It wasn't long after the sun settled that the convoy arrived in New Vegas. Pulled by the oxen and horses the travel had taken longer than she really thought it would or wanted it too. Though transfers were rare and far between Briella was still very glad to have the papers before her. The transports were dusty from the long travels. The animals were tired, and in need of food, water and rest. At least the ones that made it were in need of such things. Some had been lost in the few attacks that had come upon the convoys crossings. There were marks and damages done to the transports that came from the slow treck across the other states to here. Peeking outside the transports confines as it came to a stop at the parking bay of the VSF. The deep crimson locks fell into the brilliant glittering gaze of Briella's eyes. She knew she needed to report in but, for the moment, she needed to stretch her legs. Being cramped within the confined space during the day took its toll on her.
Her slender and toned form slipped through the doors of the convoy transport as she stepped out finally glad to be at their destination. Arms reached above her head as she stretched graceful like a cat her limber form bent and twisted pushing the kinks from her muscles and the tension of the long journey from her shoulders. The traveling had been long and a little arduous, but it had been worth it. Anything to be away from Chicago. There had been a few moments that Briella had hoped for more trouble when they had been crossing the wastes than they had had. It had been luck, but a little part of her was disappointed. Her anger was pent up. She was mad at the fact her sire had left her like this. However, she was sad as well she felt as if part of her was missing.
There was a soft breeze in the loading and unloading bays. It shifted the glinting crimson curls about her shoulders and features. Her hair had grown longer over the last few months. Something she was thankful for. It helped in moments when she just wanted the world to disappear to allow her a moment to think. It felt like a curse the way her mind was always going and never really getting a moment to stop.
Her spirits had lightened when they had finally arrived in New Vegas. She was thankful that she didn't look around and see nothing but reminders of Lorcan everywhere. The fact her maker chose to greet the sun with open arms and leave her alone still had moments that affected her. Shaking off those thoughts she turned reaching backward within the transport and retrieved her meager amount of belongings. Most she chose to abandon or give away back in Chicago. A fresh place and that meant she would just get everything new but what she needed at the moment, and those were her work uniforms and gear.
"Detective Valcorne?"
Hearing the voice, Briella turned offering the Oxen driver who had been responsible for getting her here safely a warm smile. " Yes?" tilting her head as she inspected him curiously. It was something Briella was known to do never much for words she was more for action. She crossed her arms beneath her breast lightly as she waited for him to finish addressing her. The stance was languid and comfortable.
"Here are your papers and the rest of the information you will need for the Chief of VSF here. Good luck."
His offered smile had her laugh softly. " I have a feeling, I may need it. " Taking the papers, she nodded to him. " Thank you." A wink of the crystalline gaze she gathered her things and settled her pack on her shoulder heading off and into the VSF Building. Relieved that she didn't have to be alone yet as she wasn't quite sure she wanted to. The bustle of the building seemed to energize her. As she moved with purpose through the throngs of workers and prisoners. Stopping one of the passing officers without a prisoner in tow she asked for the directions to perhaps the building map or where she might find the chief or his offices. Once she was given the directions, she approached the office.
Knocking she waited patiently to be told to enter a little nervous now as it was the tell all moments of whether or not she would be pushed to tell of her choice and reasons for leaving. Though she knew and hoped, it would be understood she hoped to avoid to much of the detail. She watched Technahumans passing with their partners tilting her head slightly. As the offices seem alive with workers at the moment.

Mathias should have been brimming with anger but if he was, no one on the outside could see it. He rarely showed emotion. Those privy to his occasional outburst would only be those who shared his bed and up until now, there had only been one. That one knew that if he ever told anyone about it, he would kill him immediately, as much as he was attached to the Techa.
Several VSF officers had been killed recently and it was only the police work of Damon Delatorre that lead him to the culprits. Unfortunately, they were untouchable. Drake had warned him away from starting an all out war with the Lycans. There were few enough humans already. It seemed like New Vegas was a Mutant magnet and that was getting on his nerves. At least the mutant protection society seemed to have it under control with registering them.
Mathias needed to find a way to attract more humans to the city. So far the influx had slowed and fewer and fewer humans arrived in the city. Maybe that was all of them. Maybe there just weren't anymore. The number of mutants, however made it difficult to manage the numbers. THe Vampires did not provide for non-registered, unemployed mutants so at least the supplies were not being filtered through that area of the city.
Mathias had been waiting for reinforcements for two weeks now. His force was becoming much to thin. Drake promised to transfer some officers from other cities that had a surplus. The first transfer was due two days ago. He received word when the caravan arrived early in the evening and was waiting patiently in his office, doing the paperwork he would have his new officer sign on arrival.
Not one to mince words, when the light knock came on the door jam of his open door, he merely held out his hand for her folder which she should be in possession of, without looking up. "You're late, officer..." he trailed off, waiting for her name.

