain with her. The child may have had many fathers but he was the only one who had been able to establish a relationship with the child before it was even born. He could read the child, know its comfort or discomfort. It did concern him slightly that the little vampire’s hunger was growing so insatiable. Even as Angelique whined at him and glared at him, he could see the hunger in her eyes.
His blood slave had been with him since he was 15 when he was convicted of killing the man who beat his mother for stealing food, and he was now a stunning specimen at 25. Gabriel had trained him as a squire and seen to his perfect health for 10 years now. Gabriel had always thought the crime was honorable so he took special interest in the lad. It didn’t matter if Angelique drained him of every drop because Gabriel planned to turn him and make him a guard anyway. He could simply feed him is blood and sleep with him from sun down to sun up and viola, perfect guard.
“I know, Love.” He cooed back at Angie, knowing that she knew he was right. When Gabriel was right, and he wasn’t often wrong, Angie’s argument was invalid because Gabriel would not waver from what he knew to be true and right. It often lead to fantastic heated arguments that usually lead to angry sex, then make up sex, and that was always good because he and Angelique had known each other for so long, they knew every inch of each other’s bodies. He continued to rub her feet and reached once again for her swollen belly to ‘listen’ to the child that was partly his son. He could feel its thoughts of hunger calming. “He is strong Angie, it must be the age of the fathers, and Drakes bloodline.” Any human male might feel betrayed that there were so many fathers of one child but in the vampire world, that was the way of it.
She had no control over the number of vampires who contributed to its conception. Pure animal instinct would drive her mad with desire until the conception of the child was set in stone and the more donors the child had for its creation, the stronger it would be. Also, taking into consideration the age and powers of the fathers involved, its ability to survive once out of the womb depended on strength and this child had been truly blessed by four of the fathers being very old and very powerful. The cowboy, on the other hand had only one redeeming quality in Gabriel’s eyes; pure stubborn loyalty to his maker. That, at least, was something. Then there was that certain something that Gabriel couldn’t put his finger on. There was a strange light to the child, a goodness without measure, deep in his core. For the life of him, he couldn’t think of which father that could have come from…maybe the cowboy? Nah.
When he heard his blood slave let out a gasp then his heart slowed, Gabriel stood up and manually pulled him away from Angie. Before she could protest, he took her face in his hands and kissed her with mild passion to snap her instinctual brain back into reality. As he pulled his lips away, he saw his slave roll over and lay back with his hand over his eyes, panting softly. He was fine. He looked down at Angie and gave her his cute little boy pout. “Are you cross with me?” he asked then smiled softly. “You know I just couldn’t stand it if something happened to you, or the child.” He reached for a stray lock of hair that had fallen into her face and brushed it gently back. “Please, let me send over one of my accountants to handle your paperwork.” He requested. “The time for the child to arrive is nigh. You both need your strength. I can also send over a few blood slaves.”
He wondered if any of the other fathers had shown any kind of interest in the child or in Angelique's health and welfare...

