The breeze was nice; it felt right even in the midst of all this wrong. Looking over her railing and below at the scurry of people rushing to get to the next location looked almost surreal, how could they still be headed so confidently to their respective places, didn’t they know? Didn’t they know that no matter how hard they worked they would never be anything more then specks on the radars of the truly powerful important beings, the vampires? Where this bitterness was coming from? She had felt it rising in her like bile begging to be purged, the sick feeling of her own insignificance. She didn’t like feeling this way, but how could she go back to her days of ignorance? She had seen it, with her own eyes. Claire had always been like a mother to Lilly ever since she took her in all those years ago, gave her a job in the diner, hid her from the VSF. She had always paid her dues, never broke their laws other then hiding young Lilly, and yet that one souvenir had left her broken stripped of her dignity, it had made her a slave. It was such a stupid trinket, a pair of off white plastic fangs predating the apocalypse by a few years. Claire had traded it off of a refugee from outside the walls: She often traded, bought, and sold things with refugees always bringing home all sorts of foreign treasures. Lilly remembered the day Claire had brought the chunk of plastic to her as a toy, She would prance around her room with the apparatus in her mouth slobbering and lisping her words, she imagined she was one of them, a vampire. Yes when she was younger the race of vampires held her in a fascinated starry eyed awe, they were better. That was what she had been taught and told all her life, they were just better in every way, and without them humans would be nothing. No. The cloud of mysticism had been raised and for the first time she had seen the truth. Upset as she was Lilly did not have time to to grieve for Claire or Ruby who had been a mess the last few days. It was time to start work. Lilly usually worked evenings which suited her fine, she had always had an affinity for the night, it had always suited her better but perhaps that was because she had matched her own sleep cycles to Ruby who had an aversion to sunlight. Getting dressed for work was a simple enough but somehow with the cloud of grief hovering over her it seemed more tedious than normal. A simple fitted long sleeve black shirt matched with sleek dark washed skinny jeans and a pair of simple black lace up tennis shoes. To finish off her simple utilitarian look she tied her hair tightly back in a large messy bun at the nape of her neck. After grabbing her keys and jacket Lilly took one last look over her flat, and finally left for Freemont street and the Valhalla. .............................................................. Lilly had a rule about drinking while working the bar, but tonight she made an exception as she threw back a shot of Vodka while crouching behind the counter. Her muscles tensed as the powerful liquid made it's way down her throat warming a trail as it slid. Luckily The casino wasn't overly busy and as such there was only a few people lingering at the bar, two usual's and a couple as well as an older man she had not seen before but whom appeared to be of the vampirian variety. Popping her head back from behind the bar Lilly put on the brightest smile she could manage. "Drinks anyone?"

