Playby: Emily Osment
Name:Ava Harper
Age:17
Sex:female
Sexual Orientation: heterosexual
Physical Description:Ava has a tall, willowy figure with wavy golden blonde hair. She has deep forest-green eyes that have a lot of depth, although they always seem distant. Her skin is slightly blotchy, with blemishes here and there. Her teeth are a bit crooked, but very white. There's a scar running from the middle of her right shoulder to just above her heart.
Attitude:Ava is...odd. She sees the devastation around her and tries to be helpful, but her mind gets away from her. Daydreams seem to control her life. She keeps a journal that is unusually upbeat, considering her circumstances. She's as curious as the day is long. She's constantly venturing out alone. While she always feels bad after the fact (usually when someone is scolding her for it) she just can't seem to stay still. In her darker moments, she feels completely out-of-place. More than once she's thought about running to the city, to see if there's a better life there.
Abilities: Ava is extremely intelligent. When it comes to arguing, her logic is infallible. She's learned many different trades and, when she has her head about her, is excellent when it comes to talking with new people. However, she is a bit spacey at times, zoning out and wandering away when it's not safe. She's particularly good at nursing people back to health, but doesn't have much strength for hard labor.
History:Ava was born to Henri and Bianca Harper as the youngest of 5 children. The family was well known in The Haven for being hardworkers. Her earliest memories are of watching her father walk out the door before the sun had risen and stumbling home long after it had set. Her 3 brothers were no different. Her sister was often ill, but was excellent with household work. From an early age Ava was out with her mother, tending to others in need. When she was a bit older, she began working in the fields, though it became obvious very quickly it was not a good job for her. Often she'd daydream and forget what she was doing or wander too far away.
That curiosity got the better of her when she was 14. While working in the fields (the last time she worked in the fields) she'd wandered so far away and was so busy with her daydream she didn't hear the alarm for a zombie attack. She didn't even realize anything negative was happening until she smelled the stench of the walking dead. The zombie, in an attempt to grab her, made a gash from the middle of her right shoulder to just over her heart. Fortunately, her brothers realized where she was and saved her before the zombie could finish her off. Several months of recovery later, it was agreed she could not be allowed to help in the fields anymore. So she returned to making house calls with her mother. She caught on very quickly and was soon nursing people on her own. But, despite everything, she still wandered out. At age 16, she began wondering about the city. In her mind she started making plans to go there, although she has yet to enact any of those.

Rp Sample: Ava laid in her bed, staring up at the ceiling. She watched as the shadows danced across the ceiling. She giggled. It must be so nice to dance on the ceiling. Whether this thought was the product of exhaustion or the strange recesses of her mind where such strange thoughts lurked was anyone's guess. She glanced over at her sister. As usual, Naomi was sleeping soundly. Only 2 years older than Ava herself, yet there was a promise ring on her hand. The match was a well-liked one. "Good, strong, hardworking children will come from that family." Her father had said.
Because that was what was cherished here. Strong workers, willing todo nothing but work in the fields and fight off zombies. She sighed quietly, careful not to wake Naomi. The older girl did not like staying up late to think. Though Ava couldn't see why. At night, the world became a different place. Things that looked normal and harmles in the sunlight, took on a twisted, dangerous appearance when the moon came out to play. It was as if two worlds were inhabiting one planet. As usual, her mind took that idea down a happy little bunny trail. She thought of the cities. She'd heard about them. Controlled by vampires. Supposedly, humans were their slaves, doing all their work. But isn't that what we're doing here? She thought to herself.
This wasn't the first time she'd considered The Haven a work camp. All they cared about was surviving. There was no time for thinking or creating. Unless you were creating something practical. "But I'm not practical." She whispered into the empty air. Naomi muttered in her sleep. Ava's mouth clamped shut. In her mind, she repeated the phrase. I'm not practical. And then continued. People here care about practicality. How can they care about me? Her parents swore she was precious to them, but she saw the strain her strange ways put on them. The way they endured looks from the neighbors when she spent the afternoon spinning in circles just to see how long she could go before she fell over. She knew the way they whispered about her. "Something's off about that girl...Not right in the head....Pity, the family has to take care of her...Must be such a burden..." Her eyelids started sliding down. She imagined they were being pulled by the weight of the other's judgement. One last thought ran through her mind before she let herself slip into the darkness.
If they don't care about me...would they care if I left?