Angelique knew everyone's especially Gabriel's intentions were good but she could handle a little paperwork. It wasn't as if she were making her rounds about the club. She had the first month and when she started showing people started looking at her in shock. So Angelique decided staying in the office was for the best. But the strange part was how even at any distance the baby seemed to call out to Gabriel especially when Angelique was in distraught. Like with the chair and trying to get out of it. Gabriel always seemed to come at the right moments. Did he pay off some of her employees or blood slaves to tell him what was going on? She continued to glare at him. She could do some things by herself dammit. The chair was a trap...
But nonetheless Gabriel got her free of it. Oh, how she was starving. It seemed a never ending thing anymore. She was always so hungry and right now she wanted a taste from Gabriel's blood slave. Her back was starting to hurt again and she just wanted to be left alone. Every time she turned around someone was there and most times offering up their blood. She glared at Gabriel because she knew he knew she was hungry. She wondered how many had gone to him over her having to either pulled off of someone or the person being pulled from her embrace.
But here she was doing exactly what he wanted with her fangs in the blood slave's neck. Don't lie you wanted to have his blood, too. She knew she was angry at Gabriel but as she tasted the blood it tasted so good all she could do was hold on to the blood slave and drink. She felt bad for the man but she was so hungry. She kept a firm hold on him as she drank. Oh, he tasted so good and she couldn't get enough. The more she drank from him the more she wanted. Her eyes slowly slid closed as she drank his blood. She gave a soft moan of enjoyment.
She sucked hard on the man's neck that droplets slid down the side of her mouth as she drank. It was almost as if she truly wanted to drain the man dry just from the taste of his blood. The feel of Gabriel's fingers as he rubbed her feet made her enjoy all the more and she tightened her hold on the blood slave even as she felt Gabriel's hand on her swollen stomach once more. She partly heard his words but her thoughts were on the blood feeding herself and the baby. But she felt the baby kick Gabriel's hand as if to tell him to stop talking while he was enjoying the food or rather nourishment his mother was giving him. Angelique gave a sound at the feel of the kick inside of her.
She heard the gasp and drank harder from him as if she wanted every drop of it. But suddenly she felt the blood slave grabbed and pulled from her and she hissed in anger at it but then she was being kissed and reality came to form. She felt the hands on her face and she watched as Gabriel pulled his lips away. She glared at Gabriel as she realized what had happened and she looked up at him and saw that cute little boy pout. She wanted to melt at it but then he'd know how much that got to her and she growled at him. "Yes, I am."
She frowned. "Nothing was happening! I was in a chair signing papers. What could have happened?" Oh, that's right you couldn't get out of the chair. She felt him brushing the strand of her hair back from her face. "Gabriel..." She wanted to throw something at him and picked up the pillow and went to try to hit him with it. "I'm not going to let accountants do what I already know how to do." She groaned at his response of sending over a few blood slaves and shook her head. "Look at this one! I'd end up killing them if someone weren't around." She ran her tongue over her lips with a frown before she laid back on her pillows and went to put her feet on the floor stubbornly. "I really do appreciate it, Gabriel but I can still work. I need to get those papers signed." She spoke stubbornly.

Gabriel loved how much he could get under Angelique's skin. It meant he was in her head and he liked that. He knew there were often times when he took the back burner in her life but he knew that he would always be there to pick up the pieces if she got hurt. He was her lover on many occasions but most importantly, he was her best friend. He was the one person in the world that he knew would never hurt her and would always be there for her. For example, where were the other fathers of the children. Did they bring her food, try to comfort her, stand by her while she carried their child that could endanger her life and its own? No, but he was there. He loved her and no matter what she did, nothing could ever change that. Not that he shared well but he wanted Angie to be happy and he would support her in anything she decided to do that made her happy, as long as it didn’t hurt her. But, Gabriel found that his thoughts on the matter were changing now that she was with child. It would be her child for eternity, or until she met the true death, God forbid.
“Angie…” his face softened as his thoughts of how he felt about her surfaced. “You know I just want what’s best for you, and our child.” He reached to put his hand on her cheek lovingly. “We have known each other for now long now?” The years had gone by so fast he sometimes lost count. “I just cant imagine living in this world without you.” This time his frown was more genuine as the thought of it felt his heart feeling empty. He quickly shook it away. “And you know you can’t lie to me. I know you were stuck in that chair, albeit comfortable, it made it difficult for you to get the sustenance I know he was demanding from you. And, you know I can feel him and hear him…if he is not happy, I know it. When he is not happy, I worry about you.” He let his hand drop and reached over to tap his recovering slave, “Go to the next room, the one I use when I stay here, and lay down.” He commanded just because he wanted to be alone with Angelique. He watched as the Adonis got up and left, closing the door behind him.
Gabriel looked back at Angelique. “I will trade you 10 slaves until after the child is born just so you have fresh slaves. That way your slaves can recover and you still get fed.” He said resolutely. “You have to admit you need them and it’s just a trade.” He suddenly looked thoughtful, “What about the angel, that Archer fellow, his blood is more fortified and you will feed less often.” He suggested but he really didn’t know how she felt about feeding something like that to the child. “It might be good for him, what do you think?”