Adam had cleaned himself up and been out working hard on finding that job he had promised Lizard he would find. In between searching for something that would make him legit instead of the hustler he was. He might have gotten a little distracted in some back alleys with a couple of games of dice. Taking his time betting a little here winning a lot there. He only just slipped out before the game had been busted up by some of the casino's security crew that they had been hiding behind. Happy to have a little cash in his pocket. Just another night and another nice payday. He didn't often go into the bigger casinos, but tonight it was in order to treat himself to a little drink. He was pretty sure that Lizard was at home where she was supposed to be and where she said she would be. He trusted her. Just the thought of his kid sister becoming the young woman she was becoming gave him an instant panic attack moment, and he slipped into the first doors he could. Passing security keeping his head down and being careful he headed towards the bar. As he passed he started to realize that he didn't quite fit in and started to adjust his shirt and pants. Trying to straighten himself out a little and clean himself up. Dark hair was cut close to his head but not to close. He was sporting a five o'clock shadow. Brilliant blue eyes were hidden in the sun tanned features of his face. The night had been nice so his over shirt hung open. A white tank top resting beneath clinging to his well toned and trim chest. Jeans actually fit nicely and accented his athletic build. His ensemble ending in the usual black boots he wore. Sliding up onto a stool he looked around to try and find the bartender. Standing up with a lien over the bar, he spied her tossing back a shot of Vodka while crouched behind the bar. A mischievous smirk played upon his face.
He noticed that she had not seemed to realize he was there as she had been taking that shot and shook his head. Waiting for her to think she got away with it, he leaned a little towards her and spoke. " Mind if I ask what would make someone as lovely as you sneak a drink tonight? It's not already been that bad of a day has it?" That boyish grin sitting on his face while he started to fiddle with a napkin from the bar counter. Clearly, he couldn't sit still a little fidgety now that he started to take in the other patrons of the bar as well. He may not be able to stay long, but he would enjoy himself, a drink and the beautiful scenery that seemed to come with it. Yes, he was brazened in the way he let his gaze slide over her. Taking in every detail of her the simple fitted dark shirt, her dark wash skinny jeans and last but not least those black laced up tennis shoes. She was beautiful for the simplicity to her ensemble and the haphazard way her hair had been pulled up actually intrigued him. He sat there staring at her that boyish grin never once left his features. A twinkle of mischief and intrigue danced through his gaze all while it stayed locked on her. Ripping a piece of a napkin off the one he toyed with and rolling it into a ball. He started making a pile of these before him. His curiosity getting the better of him, he couldn't resist. "Think I could get one of those shots you just had to?" He reached into his pocket to retrieve a little of the credits he had and making sure to tell himself not too much. Lizzy would kill him if he put them in a bind, and he had to go out again. He wasn't sure he should even tell her he had pulled through the work he did today. Hell he probably should have been home hours ago. The more he thought about Lizzy growing up lately the longer he has felt the anxiety coming on that he wasn't going to be able to protect her that he would fail, and he was in need of this distraction. He was on one of his streaks of sleeplessness as of late. There were days he couldn't help but sleep through the exhaustion from his insomnia kicking his body's ass and putting him out whether he wanted it to or not. The rest of the time he was up with nothing more than his thoughts.

A line of goose bumps made their way up Lilly’s spine as the voice registered in her mind. She knew it was unprofessional yet she had still tried to drown her worries in the middle of working. She turned to face the origin of the inquiry, a tall and dare she think it 'strapping' stranger. He had a sort of rugged charm that oozed 'real man'. But it was not his outward appearance that Lilly lingered on a second too long. It was the confident air around him, the feel of someone who knew they were something more than average, something special. Helping Claire in the diner and the Valhalla had given her more than enough experience playing off awkward situations and calming down heated situations and so it was like second nature to pass off the whole situation.
"No actually the nights been pretty excellent, I was just doing a little product testing, we never want to give our Valhalla patrons anything less than superb."
It sounded like utter bullshit even to her own ears but to sell the whole story she flashed him her best smile. That was one thing Lilly was really good at giving big bright people pleasing smile even if it did not match exactly what she felt inside. At his request for a drink to match her own she pulled out a large half gallon bottle from beneath the bar along with a bullet shot. The bottle held a clear liquid with no label; it was vodka but a potent mix with the taste and consistency of lighter fluid. She usually used it to mix drinks seeing as the usual patron found it almost unbearable to take straight, although she had been conditioned to the taste of alcohol. Pouring the shot to the rim she handed him his drink but instead of moving on down the bar she stayed to watch him curiously, mainly to see if he could actually keep the foul liquid down.

His gaze slid over her form as he thought to himself curiously what it would be like to touch her. Her skin seemed soft and for a moment, he felt that heat rush through his blood. God he needed that drink the poor woman didn't need his sex addled brain thinking of things he would do to her if he could get her away from the bar. Shaking his head a little with a laugh as she spoke he lifted his bright blue eyes to her. " I don't buy that answer for a minute, but I'll be nice and let you pass this time." Giving her a wink and not wanting to pressure her if she didn't want to talk. "But you know if you feel the need to get something off your chest. I'm all ears." Leaning a little more over the bar just to be a little closer. He took in the faintest hint of her scent trying to place it. She made him think of spring fresh flowers and rain. Some of the things he loved from the park.
When she pulled out that large half gallon, though she had his attention fully. Watching the drink filled to the rim, he licked his lips a little. No he wasn't an alcoholic, but that drink was something he really needed. Sliding payment towards her before taking the glass, he lifted it eyeing the clear no label liquid. " Here goes nothing." He didn't think about it but tossed the drink back. It burned HOLY HELL! It burned. He struggled to keep the drink down and not go into a coughing fit. His hand lifted rubbing over his chest as the burn descended to his stomach. A light cough escaped, and his hand kept rubbing his chest. What the hell was that stuff? Blinking a little to keep his eyes from watering up to bad he cleared his throat and pushed the now empty glass back. Keeping his fingers on it. He didn't want to leave yet. Noticing that she stayed watching him. "I'm Adam...What's your name?"

