Considering how she had started out in this town, it was a wonder this girl was still alive. Dorcas was entirely grateful that she hadn't met her end the day she had run away, the day she left her old life and chose to live in this city, away from her parents and away from everyone she really knew. It had been a hard choice to make, but she'd known at the time that it was the right one, and she knew now that it was defiantly the right thing to have done. All she needed to do now was find her aunt, or at least find out what had happened to her, and learn more magic.
The latter was probably going to come before its predecessor. Dorcas didn't even know if her aunt had made it past the zombies and got into New Vegas, let alone if she dwelled within the city boundaries. There weren't a whole lot that made it beyond the flesh eaters apart from those with magical or supernatural abilities or amazing fighting backgrounds, even then, it was a thin chance you'd make it through. Dorcas had only managed to get through because she'd disguised herself amongst the rebels that were going on a raid, and she had travelled with them and left the second she could.
She'd spent a cold night in search of one family. The name she'd remembered from the Haven and it was in the very building she was waiting now that she'd found the family that she'd been in need of, and very luckily for her she had not been attacked that night and the Pierce family had not turned her away, in fact they'd set her up rather comfortably with a place to stay, a mentor and a job as soon as she was qualified to start it, which didn't take very long at all. There wasn't anything else she could have asked for and now? Well now Celine was going to be giving her, her very own lessons and from what she could guess, Celine was a good teacher, or at least she would be, the girl was very, very advanced. Dorcas just hoped she was ready but decided in her mind that even if she wasn't Celine was probably the quite friendly sort or else she wouldn't be doing this, would she? Dorcas wasn't sure and so she just kept her thoughts to herself as she sat waiting for her new teacher.
Dorcas wasn't dumb, far from it really, she was just new to all this stuff and she hadn't had her parents encouragement, but she hadn't needed it. She had a new life and that was encouragement enough to train as hard as she could at becoming the best witch she could possibly be and Celine, even though she was a couple years younger, was far more advanced than Dorcas and so she was going to be tutored by her for a bit and hopefully in some new fields or with Barriers, something Dorcas was really wanting to learn about so she had another skill to offer Celine's parents company. Dorcas truly felt as though it were an honour to have Celine as a teacher and hopefully, one day, she was going to be able to perform at Nirvana thanks to Celine's help and then maybe one day she would be owning her own place, a bar or something, just a little place to start off with. It wasn't much of a dream but that didn't bother Dorcas as it was a realistic dream she'd strive to achieve. As well as staying alive of course, but for now all she had to worry about was learning more magic. Barriers were what she was wanting to learn now more than anything and she'd get there in her own time, she was sometimes a bit of a perfectionist but she'd start with whatever Celine suggested, and with her was her familiar, a raven by the name of Beatle, and she'd brought her source of power her little wand that she had tucked in her jacket pocket.

The witch flipped through the papers on her desk and with her shiny black pen, she began checking off completed assignments requests of The Coven. Anastasia, Celine's mother and owner of The Coven, put Celine in charge of overseeing The Coven's assignments as well as recording them. Celine let out a sigh and dropped her pen on the bundles of papers.
The witch ran her fingers through her hair and let out a sigh, "This is so...boring...why does mother always assign me such tedious work?" Celine heard a meow and looked down. She smiled as she saw her familiar, a black cat named Luna, and chuckled softly as the feline jumped on her lap. Celine began to pet her familiar and within moments, Luna began to purr softly.
"Luna, Luna, Luna...what should I do to prevent myself from going insane from this paperwork?"
Celine looked at the clock on her desk and let out another sigh, "Time to train the new girl." The witch has heard of Dorcas but never had the official pleasure of meeting her. She has seen her around The Coven but has yet to converse with her. Celine's mother put her in charge of mentoring the new witch. The witch gathered some supplies from her office and put it in a duffle bag before leaving her office; her familiar following promptly behind her.
This day, the witch was clad in her business attire consisting of a black pant suit, a dark blue blouse, and a pair of her favorite black ado heels. She walked to the main lobby of The Coven, her heels clicking with every step until seeing a red headed woman standing in the center waiting. Celine put on a brilliant smile and stopped until she was in front of the fellow witch. Celine set down the duffle bag and extended her hand to Dorcas,
"Dorcas right? I am Celine Pierce. I am your assigned mentor. Welcome to The Coven."

Hordes of various people passed Dorcas by and she paid them all a small amount of attention, looking up at them to see if they were her new mentor, listening to their squeaky shoes of clothes rubbing against their flesh. Sadly they were not her new teacher but Dorcas did not have to wait too long to finally meet the woman that would be teaching her new and wonderful things. The soft noise of heels on the floor reached Dorcas' ears until the noise grew louder and harsher. Dorcas looked up to see the witch that she knew was Celine. It was the first time she was actually meeting with her and Dorcas hoped she held back her nerves and that they wouldn't get the better of her today, she needed to be on her top game. She had to put forth an almighty effort and preferably not screw up in the slightest. Dorcas had an ambition to do well, especially today of all days.
The woman Dorcas thought was Celine approached her and introduced herself. Dorcas smiled cheerfully and shook the witches hand loosely so as not to crush the poor girls hands with her nerves. Dorcas let go of Celine's hand possibly a fraction of a second too late for convention, but Dorcas didn't notice. She was too nervous. "Yes, Dorcas. Nice to meet you, thank you." She said, clasping her hands together. Her wand was tucked away along the inside of her jacket in a specially modified pocket that Dorcas had clumsily added herself and her Raven, Beatle, watched from a distance, eyeing everybody that passed beneath him and that passed themselves by Dorcas. He was a most distrusting sort of bird, but Dorcas loved him.
"I just want to say thank you for seeing me and doing this. I really want to improve my skills and learn as much as I can." She said, hoping she didn't seem too enthused but she just couldn't contain her excitement. From her eyes to her smile to her posture, everything about Dorcas suggested she was about ready to explode.

Celine smiled at the witch and couldn't help but eye her down and up, as if studying her. She had a rather...interesting taste in clothing. Celine wouldn't be caught dead wearing such clothing but hey, to each her own right? Celine eyed the raven from across the large room and chuckled slightly. She looked back at the novice witch and nodded, "There is no need to thank me Dorcas. It is part of my duty to train new magic users. We must stick together. In a world run by vampires...well...you can say we are prepared." She winked at the witch before turning slightly serious.
"I appreciate your enthusiasm but you must remember that magic is dangerous. A mere slip up of focus can have disastrous results to you and others around you. It is best to keep your emotions under control on a regular basis to help train you for spell casting. I do not mean to seem crude but it is my duty to be strict when need be."
Celine turned around from the witch, "Call your familiar. Follow me." The witch began walking, her heels clicking with every step. Her walk was strong, as an independent and powerful woman's should be. "The Coven holds a certain power over the city Dorcas. The vampires may rule but we have gifts that they highly value and are in need of...as are the other citizens of New Vegas. Because of our position, each member of The Coven must walk with confidence...without fear...and with power."
Within moments, the two witches reached a training room of sorts. Inside the room were shelves filled with herbs, supplies...and everything a magic user could dream of. Celine halted her movements and turned around to face Dorcas, "Before we begin. Tell me what you know how to do so I know where we can train next."