Angelique knew Gabriel had the best intentions but Angelique still wanted to do things her way and work kept her mind off of the terrors of what could happen. What if the baby and her died or just the baby? What if she died? What would happen? Her eyes slid down to her hands. She kept working and doing things to keep her mind off it all. She slowly brought her gaze back up to Gabriel. He was her best friend and more. She loved him so much but she didn't want to talk about her fears even though she knew he already knew her thoughts. She knew that if she met the true death then Gabriel would protect their child and Vengeance would be right there as well. He'd be changing loyalty to take care of her son right along side of Gabriel.
She looked up more into his softened features as he spoke her nickname. Her eyes slid closed as she felt his hand on her cheek. She may be angry at him but she loved him and the feel of his hand was comforting as she put her face more into his hand. Her eyes slid open at his question and she wasn't sure the answer. She had lost count. She just knew he was always there. She could remember their first meeting and her lips curved at the memory. "Quite a long time." She had been a child in vampire years and then there was that time she had passed him while going riding with Marcel. But then his words struck her like a lead weight. "There is a possibility, Gabriel that I won't survive..." She knew the risks of it and the possibility that she would not survive this. But then he changed the subject to the chair. "It was fine. I would have gotten out of it eventually..." Possibly? Yeah right, you were stuck. "It wouldn't have hurt not to feed for a bit..." She defended some. "And as I said he's always hungry and so am I..."
She watched as he tapped his slave and told him to go to the next room. She watched as he left and frowned some. What was Gabriel planning? She looked back at Gabriel then. But then she blinked in shock at his words and him getting straight to the point. "But if you trade slaves won't you be hungry?" But his words made her unsure but she blinked at his asking of Archer. "Yes, his blood would be good for the baby." Since Archer was one of the father's especially but would Archer agree and there was a chance she could get addicted to the blood as well... "Wait... Shhh..." Wasn't Archer supposed to be a secret? He was in hiding and she looked to the door. But then looked back at Gabriel. "You need to feed as well, Gabriel and you losing ten slaves to have ten of mine recuperating won't be any good for you." She tried to stand up and had to push herself up and moved close to Gabriel before putting a hand on his chest as if to shove him back.
"Don't start getting all boss on me, Gabriel. Who knows I may even bite you." She gave a soft laugh at that.

Angelique seemed to be off her game. Gabriel never would have mentioned Archer if someone had been around. That’s one of the reasons he sent the slave away. He shook his head and sighed, pinching the bridge of his nose. “I have 30 slaves, I can live on twenty until the child is born. He will come any day now. I’ll be fine. I wont be exhausting 20 slaves in a month, if we did that, the human race would have died centuries ago.” He flashed a sweet crooked smile. “And we would all be FAT.” He gave her stomach a gentle poke.
He moved so she was not pushing on his chest anymore, ignoring the gesture because he was unsure what it meant. He moved so he was lying beside her and tucked his arm behind her then patted his chest. “Just get comfortable for a minute, you don’t need to rush off anywhere.” He said in his charming way. “You know I’m not going anywhere.” He added. He remembered he had his official knight armaments on his arm and his sash he wore to make official proclaimations but he wondered if it was a good time to do it now…

Angelique stared up at him exhausted. Everything was in turmoil and she was sore and she had things to do. Her work needed to be done. She shouldn't be just laying around in bed. Plus with Gunnar not being there she wanted to make sure Jakob was okay. She watched as Gabriel pinched the bridge of his nose as if she were missing something and shook his head. She heard his sigh. She heard his words and perked an eyebrow looking down at her swollen stomach before looking back at him before remarking dryly. "I can't even see my own feet standing up." She poked him in the shoulder. "I'm pregnant not fat, jerk." But she gave a grin since she couldn't help it.
She watched as he moved away from her pushing at his chest. But before she could get up more fully she felt him tuck an arm about her and saw him pat his chest. She wanted to say no that she had to get back to work but she decided a few minutes wouldn't hurt any. What made it harder was him telling her that he wasn't going anywhere. She couldn't resist. She needed to lay down. She was hurting and so she lay her head on his chest pressed more fully against him.
"I do have to work some time, you know?" But she knew she wasn't going to try getting up. She was comfortable."Have you seen Jakob? I'm worried about him." She moved her cheek against his chest. "Mmm..." He was so comfortable and that's when she realized that he looked so official. She sat up some and looked down at him. "Why are you looking so official, Gabriel? Is there a meeting or something going on?" Her features shown her confusion because she hadn't heard of anything. She met his eyes and frowned some but ran her hand along the fabric lightly. It had felt nice against her cheek.