It had been a rough week working with the construction crew, Belinda was ready for a bit of a break. She was still feeling a bit bummed that Skins had been closed down and Hugo had been snatched up by the VSF. Sucked. He'd been really sweet, though a huge flirt and tease. It wasn't like she worked long for him. But still missed the second job any way.
Feeling a bit like doing something out of the ordinary she made her way into town and ended up at the Valhalla. It was a huge place. She walked through the open floor plan and marveled a little at the dramatic architecture. Good architecture always caught her eye. This place was famous for it's water displays as well as a botanical garden that rivaled all others. Her mother and father had often come down to stroll about and do a little bit of gambling. Who lived in New Vegas and didn't gamble at least once in a while. She thought with an amused chuckle.
Feeling a bit lucky herself she ambled slowly into the area where the casino floor was filled with a myriad collection of gambling machines. The music of each one blended in a harmony that beckoned like a sirens song. Luring the weary and tired to rest and spend hard earned credits for a chance at luck.
She began playing and was soon engrossed as the wheels kept spinning and spitting out coins. As the last of her little pile soon grew smaller and smaller. Belinda removed herself from the machine and started for the bar. Who knew playing a slot machine would make one so thirsty.
Smiling she moved aside for a couple lost to the world as they walked hand and hand. Love it wasn't for the faint of heart. She was content to be on her own however long that it lasted. Grinning now that the happy couple moved away from her. She watched them for a moment longer before continuing on to the bar. It wasn't to crowded at the moment. Sitting on one of the empty bar stools she waited till the bartender had a moment free to come take her order.

Adam still felt the burn from the liquid the bartender had set before him. Occasionally, he let out a little cough and tapped his chest lightly. It burned, but it feels good at the moment too. He had stared back at the bartender for a while until she seemed to have disappeared off down the bar to tend to someone else. He frowned a little anticlimactic disappearance for his taste at the moment. With an actual drink before him now he settled in to savor the one drink as he knew if he got anymore Lizzy would kill him for wasting their money. For the longest time, he sat there just staring off into space minding his own business for the moment. His fingers drumming on the counter along to the music. It was better, for the moment, than his uncontrollable desire to slip into the bigger area out front and see if he couldn't get a few rounds at one of the craps tables.
Smiling to himself as if he had his own little comedy show going, for the moment, in his head, he lifted the glass of his drink to his lips and downed a bit more of the beer. It was good to have a few moments where his mind wasn't flying at the speed of light over his sister, and what he would do and needed to do for her and himself. The fact that he felt he was watching her grow up way to fast seem to baffle him entirely. Rubbing his hands on his face he finally let out a sigh and glanced to his side seeing another woman enter and settle down the bar a little way from him. He noticed the tender was pretty busy and would get to her eventually. Lifting his glass to her in a salute he smiled and drank simply watching her, for the moment. She was a pretty change of scenery.

It wasn't a long wait before she was helped and her beer was placed in front of her. It was cold and refreshing as always. Perhaps it wasn't a girly girl drink. She could care less. Working along side her father and other construction workers, she'd developed a fondness for the yeasty brew. Nothing was better after a long day of work or soothed a parched throat better, to her way of thinking. The coughing of another patron drew her attention. Her lips formed a little half smile as she noted the glass in front of him. He must have went for the good stuff.
She shifted in her chair letting it swing from side to side. It was hard to resist the lure of a swiveling chair. She saw his salute and returned it with one of her own. It was a simple friendly gesture. Belinda slid gracefully from her seat and made her way over. She was feeling social, no harm in making a new friend. Specially no harm if he was particularly handsome as this stranger was. Beer in hand she slipped up onto the seat next to him. "Hello. Though you might like some company being as your sitting over here all by yourself.. You are by yourself aren't you.?" she asked suddenly realizing that she'd just totally could have placed herself in a hell of an awkward situation.
OK so she was impulsive, well maybe it wasn't impulse so much as it was her own loneliness that drove her to take a bold step. "I'm Belinda. Even if your not. By yourself that is. Just don't let her beat me up." She added. Maybe that sounded a little corny, she just didn't want to poach on another woman's territory. Working a short while for Skins though gave her a little more insight into people in general. He didn't seem the type to be sitting alone at the bar if he had a woman. She took a sip of beer and watched him over the rim of her glass.