Briella had heard that the Head was a man of few words and preferred things to the point. However, she did not know that she was late it shocked her slightly when he had said that. Really? A little angry now with her other head back home despite the fact that it had not been brought to her attention she needed to have been here way before her departure. As she entered she noticed he was not looking up, so she chose then to simply do the right thing take responsibility for the fault in her tardiness and not start off on the wrong foot or try to pass the buck closing the door gently and without being a bitch or snarky her voice was Mello, sultry and responsible. " I'm sorry Sir. It won't happen again." The folder was placed in his outstretched hand then as it was the only thing she could think he would be reaching for. " Valcorne, Briella Valcorne sir, From Chicago."
She would feel sorry for those that didn't come straight here after getting off the caravan, but it was their asses not her's if she could help it for now that would be in trouble for their tardiness. Her gaze shifted to the office then as she took in the stark surroundings. Her hand came up to brush back through her extreme brilliant red locks. Thoughts crossed her mind then of Lorcan, and a frown slipped upon her features for a fraction of a second before it disappeared. God, she missed him. Shaking it off, she glanced at the desk once more and stood silently. Resisting the urge to stretch at the moment as her body felt like it was still cramped up in the back of the transports.
She had noticed Techna's in the hall, and curiosity had peeked slightly. Actually worried that she would be stuck with one it was something she dreaded. The usual need for one back in Chicago had not been acquired before Lorcan's loss. Her arms crossed slightly at her chest as she waited for him to go over her papers. Knowing full well that the loss of her maker would be there. Dreading the possibilities that questions were coming she steeled herself for the answers she would only assume she needed to give. The passing moments and silence actually seemed to build a tension in the room as she finally had locked her gaze upon Mathias behind his desk her unblinking gaze glowed with the intensity of the blue of her eyes and the lights glare. She was there to work and to try to move on.

Short, disciplined and to the point; no whining or making excuses, just an apology; she took ownership of her mistake. Granted Mathias knew it was not all her fault. He knew the paperwork had taken an extensive amount of time to shuffle. If he did the math in his head, she was actually early compared to the rest of the replacements. The Chicago chief had dragged his feet, which Mathias reported to the King. That vampires position was not secure as it was, letting a worgen outbreak occur in his city. It was inexcusable. It looked like Chicago was going to be purged and it was the chief of Chicago’s VSF that was to blame.
Mathias opened the folder and scanned it silently. Her record was exemplary and flawless other than the events regarding her maker day walking. All Vampires knew that pain, unless they were an orphan, like Mathias but he knew if anything were to ever happen to the King, he would day walk himself. Drake had given him that bond, for which he had found purpose and meaning in his life. It kept him alive.
What this officer needed was responsibility. “Welcome to New Vegas Officer Valcorne.” He said flatly and signed her transfer papers. “You can collect your Techa down the corridor on the left. His name is Silas Palmer. I know I do not need to educate you on the importance of keeping him with you at all times and ensuring that he is here for his injections, daily.” He opened his file drawer and removed and envelope. “Here is the address to your flat, the keys are inside and some credits to get your through until payday, it should be more than enough to supply your home with furniture and whatever your Techa needs. Keep this one on a leash, Officer, he’s a hound. He tends to wander off…” that annoyed Mathias but the man came in handy for tracking down criminals. “Seal your bond before you leave the station so he will obey you if you call him off a trail. I don’t need to lose another techa this week…”
Mathias went back to what he was doing. After a moment he realized she was still standing there. He looked up at her, “Dismissed Officer.” He said without emotions. It was good to see such discipline in a new officer, it saved him the trouble of retraining her.