Gabriel grinned that he was able to get a rise out of her. He liked it when she slapped him. It was another indication that he was in her head. “You’re beautiful when you are angry. He smirked and grabbed the hand she slapped him with and brought it to his lips to kiss it before letting it go. He drapped his arm around her possessively and smiled. This was his favorite way to sit with her. He could feel her and smell her and touch her. He felt closest to her when she was like this.
“He is with Archer. Having a singing lesson I supposed. He has a remarkable first boy soprano, although I never saw how singing scales could teach anyone to sing songs.” He shrugged and toyed with a lock of her hair, content to just sit with her while her body absorbed the nutrients from his blood slave and grew stronger, healing her where she was hurting. He stiffened slightly when she asked why he was looking so official. He cleared his throat nervously but he knew he had to get this over with…
“I…well I…well there is only one way to say it.” He began nervously. “I demand right of father prime to your child.” He blurted it out all at once. “I was the first donor, I…I’m a man or honor, I…I am a man of duty and integrity.” He racked his brain for the things he had rehearsed on the way over but it had all leaked out of his ears. “I would be a good father Angie. I mean, who else has come to see you? Who else has made sure you are fed, get your rest, came to see you and inquire about how you feel? Who else has shown any interest at all in the child?” he could answer that question for her but she knew the answer…no one. “Come on, Angie. We’ve don’t it before…played house for awhile…we can do it again, can’t we?” he knew that even if she declined to let him ‘play house’ with her, he would still stake his claim at the coming council meeting, he had a feeling no one would want the honor enough to fight him for it. This was his only real change to have a child of his own…he was ready to fight for it.

Angelique saw the grin after she slapped him. "And I didn't get myself this way! That was part of your help as well." She grinned but narrowed her eyes as she rubbed her belly. She couldn't help that she was growing more in the belly. She felt him grab the hand she had slapped him with and kiss it before he let go. "I can't wait to get back to work more fully..." But what if she died? Then her work was done. What about the baby she carried? Would the baby be okay or would it die with her? She felt good right here with Gabriel. Felt good being held like this. It put her at ease and made it so that she didn't worry as much. Laying here in Gabriel's arms was soothing and made everything a little better. She breathed in his scent and rubbed her cheek on his chest.
"Archer seems to have taken to the boy." She smiled some at that. "And I'm not very well versed in music. I listen to mostly what is done in the casino. And no, trying to steal Archer to your casino." She laughed softly. "Archer is very well versed in music." But then so was Vengeance but he rarely sang but Archer had the voice of an angel. And the perfection of one as well. She still couldn't believe how she had stumbled on him. But she lay in Gabriel's arms content and relaxed as her body took in the blood before she felt Gabriel stiffen at her question.
Angelique heard his words after he cleared his throat. She went to speak but he kept on label himself. But then he spoke of the other fathers and she cringed at the harshness of his questions. She knew though that when it came down to it if she said no it would be a fight that would last a long time. "We did play house for awhile. If I remember then you got used to me being around and started 'working' later and later." She remarked softly but she gave a soft sigh. What had she expected? It was always business propositions in a way. She turned her face away looking at her belly. Wasn't that what this city was built on? "What if I say no? Not that I am. I am just curious what you would do, Gabriel."

Gabriel thought carefully about her question. He truly loved her but he had taken a back burner to everything else in her life so often, he had to wonder what it was that she truly wanted from him. He knew this had to be about the baby. He had a feeling that she was not going to let him be any more than a supportive friend with occasional benefits and that had been enough tin the past. With the existence of the baby, that was no longer and option for Gabriel.
How could he answer her question? What would he do if she told him she didn't want to give her consent to be a real family? What if she had no care for his honor and told him to go to hell? He had the answer to that.
"Then I will demand the right of father prime before the council and challenge all fathers to a duel to the death and fight for that privilege, as is my right." His voice was confident and determined. "I will engage in that fight to the death to defend my honor against all other donors. The cowboy will go down easy and I am fairly certain I can take Jan-kai quite easily. Thor will be a very big challenge and with some luck, I may prevail but it is doubtful. If not, he is an honorable man and will make my death swift. If by some chance I do defeat Thor, I will face my demise at the hands of King Drake. I will die honorably."
Never did he voice waiver. His head was held high, his hand went to his family crest and a soft sigh involuntarily escaped him. He gently stroked the the Kingman seal, "My fathers name will die with me but it will die with honor and integrity intact." he said in a smaller voice that was filled with satisfied pride. "I would rather help you raise our son to be a honorable man to retain my honor. But, whether that is an option remains to be seen."