Adam slowly worked that drink before him down with another tilt of his glass. His brow arched over his bright blue eyes as the woman he had saluted slid down to a stool next to him at the bar. He watched her closely letting his gaze slide over her curves. Damn shame she was by herself, it appeared. Smiling his boyish charm seeping through he shook his head at her with a laugh. " I'm alone. I was just chatting with the tender before, but she's a little busy." Glancing to see if he saw the tender but not seeing her. His hand shifted from the glass and moved to the thighs of his jeans rubbing off the nervous feeling and condensation from his drink.
He would turn towards her just watching her a moment. Wondering silently if he wasn't having a case of the beer goggles at present. When she got closer she was really pretty, Adam had a weird moment of wondering what it was like to be the stool she was sitting in. As he shook his head with a laugh he nodded. "No worries I'd protect you, even if I wasn't alone." Winking to her as he motioned for a refill for himself forgetting that he should have stopped on the last one. Then adding chips down to buy her another round as well. " I'm Adam. It's nice to meet you Belinda." His hand shifted up to run over his hair in a shy kind of way as he turned down his usual dominance for a moment approaching Belinda completely differently just for a moment feeling out her personality before he let more of his own show through.
What she said wasn't really corny at least not to Adam, he thought it was sexy and forth coming he marked it in his book that he liked approachable fiery women. Keeping his eyes locked on hers as she sipped from her beer and stared at him over the rim of the glass. "Are you alone? On the other hand, am I going to have to worry about some Herculean dude coming out of no where and trying to take off my head cause, I'm enjoying his view as well as his woman's company?" Turning in the stool slightly so that his body language showed she had his full attention as he blocked out other people to the opposite side of him and only watched her.

She paused mid sip as he mentioned protecting her and her brow shot up. Hazel eyes drank all of him in as much as she had her drink. Sure. He was built, but nothing like the rough necks she was used to. It was sweet. "Really?" she uttered, slightly disbelieving that he would do that for a complete stranger no less. His following wink had her chuckle. A deep rusty sort of sound. That came from the deep within. It was not that she never laughed. Her days were to full of work and keeping ahead of the game that she often forgot simply to enjoy them. When he mentioned some Herculean dude she bobbled her glass as a gale of laughter tripped from her lips. Her eyes bright with mirth. Belinda's body shook with helpless chuckles for a moment until she could contain her laughter. "Oh my goodness" She gasped slightly breathless. It did not matter that heads turned to see what was going on. She could care less. It was just so funny to her. Belinda had not gone out on a date in forever. Her mother was fretting that she would never meet the right man if she could not take a little time to go out. Adam may not know why she found this so very funny, but she just did not seem to be able to help herself. Perhaps her mother was right after all and she needed to get out more. She was really glad that she had decided to come out tonight.
"I'm so sorry. I do not mean to be rude, laughing. No. I do not often have time to go out. I am not one for Herculean types anyway.. too much brawn and not enough brain." She quipped with a grin. Since she had gotten herself back under control, Belinda took up her glass again and drained her drink. Needing the subtle comfort the amber liquid could give. Her glass was refilled and she nodded her thanks to the bar tender. Taking it back up she tipped it in his direction, " Well then Adam Sláinte." Before tipping it back and taking a healthy sip.

