Playby: Dierks Bentley
Name: Hoyt “Stoney” Blackwell
Age: 227/30
Sex: Male
Sexual Orientation:Heterosexual/Bi (only for his maker)
Species: Vampire
Physical Description: Stoney is tall with pale blue eyes with short blond curls cut close to his head. He is often seen wearing an old black Stetson hat that could get a man killed if they touch it. He wears only black jeans, boots and button down shirts and a lone star belt buckle. If his clothes look vintage, that’s because they are.
Attitude: Stoney is a quiet man but don’t let that fool you. He has a temper like a bitch slapped bull. He has a secret and is surrounded by an entourage of vampires who are as closed mouthed as he is about it. He doesn’t like people coming around asking a lot of questions, especially other vampires.
Abilities: He’s an old gun fighter so he has spent the last two centuries with plenty of practice shooting, he never misses. Other than that just the basic vampire abilities.
History: Stoney was roused from his bed in the dead of night by a frantic voice shouting that the Colton boys were back in town and shooting the place up. He grabbed his guns and badge and headed out the door. Stoney was the sheriff in a small town in Texas. It wasn't always that way.
When Stoney was 15, cattle barons moved into the area and wanted to buy his family’s land. When his father refused, they told him he would be sorry. The next day, while Stoney was out hunting, his family was killed and the farm burned. It was blamed on Indians but Stoney knew better. Since he survived, the land became his. At first he refused to sell. But one night he was attacked and dragged out into the desert. There he was beaten and brutally whipped, leaving long scars across his back. He was then left for dead. But a man found him and carried him back home where he was living in the barn. There he was nursed back to health at night but the man would disappear in the daytime only to return with food and water when the sun went down. He was a quiet man and did not say much but Stoney could hear that he had a strange accent. He grew to trust him. Soon the man was helping him rebuild his home.
When the cattle barons hired men showed up in the middle of the night again, Stoney saw for the first time what this man could do. The men went after Stoney immediately and the man had them dead before they could touch him. He knew there was something different about the man but he wasn't asking questions, he trusted him. Stoney didn’t ever want to feel vulnerable again so he took his father’s pistol and began learn to shoot. It wasn't long before he started to gain a reputation at a gunfighter. When he was 19, he sold the farm and moved into town. He learned that he could make a lot of money as a gun fighter and so began his career.
It seemed everywhere he went; the man would show up, always at night. He never aged. He never saw him in the daytime. It went on like that for years until Stoney decided he wanted something different in his life. So, at 27, he became a lawman. Once again, the man showed up in his town. Stoney was always glad to see him and had grown to love him as an old friend.
After three years, a band of outlaws, The Colton boys, began raiding his town, usually in the middle of the day. So on this evening, when they attacked in the middle of the night, he was a little surprised. They had a new person with them, a pale man dressed in fancy gunfighter clothing and sporting a silver saddle on his horse.
He met them in the middle of the street, his hands resting on his guns. Leave town now and we won’t have any trouble.” He was met with laughter and then the stranger called him out. The fight lasted only seconds. Just as the shots went off, he heard his old friend shout, “NO! Darius NO! He’s MINE!” Seconds later, all but one of the Colton boys were dead, Stoney was laying in the street bleeding to death and the two men were left to face off in the street. The things the two men spoke about confused him. It was a story of love and betrayal. The fight lasted about thirty minutes before the stranger lay in the street unmoving.
Stoney was suddenly looking up into the face of his old friend. “Marcel” he said with a bloody smile. “You can’t save me this time.” He said and laughed softly. “Yes, I can.” Was his reply. Stoney felt him lift him and carry him away. He didn’t know where he took him but it smelled like clean damp dirt. The next thing he knew, Marcel was biting him on his neck. Oddly, it didn’t hurt. It felt good, but it didn’t last long. He passed out. He awoke in a hole next to the man who was now his maker.
Marcel made a mistake when he didn't burn his ex lover, Darius, body, because it just disappeared along with the remaining Colton boy.
Stoney and Marcel lived together for 20 years before Darius showed up again. This time the fight was intense and lasted for two hours. Stoney was commanded by Marcel to not step in so he could do nothing but watch in horror as his maker was impaled with a wooden stake then had his head ripped off. Darius then turned on Stoney. It was only by sheer dumb luck that he was able to pick up his own wooden stake and drive it into Darius. This time he made sure Darius was dead and burned to ash. He gathered his maker and put him back together and built a coffin like bed for him. His maker has been in the sleep of the dead since. Stoney feeds him fresh blood daily by dripping it slowly into his mouth. He hopes one day his maker will wake but it has been so long. Over the years he has hired a posse that travels with him, keeping his maker safe. No one goes near the coffin without dire consequences.
The Blackwell posse is a group of 12 male vampires dressed in black vintage western wear. They keep to themselves and follow Stoney’s orders to the letter for he is their maker. This is how he ensures their undying loyalty.
About a week ago, the Blackwell posse, which is well known in the vampire community and generally avoided just because of their sheer numbers and reputation for ferocity, showed up just on the edges of New Vegas on their black horses and three black Humvees with steel plates over the windows on one, pulled by oxen. They moved into an old abandoned building that had never been rebuilt and hired a construction crew to rebuild it. Thor Ericsson could do nothing but watch from a distance. He knew what the crew was protecting and he knew getting close to them would just be one big cluster fuck.
Even though Stoney broke the rules creating the Posse, there is really nothing the vampire community can do about it since he taught all his offspring how to properly respect and show fierce loyalty to the king, just as Marcel taught him. Since this impressed Drake Legend long ago and he ruled that the Posse was to be allowed to live, Thor’s hands are tied. He would have to send a message and request that they have a meeting to discuss their stay in New Vegas. The meeting was short and sweet. Stoney and his posse agreed to abide by the rules as long as it was made clear that no one went near the coffin. Thor agreed since Marcel can be considered an old friend of his.
The abandoned building was to become a western style club owned and operated by Stoney with the approval of the council since his charge is nearly as old as Thor himself and therefore an important member of the vampire community.
Stoney’s Place is now open. Entertainment is provided by Stoney and the Blackwell Posse. Not all of them are in the band but all know how to play since there are always 6 of them guarding the thick steel door in the back of the place that seals off the deep stairwell that leads to a luxurious room willed with 12th century vintage French décor. No one enters this door but Stoney, on pain of swift and unquestioned death. There are some humans and ex VSF who have been hired to guard the hall that leads to the door but none of those guards are allowed near the door either.
