Posting order: If a week goes by without a post, even with an away notice, next person please post.
Dustan Alexia Ariana Jericho Jorge Nikolas Sullivan YOU?
Niko could see the colors of the horizon turning red and purple. It was dangerous to make the trek at night but they had to approach the city just before sunrise just in case a battle ensued. The sun would be a valuable ally even if the VSF could be in the sun with the sun suits, there were only so many to go around. Very few of the most powerful Vampires would be on the force with Mathias. Mathias would be a difficult opponent and he knew many would fall by his hand but not before Thor gave the order.
Niko had a hard time thinking that Thor actually said no. But the memo that had been returned to him did not come from a higher authority. It seemed to have come from some office lackey who took in upon himself to choose the fate of his people. That was unacceptable. He would demand and audience with Thor and if he didn't respond then his people would move in and break into the warehouse that held the vaccine and take it. It would be difficult and battle was sure to arise and many people would be lost but it was something that had to be done.
There was a lot of stress and guilt over people dying because he ordered the attack but it had to be done for the children, for the freedom of the settlement. The only place for them to go if the town was devastated was into the city for refuge and that went against everything they believed it. He had built the town to three times that of what it was when he was born and he was not going to let it go without a fight. He knew that most of his people would rather die than take refuge in the city and he was one of them.
Niko was snapped out of his thoughtful revelry by a sound in the distance. It was dark enough now that he could not see unless there was a light source and that was not something he would be priveleged to out there. The only light he could see was the dim glow of the city in the far distance. His horse came to a stop and he heard guns being cocked and hasty whispered demanding silence. He listened, frozen and slightly worried about the fact that he could not see in the dark. But his generals were circling around him and Jorge's horse moved up snug against his. He was ready if he needed to be pulled off his horse and lead to cover.
Niko heard the silent clicks and hisses that were a communication between his men so he knew something was out there, but what, he could not know. That was left up to his people to deal with. His job would come later when it was time to negotiate. He heard the shuffling and a low moan and knew what it was they were up against. Just how many zombies there were, was still unknown to him.

Sully gazed out into the desert haze as the horses all fell in line and began moving as one in the direction of the bustling city of New Vegas. He marveled as he often did at the scenery surrounding them. The desert is an integrated region of natural wonders beyond comprehension, it holds a perfect and natural balance between lifelessness and living vibrancy.
Nothing can equal the desert with its wide plains, its sharp, jutting, rocky red mountains, and its expanding pure cobalt blue, cloudless sky over a broad expanse of golden sand, pale green sage grasses and daunting cactus. One can never see elsewhere as as in the desert the dome, the pinnacle, the minaret fretted with golden fire and splashes of brilliant purples and reds at sunrise and sunset; you shall never see elsewhere as here the sunset valleys swimming in a pink and lilac haze, the great mesas and plateaus fading into a blue distance, the gorges and canyons banked full of purple shadow. Nor shall you see such light and air and color; never such opaline mirage, such rosy dawn, such fiery twilight. And wherever you go, you shall not forget that which you saw not but rather felt; the desolation and the silence of the desert...
Despite its clarity and simplicity, however, the desert wears at the same time, paradoxically, a veil of mystery. Motionless and silent it evokes in us an elusive hint of something unknown, something unknowable, about to be revealed. Since the desert does not act it seems to be waiting; but waiting for what?
Perhaps that question was only waiting to be answered before the desert would give up its secret. He seemed to hear the shuffling, scuffing noises at the same time as the others who were like him; stronger, faster, healthier. He moved his horse up, boxing Jorge in, next to the Admiral and signaling for him to stop. He seemed to have already heard it as well. He knew Jorge would need a buffer if the Admiral's horse spooked, they could not risk him falling and acquiring another head injury.
"We got walkers!" he barked as he signaled the stop. He pulled his gun and aimed it in the direction of the scuffling moans.

Dustan didn't hear the walkers until his attention was brought to them. He knew some of the humans in Haven were more 'attuned' to sites and sounds than others were. Dustan was attuned to the desert, no doubt about that, but some of the men and women seemed a bit taller, stronger and faster than others with little effort to become so. But Dustan had secrets of his own so he was not about to go poking his nose where it didn't belong.
Dustan moved up and over, his hand resting on the hallow gold hilt of his dagger. "You're clear behind Jorge, move him back." he called out calmly. "Jorge has you Admiral." he added so the Admiral knew he was safe at the moment. While this little dramatic even could have caused utter chaos, the men were all well trained and moved with swiftness and precision to get into position. Dustan hanged back to make sure Jorge got the Admiral to safety. He noticed Justice and Max had moved between Jorge and the admiral as well as Sully.
This should go down swiftly and without the Admiral ever being in danger. He was key to this whole adventure. He was the speaker, the oral narrator in the story of Haven. All hope for Haven and the secrets Dustan kept beneath it fell on that man's shoulder. As if the people of Haven were not enough of a burden to bear, if he knew what lay beneath the settlement... Dustan would never tell him.