Adam has several weaknesses, she at the moment is one of them. With curves in all the right places and her voice was intoxicating. He liked the sound of her laugh it made him hungry for more. Nodding he grinned. " Oh certainly I would. I hate thinking of a damsel in distress." Shifting in his seat as best he could he let his leg brush against her own enjoying the thrill that ran up his thigh and settled in his groin. " What? He's behind me isn't he?" Jerking playfully to look behind himself like he thought there was a big guy going to beat him up for her. Knowing he was goofing around he laughed at himself and turned back. "I like the sound of your voice."Nodding to her as she laughed and said Oh my goodness It had been a while since Adam enjoyed the pleasures of a woman, he was usually all caught up in protecting and defending himself and Lizzy that to meet one that he could see outside of that my kid sister view had him addicted willing to roll his dice and see where they might fall in this moment.
He didn't mind that she was laughing, he found it sexy as hell and wondered what else he could do to get more sounds out of her. He teased playfully putting his head down on the bar." Damn and I was so looking forward to having my ass kicked too. I was going to play it up and see if you would take care of me. What will I do now?" Laughing he lifted his head and glanced over to her straightening up. " It's truthfully a relief to know I have you all to myself, for the moment." Looking around them, he actually got a little nervous then losing a little of his bravado. Nodding he lifted his glass up to her own again and when she spoke that last word in the salute of her drink, he arched his brow. " What language is that?" He heard some things but that one was new to him. His hands went to the thighs of his jeans giving them a little push, pull, and tug action. The bar stool was starting to be uncomfortable in the current position he was in.
Glancing about the bar, he spotted a few vampires and other patrons but none that seemed too interested in them so far. It was a relief as he put his guard down just a little. " So Why do you not often have time to go out? " Curious to know more about her, he started up the rather lazy motions of getting to know the women that sat before him.

OK it was possible that her cheek muscles were out of shape. Either that or she had not laughed in such a long time that they had become frozen or something. The brush of his leg against her own had her smile just a wee bit more. Flirting. She could do this, she thought to herself as she took another sip. He was a bit of a goof and that was refreshing. The few men she knew well enough were every bit as serious as she was. Well the one foreman that relieved her father was not so bad. He had a decent smile and a very protective lover.
"Watch it Adam to many compliments like that, will go to my head." She told him with a little grin, flirting back.
She could only shake her head as he continued about her non existent herculean dude. "Unless you can be welded back together, I do not think you would want me nursing you back to health. Your not a machine man are you?"
Belinda picked up on his scan of the room and glanced about herself. Everything looked normal enough. To her.
"Oh. Sláinte? It's Irish. Long standing tradition of my family. My Da and mum speak it at home. It's not common what with everything that happen. It was a toast to your health" She told him and fiddled with the rim of her glass just a little.
"Well, I work with the construction crew. Welder by trade. My Da taught me. With all the new buildings being retrofitted were always busy. You?" She asked, hoping to keep the conversation going. It really was very nice to be able to talk with someone near enough her age. Belinda finished off her drink and signaled for another round thinking nothing of it. Talking with Adam was so much better then losing a few extra coins to the casino. She did not want it to end to soon.

His gaze trailed over her form slowly for a moment when he thought she wasn't looking too closely. Appreciating the work of beauty before him. It was hard not to love women when they were as beautiful as this one. Frowning a little as she told him to watch it he gave her a playful pout. " I think it needs to. You don't seem to realize just how attractive you are." He was careful, though he didn't know when someone would show up and throw a monkey wrench in the program. There was always that chance. He was truly trying to keep a straight face with his next comment as cheesy as it might be he just seriously enjoyed hearing her laugh and was sure this one might have her chuckled. "Is that what they call it nowadays? Well, darling you can weld me any day." Wiggling his brow at her. Finally kicking his goofy side, he laughed some. " Ahh I'm sorry I'm not very good at this picking up a girl thing. I seem to be out of practice."
Glancing to the way she fiddled with the rim of her glass. For a moment, he had a wicked thought and was half tempted to cause the glass to tilt and spill on her. He could take advantage of it a little but no. He behaved himself it was really hard though. Finishing his own drink, he set the empty glass on the bar and shifted his hand reached out to brush against her toying finger tips to the glass and retrieve her glass before the tender could retrieve it. " You want another? Furthermore, if you want we can move to a booth." He nodded to a free one as he started to stand. " That way we can enjoy the night. I haven't been out in a while. You say you don't get out enough, and well. I think that's a wrong that should be righted." Motioning to the waitress to get more drinks. Nagging his mind he knew Lizzy was going to kill him, but he just couldn't walk away right now.
"Intriguing a woman who works construction. I find that exciting and even a little hot. " He paused his face getting a distant look as he daydreamed a moment. " Oh yea... that's a very hot mental image." Shaking his head, he blushed a little. " I am in between at the moment. I um I like to gamble occasionally. " He felt like an ass as he said it, but he didn't feel like lying to her. " I am a guard for someone." Well, that wasn't to far of a stretch, he did guard someone his sister Lizzy counted to him deeply. " Let me buy you dinner as well?" Oh you bet Adam was going to turn this into a date if he could. He was growing more and more intrigued with the woman before him, and he kept silently praying that she wasn't someone's property or blood slave.
"So you weld, you speak Irish. Anything you are bad at? Or don't like?" standing there waiting to see if she would take his offer of a drink and dinner.