Briella had stood waiting for her orders, assignment. The chief in Chicago had been really lax to begin with and the worgen over running the streets had led to a lot of trouble. Briella looked for a responsible sensible leader, and she had heard that Mathias was nothing short of that. Though she was not prepared for his next statement. As he closed her folder and looked up to her with that welcome. She smiled. The full curve to her lips formed only to pop open in a surprised expression when he mentioned the Techa and flowed right into the fact that he was a hound and tended to roam off. OH freaking great... Her hand lifted to brush up through her hair, and though she wanted to scream a moment, her frustration and ask that she not be granted this kind of responsibility. Unsure if she was up for it after all, she blamed herself for her maker's death. She worried...could she handle this?
" Yes, Sir." With a nod, Seal her bond?! She felt a moment a little sick, and it had been years before she felt any kind of aversion only because she was worried she wouldn't be able to take this responsibility and let down Mathias and all the Vegas VSF. Straightening her back, she gathered the offered provisions and waited for her dismissal as he stopped talking and looked down. Finally, he dismissed her. " Thank you Sir." Turning on her heel she headed out of his office and followed the signs and directions he had given her towards the pick up for her techa.
As she paused outside a moment, she pulled out the information on her Techa and glanced over it. His picture was there the sudden responsibility hitting her as she stepped up to the guard and offered her claim. " I'm here for Silas Palmer." The guard smirked at her and shook his head.
"Good Luck with this one Your going to need it. "
Stepping in the guard motioned for her to step in and motioned to Silas. Moving in she nodded a smile and thank you as she turned to look at what she had been placed with. For a moment, she balked. He looked like the kind of man who was going to keep her busy. Trouble screamed from him. Finally gathering herself enough she approached Silas.
" Silas?" Tilting her head as those glittering blues studied him. Her crimson locks shifted over her features only to be pushed back with the move of her fingers. " I'm Briella, Your new partner." Never having a techa before of her own. She wasn't quite sure how this was going to work out. However, the smell of his blood enticed her enough to feel the throb of pressure to her fangs. God what did they do to him? Make him smell like honey and sunshine on purpose? Perhaps it was just her. Her hand was extended in greeting as she waited for his response.

Silas walked through the security station escorted by two guards, apparently there to keep him from catching a scent and running off. Silas knew that tonight he would become bonded to a vampire, then he would have to protect him or her with his life. He felt worried about being bonded to a complete stranger but he had been trained for it for a while now. Silas was led to a small room where he was promptly left as the other guards all left, leaving him to his own thoughts and problems.
Silas was worried as he sat waiting in the small room. Being locked in to stop him wandering after random scents again seemed pretty drastic to him, but who was he to complain? He wanted to make sure he did it right but what if he disliked the vampire? It would be a very awkward time if he didn't. He knew that there was parts of him missing though, he needed to be bonded, every techa did, they weren't complete weren't filling their role if they didn't. Sitting there he waited for what seemed like ages until finally the door opened. In stepped one of the guards who had escorted him to his "cell" and after him followed a vampire.
Silas looked straight past the guard and at the female vampire he was to be assigned to. She had pretty blue eyes that seemed to draw him in, it almost made him smile till he remembered to act professional. Silas watched her intently as she pushed her hair back, he finally heard her speak, "I'm Briella, Your new partner."
"Hello Briella, I'm Silas, as you already know." He shook her hand noticing how small she was but he knew that didn't mean much, she was still a vampire and probably a lot older than she looked. He wondered once again about the bond then looked back at her, looks like the bond won't be so bad after all he almost smiled again. Silas never looked at the other guard as he left, leaving the him alone with the vampire. Does that mean it was time for the bond to be created? He thought back to his training and what they had said about the bond, they had said it often led to other things, between the vampire and techa. He knew he'd be with this vampire for a long time and surprisingly he didn't really mind. Silas wiped at his mouth out of habit as he turned to pick up his helmet. He looked embarassed as he realised how bad his dribbling habit would look if he just started dribbling while watching her. Even though he had no interest in girls while growing up and definitely not whilst in training, he had to admit she was quite pretty, as he thought about this Silas did smile, to hell with my professional face, he thought.