Alexia had fallen into a place to guard over the people heading towards the city of New Vegas one she had heard quite a bit about before all of this had taken place. She kept her weapon at the ready her horses steady plodding pace keeping time with the others while she scouted a job, she was use to from her old caravan. She knew the dangers that lay in the desert and prepared for the coming troubles they would have to face. It was when the line of men started to slow that she made out the shapes, in the distance, the slow shuffling of feet. The moans and rasps of dried throats that long ago forgot how to speak. All they knew were hunger and all they wanted were flesh of the living.
Alexia moved up pulling an arrow from the quiver of her bow. Her shoulders set strong and tense as she knocked the arrow against the wood with a soundless whisper of ease and pulled the string taunt. Her eyes settled on the first of her targets as the others had started to box in and shield the admiral. Her gaze noted the location of Dustan as well and made a point to keep him in her sites. All the men who were important to the settlement were now on her mind to keep guarded and protected. With bated breath and calm of her training she waited for the order to start preparing to dispatch of the zombies that had started a slow shamble as they milled about.
Alexia knew not of secrets that lay beneath the settlement; she didn't know the ties that held half of the men and women together, but she did find a point to hold them all as treasured members of Haven that would need to be returned home to their loved ones. Her fingers shifted curled to the bow as she still awaited the order hoping that they would be able to easily dispatch this quarry without too much trouble and continue their way. She knew death awaited some of them. She just hoped not yet.

DUE TO INACTIVITY AND SEEMINGLY DISINTEREST IN THE SITE PLOT, I AM FINISHING IT NOW....
The zombies were dispatched without mercy once it was discovered that there were only six. These days the zombies were looking more and more decayed. At least that was something. Soon they would be too decayed to move about at all.
The group moved toward New Vegas until they reached the appointed rendezvous around 3 o'clock in the morning. Max moved away from the group and seemingly disappeared into the environment. The other soldiers chalked it up to good camoflauge training, when if fact his body and clothing had 'become' part of the desert terrain. It was not difficult for him to sneak into the city. From there he went to his usual place to contact Thor. The code words, spoken into the rotary phone at Gran's set up a series of events including Max taking the food Ruby offered him and taking off at the door. He had 6 minutes to get to the pickup location.
Niko knew he had been a spy for Thor after Max went to him with a full confession. Now it is Niko who supplies Thor with what information he thinks will benefit his little colony through Max. He uses that to his advantage.
An hour later, Max reappeared at the camp and lights lit up the top of the wall of the City. Thor and Mathias stood there looking down. A very nervous Tech stood sweating next to Mathias but Niko couldn't see them. Justice was quick to point them out and tell him which direction to look. It would not be good for them to know the commanders vision had been compromised.
Negotiations began and Thor was surprized to hear that medicine was needed and that they had been denied. Thor agreed to supply them with the medicine and the vaccines needed to keep the rest of them from getting it. Niko's head had inadvertantly turned toward Mathias when he let one corner of his mouth turn up and nodded a thank you.
Suddenly a growl tore through the air. "How dare you look at him like that?!!!" the nervously sweating Techa shouted. Suddenly he was in the air, diving down at Niko. "Ryan no!" Mathias shouted but it was too late. It is uncertain exactly who made the killing shot, perhaps it was the combination of every man's weapon going off at once. The Techa dropped like a sack of potatoes. Those watching would see Mathias himself with his guns out, having defended the general as well. Thor was waving his arms and shouting, "Cease fire!" at his men who immediately stood down. Another Techa with sunbleached blond hair stepped in next to Mathias and one would swear the ancient vampire/witch was smiling in his eyes.
Medicine and other supplies to nurse the sick back to health were given to the Havenites to take back home, including vitamin supplements, blankets and childrens winter clothing to help get them through the cold season. The Havenites took their supplies with a note of thanks and returned home to Haven, victorious with only one life lost, and it wasn't one of Havens own.