Angelique knew what she was looking for but Gabriel never really spoke it out loud while he showed it through action. She looked up at him as he began to seem to think over her question. Her eyes slowly narrowed but had turned drowsy. Her eyes though slowly began to close before they opened suddenly as he began to speak. She sat up as best she could glaring at him.
She felt the kick in her stomach and winced some but she was angry at Gabriel. Typical man. She wanted to smack him. "Like any of the others would step up and take responsibility." Her voice was almost icy as she tried to get up but she couldn't. She was stuck laying there and she was getting angrier at Gabriel as he spoke. No proclamation of love. It was always like a business transaction. She wanted to say yes but she didn't want a business proposition.
But suddenly she turned her eyes back to his and glared angrily at him. "And he will be able to say the words I love you since I will teach him to. Not making everything into a business proposition. He will have feeling and a soul! Yes, actions speak loud but words sometimes don't hurt either, Gabriel!" She finally got seated on the bed about to get up but then she got a bit dizzy when she went to stand and sat back down. "Ugh!" She so wasn't being graceful at all.
She didn't care. She was angry. "Do you ever think about something else other than responsibility, honor, and fighting?" She moved some and went to shove him.

Now Gabriel was angry but not in the way one might think. He was more flabbergasted, fed up and annoyed. How could she say this to him? When were the words, “I love you.” Even invented? He didn’t know but everything he did in his life was out of love for her. Even keeping his honor so she would not be disgraced, it was the code of the knight which he would always be. She moved out from under him and he stood up. Her attempts at getting up were almost comical but he was not in the mood to laugh.
He gently pushed her back on the bed, knowing she could not fight in her condition and he was willing to take anything she would dish out as punishment for his actions. He planted one arm on each side of her and looked her in the eye. Fire burned in his pupils as he hissed, “Shut up, Angelique.” His vampire instincts of possession and preservation had kicked in. “You speak of love? I have loved you from the moment I laid eyes on you.” He growled. “I just said that I would rather die than to live without you and our child. If that is not love, what is?” his voice softened as his eyes filled with unrevealed pain. “If it were not for my honor…” He blinked as red liquid moistened his lower eyelid, “..preventing me…I would have daywalked the first time I realized, I would never be your prime mate.” He leaned his forehead against hers and closed his eyes and fought back the emotion, because Knights do not cry unless it is on the feet of their king. “I do love you Ange, more than anything I have or ever could love, you are my reason to exsist…my honor is the only thing that keeps me alive, because I will not shame you by daywalking…” He moved and turned his back to her, trying to contain the bloody tears that wanted to spill down his cheeks. He held his head high and took a deep breath with his eyes closed.

Angelique saw the anger coming over his face even as her face shown with it as she tried to get up. He stood up and by then she finally got herself in a sitting position. She glared up at him knowing she probably looked quite terrible at trying to sit up and being stuck. But then he was pushing her back on the bed and glared more. She had had so much trouble getting up that to be put back on her back she knew she'd be stuck again and she couldn't fight in this condition either.
She met his eyes since she couldn't really look anywhere else and watched him plant one arm on each side of her. She wasn't afraid of him and knew he wouldn't hurt her. But then she heard him tell her to shut up and she blinked in shock at him but she did shut up because she had been surprised by it. But her mouth dropped open at his words. But then she felt his forehead on her forehead and lifted a hand to touch his cheek and slid her fingers along his cheek. "How do you know that?" She spoke softly. "How do you know I would never have you as my prime mate? You may be able to read my mind but my mind is not my heart!"
When he turned his back to her she wanted to reach for a pillow and hit him hard with it. Stubborn! And dammit she had to get back up. She really wanted to hit him. "You won't daywalk because I'd come out, too and in so doing you'd get us both killed!" She tried to get up again and growled at him as she gave an angry sound as she moved curling somewhat against him. "Yes, I'm angry with you but look around. Who else is here with me? And no matter how many times I get angry and walk away or kick you out or whatever you do did you not think inside that thick skull that I want you gone permanently? That I... Want another to be my prime mate?"