Standing there Briella took the span of the moment to take him in, he was a little different than most other techas she had seen. Her eyes shifted to a brighter blue as the scent of him seemed to push at her. Had she screwed up already she felt like she should have eaten before this. What if she did something wrong. Turning back to ask the guard a question she blinked as he had already left the room. Seeing the door sliding shut and hearing it lock. A rogue lock of the crimson curls fell once again over her eye. A puff of breath seen as she exhaled still nervous. "Yes, I do. So Silas am I your first partner?" then she shook her head. "I'm sorry that was a stupid question, please don't answer that." Of course she was his first.
Tilting her head, she saw him wipe at his mouth, and her brow quirked. Wondering if something was already going wrong. Silently, she had moved quickly forward when he turned picking up his helmet. So that when he turned back around she was close. Her hands came up taking the helmet from him lightly and placing it back down. " Holding that might make this more difficult." Bond...bond that's all that kept thrumming in her mind along with the pulse of his heart that she could now feel her fangs throbbed along as if already they were poised over his carotid artery.
Unwittingly, her hand moved of its own accord coming up to brush along the side of his neck and check over his features. " Are you feeling unwell? Perhaps hot or anything I should know of?" It was a genuine worry that drifted over her features. God the responsibility for him was going to be insane. " AH so you do have more emotions than the stone-faced sentinels I see standing around and following after their partners. I like that..." Her eyes narrowed now as her thumb from her hand still rested on his neck absently brushed up and down stroking his flesh.
Briella knew she was stalling she was working up the nerve to do as was asked of her, but she worried that bonding him to her would be something he would hate. Oh well it didn't matter she didn't have a choice she had her orders, and she would follow them. Tongue slipped over her full heart shaped lips only to part as she fought to still the quickening nervousness of her breath. "Are you ready?"

Silas' smile widened as he heard her question, "Yes, you are my first partner ofcourse, am I yours?" He probably didn't want to know if she had a huge line of techa's that had died before he had turned up but still, the question had to be asked. He had been waiting months for his blood bond and now the time was finally upon him, he felt excited, nervous and happy. Her question had made him feel calmer, made him feel that she was more human, not just a cold killer looking for another mindless bodyguard to get killed.
Shock struck when she appeared up close but he didn't express it. He simply clamped his mouth shut so that it was impossible to dribble. It made sense when she took the helmet away, "oh, cheers.." He trailed off not really knowing what else to say, he had never been much of the social type, well, not that he knew what he was like in the past. He definitely was not much of a social person in the Techa academy, most of the female techa's there new that they would be bonded to male vampires after academy soon anyway so didn't bother much with relations. Silas had just been too anti-social to talk to anyone, but now he had to anyway. "Are you feeling unwell? Perhaps hot or anything I should know of?" He heard genuine concern in her voice and again that made him less nervous. Smile broadening at some of the responses he thought of, all of which were inappropriate, "Yes, I'm, erm, fine cheers.." Again he trailed off which embarassed him, making him go slightly red as he looked to the side for a few seconds to hide the light blush.
As her hand rested against his neck some of his nervousness came back and he bit at his lip, leaning his head to the side, he dribbled slightly but wiped it away, hopefully too quick for Briella to see. She smelt nice, he couldn't place the scent but he did his best to commit it to memory, despite the fact that the bond could always lead him to her it was good to have a back up. "Are you ready?" He looked down at her again smiling to assure her that he was.
"Readier than I'll ever be."