Stealing another glance around the bar, Belinda noted that it was becoming less crowded. She could feel Adam's eye upon her again and it was not a bad thing at all. Nothing like when she danced on the stage. This was much better to her way of thinking. Much better. Her skin warmed under his bold flattery. This was something a girl could get used to. "Thank you" she told him. Her voice soft with a little hint of shyness.
She did a double take and blinked really slow at the words that came out of his mouth next. He was outrageous. Keeping up the beat though she smiled. "Well I do have the tools" She quipped saucily with a flirtatious wink.
It was so easy this banter. Being with someone that made her laugh, she realized what she had been missing by shutting herself off and getting to wrapped up in work and work alone. Her eyes swept over him and wondered for the first time why she would not come out sooner. He was handsome. Defiantly Human. and not a Vampire. He did not have that pale quietness that they had. Though she had met only a few they left and impression.
"Perhaps we should practice together then, humm" She offered and leaned in a little closer. His fingers brushed against hers and it stilled her own hands. They were warm and smooth over her own coarse skin. Bigger then her own slender fingers as well. Day in and day out working with steel and lumber had not given her soft hands. Thankfully they were grime free at the moment, due to her mother finding special soap. It managed to get even the finest grit off. Belinda was going to have to get her mum some flowers or something for that now.
He nodded toward and empty booth and she could only do likewise. "Yes I would like that very much." She admitted to him and followed him over to the booth.
Her cheeks flushed crimson as he paid her yet another compliment about her job and it being hot. "It's not that glamorous really. Just hard honest work." She said as she slid into the booth seat. Listening to him as she glanced around. This offered a lot more privacy then at the open bar. It was cozy. "We all gamble here in Vegas. Its just life " She added with a chuckle. Her father was always going on about how much one gambled living here even if you never stepped foot into a casino. He had known life before it went to hell in a hand basket and often told her tales that she did not truly believe. Hundreds of cars on every street. Millions of people. Machines that flew people across the sky's. No zombies.
"A guard, you're off duty then? It must be interesting watching over someone all the time." Belinda wondered about whom it was he guarded. Perhaps he was with the VSF. Knowing only a limited amount about then, she wondered if perhaps he was an elemental as he did not have that whole vampire thing. She had lived in New Vegas all her life and had not ever really known anyone who was a guard.
She smiled at the offer of dinner. It had been awhile since she had grabbed a quick bite to eat. "Alright."
"Well, I do not usually go out late" She said with a shrug, "It's harder to see in the darkness. How about you?" She asked hoping he would expand upon his guard duty. Though if maybe he was watching over someone important maybe he would not be able to talk about it. That really piqued her curiosity.

Appreciation glinted in the steel blue of his eyes. Enjoying watching her as they changed venue from the bar to the booth. Scooping up the small menu for the bar he eyed over the items not sincerely sure what to get. He didn't truly go out much with Lizzy at home he tried to be home for her as much as possible. Feeling condemnable as he thought about the fact that she is home right now. His guilt never really left his mind, he felt guilty about a lot of things he couldn't really give Lizzy or the freedom she lacked at times because he kept her so hoarded away in their apartment. Letting out a slow breath he smiled at her hint of shyness. Enjoying every facet of the moments with Belinda. He wondered why he had stayed hidden himself for so long now.
When she said she had the tools he almost choked on his own tongue from her saucy flirtation. The woman had no idea what she did to him. He thought about the touch of her hand, and though they were worked and strong, he was surprised to find them soft in a different fashion and actually longed to touch her again. Happy that she decided to accept his offer.
Seeing her blush, he had to chuckle a little himself. It was nice to actually get a woman's attention that wasn't a little out of touch with the reality that they lived in. Most of the ones here were delusional about their thinking that the vampires were the end all be all. Adam just knew that they were all cattle eventually if not careful. The thought of any vamp sinking his or her fangs into Belinda had him frown just briefly enough to realize that he didn't like that thought at all and feel a little protective of her. "You are right indeed all do gamble here." Having forgotten finally that he was in one of the more prestigious casinos and not one of his side places. "And as far as your job being glamorous I beg to differ It's honest work your not kept like a pet. I like that." It actually put him at ease knowing she was a construction worker and not a blood slave.
"Off Duty? I guess you could say that. I guess it's not really guarding more of a procure what they need and bring it back kind of thing. Screw it, I can say I'm a jack of all trades at the moment. I don't really know how to describe what I do. I just do it." It was killing him dancing around the situation. He wanted to trust her and hoped that he could. Leaning forward he lowered his voice. Debating telling her about Lizzy, but he wasn't sure just yet if that was a good idea. " Actually I'm supposed to have been back hours ago. I'll very likely be in trouble." It wasn't to far from the truth Lizzy would apparently yell at him. However, only because he knew she got scared when he was gone for long periods and hadn't returned or let her know where he was. It was on the tip of his tongue to mentioned Lizard, but he stopped himself for now. He just needed to be sure he wasn't walking into a trap.
Offering the menu he had been flipping around in front of him while he talked to her. He finally decided he couldn't decide. " Tell you what how about your order for the both of us, and I'll just pay." Grinning he didn't mind giving her a bit of the power in the moment. Plus he was curious to see just what she might order for him. It was a way to see a little more about her. "I don't go out at night much, but I don't really sleep much either." He smiled. " Just some things I don't like remembering, and they always sneak up when I relax too much." Tilting his head as he scooted near her in the booth. His arm shifted up and around to rest on the back of the booths seat behind her as he angled his body towards her more. "How long have you been doing your job?" switching it back to her now. " And you have avoided my question. I see your beautiful, fearless and strong. So what are you not good at? Then again, I could be wrong you could be perfect and an angel..." making like he was going to reach for her shirt. " You have a belly button right?" Grinning some as he teased like he would reach for her shirt to check for himself.

Settling into the seat some she relaxed. Belinda stretched out her long legs and let her booted ankles cross under the table. Who would have thought that not even really gussied up too much, a handsome man would be totally into her. This was going to be a night to remember for sure, she thought as she looked at Adam again. His dark blue eyes reminded her of stormy sky's. Not that it stormed a lot though, she loved being out on her little porch watching the darker clouds roll in and the feeling of the air. All electrified.
He was not to terribly tanned either but enough that he did not look dead pale. His smile got her most. It was an easy sort. The kind that you could not help but smile back at. She chuckled as he seemed to have a bit of trouble with her own flirting. "Kept like a pet? Like a blood slave. My father would skin my hide if ever." She admitted with a shake of her head. Her father hated that they even paid the blood taxes. It wasn't like they were that bad. Once she was old enough she just thought of it more as a trip to the dentist. Something that had to be done even though one did not like it at all.
She could not help the slight frown when he spoke of being in trouble. "Are you sure you should not go. I would not want to keep you if you're going to get into trouble. " Belinda really did not want to get him into any sort of trouble. One friend had already gotten taken by the VSF because of some trumped up charge or so she thought anyway. It would really suck to lose another before. Well before she could be more then friends or at least have a chance to be more then friends. If that is where this was heading.
"You have not eaten here then?" She asked and took the menu he had picked up to scan it over. It was simple fare but done up fancy. "The burgers with potato sticks are good. Its one of my favorite meals." She added. She was not one for fancy meals or anything like that. Though her mother made a fuss around the holidays.
"Work well, I have worked since getting out of trade school. My father pushed for me to be able to learn construction and then trained me mostly himself. He is one of several founding builders." She told him pride coming through in her voice. She was, proud that is of her father. Even though he was retired now he always found his way onto a site to over see things. Or to check on her.
Her brow shot up as he called out on not answering his question. "Oh not good at.. Um well I cannot sew... " She trailed off with a laugh and brushed his hands away playfully. Ending up closer to him. "Yes, I have a belly button. Thank you very much. I am as human as they come. Aren't you?" She teased back and poked at the front of his belly. It was rock hard and flat and her mind tripped over thoughts of actually touching it. She leaned back and brushed against his arm that slipped over the booth seat.
It brought her face nearly level with his, she could not help herself but gave into a sudden impulse. She kissed him. A soft brush of lips on lips and pulled back slowly. "Are you sure your not perfect yourself?"