Shaking her head. " You are my first Techa, my partner before was my maker he is ... no longer with me." As he said cheers, she cracked a little and laughed softly. " As if I'm in a bar about to take a drink. OH but I miss the taste of a god Irish whiskey." For a moment, she did think of that it was a good memory one that eluded her still. Even then the perfect usually non telling sound of her voice didn't give away her heritage until then. The faintest hint of Irish brogue played in her voice but was gone instantly.
Able to tell his nervousness, she sighed." It is ok to talk to me. We will be with each other most of the time. Twenty-four hours a day usually. Please... be yourself. " As she did this time catch his drool a little, she had to smile as she started to pick up that this was one of his quirks. Every Techa had one this just happened to be what her's had. It seemed rather cute though and endearing almost like... god... what was it they were so old so long ago Then she grinned cause she knew but dared not share her thoughts.
Finally, she took the last step where her arm encircled his waist the other still upon his neck cradled the back of his head as she leaned in. Her body pressed against his lightly. Finally, her lips brushed over the very spot she had been brushing with her finger tips as she stilled herself for the usual erotic rush that came from such a moment. This close his scent overwhelmed her, and she quickly sank her teeth into his flesh.
The first rush of blood over her lips caused her to moan lightly against his flesh. He tasted like fresh fruit and honey. Things that reminded her of warm days brief glimpses of a past she had long forgotten. Taking the small taste from him her fingers tensed as she lathed her tongue over his after nicking her own tongue helping to seal the wound she had created. Gently, she would rub his flesh so that it didn't leave a wet spot, but a cool feeling where she had bitten him.
Leaning back slightly she pulled the zipper down on the front of her uniform. Baring the first hint of the upper swells of her breasts and exposing her neck. Her free hand shifting to her own throat now as her nails moved to draw a straight line over her own carotid artery. The first swell of blood formed. She tilted her head to the side. " Drink." Offering him her neck the ruby droplet starting to form and slide down her throat in a slow lazy trail. Her hand going to his head as she knew the repercussions of such a bond with him. It would only fuel the attraction.

"You are my first Techa, my partner before was my maker he is ... no longer with me" Silas looked at her and blinked, it was obviously a sad event for her, he had heard of the bond between a maker and child. "I am, sorry, for your loss." As she mentioned the Irish whiskey he laughed, he knew what she meant although to be honest he'd never had a proper Irish whiskey, he wasn't about to admit that. As he heard a slight Irish accent slip into her voice he smiled, it sounded pretty hot he had to admit. He was disappointed when she slipped back to her "normal" accent.
"Ok, I will be myself, if you will as well?" He smiled at the idea of being with her twenty four hours a day, it didn't sound too bad. As she stepped closer he closed his eyes and slipped his arms around her, glad he wasn't holding the helmet anymore. He moved his head further to the side, ready for the bite but not knowing what to expect. As she bit pain and pleasure intermingled and he let out a sigh, it felt good in everyway, it felt right. In a few seconds it was over and he gave out another sigh. As she stepped back he looked over her and moved closer as she cut herself. When she spoke he instantly moved to the small self-inflicted wound and began to suck at the blood, it felt warm, fulfilling, the effect was instantaneous. Instantly he felt not so empty anymore, another soul was with him, one he had to protect with his life no matter what. There was also pleasure, he didn't want to stop but knew he had to. After a few more seconds he stopped drinking and stepped back.
He was shocked as he looked at her again, she was even more beautiful, he stared at her for a few seconds then looked away, blushing again but he grinned. The blood made him feel powerful, like he could and would do anything for her. He heard the door behind them unlock and frowned, had they been watching? He didn't like that thought as he looked around the room for signs of any cameras.

If only he knew the depth of betrayal, she felt or sadness from the loss of her maker. She had no clue he had been up to what he had been up to, and then she had been left to fend for herself in this world. Though it wasn't hard the fact, she had trusted him made this moment even harder. She worried she wasn't going to be able to fully trust someone again. Evan as the bond was sealed, she knew the closer connection that was forming, but she pushed herself back some. Her desire to keep him close, for more bloomed, but it was deeply veiled behind her eyes.
As the moment started to come to an end, she had curled to him in an embrace holding him close to her. It was this one moment he would feel cared for completed, and then she was back to what Briella knew for the time. " I will be myself as best I can be. If not, It will only be a matter of time before I am. " The click of the lock and she frowned. She had known for a while, they had been watching it was something that couldn't be avoided; they had to ensure that she had created the bond before she was allowed to take the Techa out into the world with her.
"Alright gather your things we need to gather mine still as well then we can go and secure our place. " Her gaze shifted to the guard who had stepped in and nodded to her. She said nothing only smiled and took a few steps towards the door. She couldn't wait to get out of here already she felt as if she was boxed in and unable to breathe this moment the bonding had pushed her boundaries more than she thought it would in the moments that had started it.
Finally, he was taking a bit longer than she wanted twitchy with the desire for a shower and to be in their own privacy, she reached back and seized his hand. Grabbing some of his things with her other. " Come on." Pulling him out past the guard pausing to seize her one lone duffle as well. Tiny but she clearly was deceiving with the ease and carefree way she was lugging bags that would have taken most human women her size forever to even move ten feet.
