Caleb had an errand to do so he had dressed to his immaculate way. A black suit jacket over a black button down shirt that had a tie that was loosened with red stripes on it about his neck. His black pants were perfectly cut as well to fit him perfectly. The black dress shoes were perfectly matched to go with the rest of his outfit. He lifted his hands and fixed the jacket more by pulling on it before folding it where it is supposed to be folded and he looked into a mirror on the wall as he passed by it.
He stood there as he thought over things. Past things. He stared at the man he had become even as people passed by him and in front of him. He continued to stare at himself. The music beat in the background as he stood there. He felt someone's hand on his shoulder and it knocked him out of his thoughts. He felt the press of her hand as she slid it along his shoulder to his chest and he met her eyes. She watched the pupil dilate as he spoke. "Go play with the bartender, lady dear." He removed his eyes from her eyes and then watched as she walked to the bar.
He watched as the bartender looked over at him and he bowed his head. You treat Caleb good and he treats you good. The bartender had been with him a long while and he was kind of close to Caleb in a way. The bartender didn't know much of Caleb's past but knew enough that he knew what Caleb was capable of. He watched as the bartender gave a nod of his head and Caleb returned it once more before he began to walk to his office when suddenly two women came up and wrapped their arms about his waist. One held a bottle of whiskey and the other held a bottle of rum.
He gave them a look before he wrapped an arm about both women and whispered in their ears. "You both should be working. Though I am indeed charmed by you two having lit my dark heart for a moment. I will return to brighten your nights further perhaps later. For now I must be the bore and do some work." The both gave whining noises and he let go of them as he gently touched their noses before walking towards the office door once more.
He went inside and closed the door behind him. He leaned against it for a few minutes when the phone rang and he went and answered it. He picked it up and nearly cursed as he heard the words. "A meeting among my managers and a few employees?" He hung up and went back to the door as he loosened his tie even more. He began to take the stairs up to the second floor. He strolled into the room where the two men and three women sat.
"A pleasure to meet all of you once more..." He murmured in that same calm voice and they looked up at him horrified at seeing him here. He slowly closed the door behind him. "Do I not get to sit in on a meeting that pertains to over throwing me or am I mistaken and this is just a break?" He moved to the table and took a seat on the edge of the table that was close to the wall with his back to the wall.
He heard them all speak at once and snorted some at the responses. "We thought you would be gone for quite some time!" Three of them said at once. He began to look at them. "Oh. I came back to do the business the lot of you should be doing." He still remained utterly calm. "What were you going to do? Kill me?" The women gasped and looked at each other. "The women may leave but they will leave with just the clothes on their back." The gentleman always.
He watched them leave with their heads bowed low. "Now for you two." He began to stand and then he walked over to the door as he began to sing. "I feel the fire flare alight inside me Higher so I can see N' aspire to survive this fight in spite of Liars and travesty Oh fire Did you think that I'd blink, that I'd go and take the ink to your control, that I'd sell my soul, and Does it ring any bells that it sells that we're living out of shells in a shotgun, if we couldn't shoot, We'd have to run, and finally the cerebral fantasy, better genes and machines, so we can die looking like We're teens, like snapshot scenes in smithereens... Oh, and the ones we choose Oh, witch hunting fools I feel the fire..."
He locked the door but the two men were already on their feet. He walked over towards the table and took a seat. "Now which one of you decided that you were going to run the place?" They both looked at each other. He folded his hands on the table as he leaned forward. "Which one?" The younger one pointed to the other and he looked over at the older one of the men. "Now, Vince did we not go over this once before. I gave you the option to leave. Were you planning my death?"
The young one spoke. Draven if he remembered correctly was his name. "He was. He wanted me to stake you when we went to bed and take you out and burn you. I was just listening in since I never planned to hurt you." He looked at Draven calmly and nodded. "You may go, Draven. And we were never to go to bed together." Draven nodded. "I know but he seemed to think I was your type of man." Draven walked towards the door and Vince went to grab him but Caleb had already been planning that he would.
Caleb jumped on the table and ran across it before jumping and grabbing Vince by the throat. "Do not touch my employees, Vince. You I will deal with but for now it is the basement for you." He had stared into his eyes and the man's eyes dilated. "You will go to the basement and lock yourself in until I tell you otherwise." With that he blinked taking away the compulsion and Vince walked to the door and he knew the man would be going to the basement.
Draven spoke up then. "Caleb, I'm sorry, sir. I was the one..." Caleb raised a hand to stop Draven from speaking but the young man continued. "That hid the letter for the bartender to find and let you know." Caleb nodded his head. "You may take the rest of the night off with pay." The young man nodded and went out of the room. Caleb hurriedly left the room and went to his office once more. He closed the door gently behind him and sat behind his desk in the comfortable chair.

Usually on her night off Autumn would catch up on her washing, maybe paint her nails before heading out to help Mrs Collin with the triplets or to cook for the very elderly couple across the hall followed by a night of canasta and listening to stories about the time before the apocalypse.
But tonight she was walking down a busy street in the city in borrowed high heels. Her feet already ached, she had twisted her left ankle and with each step she tugged at the bottom of the also borrowed black dress the seemed to get shorter and shorter. She already regretted agreeing to come along to the hens night, it was Lucy's celebration, another waitress at the Bistro. She was marrying her long time boyfriend after breaking up and getting back together almost monthly for the last year. She gave the union little chance of surviving 6 months.
The plan was to have a few drinks at the bar before heading to a casino Lucy knew of called Lust, the kind of place where they could see strippers and do all the things a bride to be shouldn't be doing. Autumn was hoping to have a few drinks then make her apologies and head home well before it got to that point.
She looked up at the name of the bar 'STYX' as her friend Lucy and the other girls pushed the door open to go inside. Huffing and rolling her eyes Autumn followed, her heel catching on the metal capping of the step and she stumbled through the door almost bumping into a tall dark skinned man with pale eyes. "Sorry" she muttered, trying not to stare at the tall man his pale almost powder blue eyes standing out even more vivid against the black suite, shirt and dark skin. He made her skin crawl and she turned away quickly.
She caught up with Lucy and the group of other girls she didn't know at the bar, they were ordering a round of exotic looking cocktails with umbrellas. It tasted sickly sweet and she had barely taken a sip when the other girls were ordering more. When a questioning eyebrow was cocked her way she shook her head. They girls whispered among themselves, a few daring to look her up and down with sneers.
Before she was half way through her drink, the others were all laughing loudly, bumping into each other and obviously intoxicated. She had no idea how they managed so many drinks in such a short time but she knew she would finish her drink and get out of there. They were making no effort to include her in anything anyway and her feet hurt so much from the uncomfortable shoes.
A group of guys came over and invited them to go and sit with them. She didn't want to, but the others almost ran across the bar and draped themselves onto the lounge chairs, sitting on laps and being far more friendly than seemed reasonable in any circumstances. Autumn found a chair at a table and pulled it over and sat on it, The closest guy, the one in an arm chair with Lucy on his knee, reached over and stroked her leg, Autumn slapped it away and the man shrugged, whispered something to Lucy, the both giggled and he started to kiss Lucy's neck.
As much as she wanted to leave, she felt some obligation to look after her friend, her friend who obviously currently wasn't capable of looking after herself. She watched as their group grew smaller, girls leaving for quiet corners, or leaving all together with some of the guys. A waitress came bustling over with a smile and Autumn helped her load glasses onto her tray. When she left she realised that Lucy was gone. She stood and looked around the room only to see her disappearing up the stairs to the bar above.
Autumn contemplated leaving and heading home, but again she realised she couldn't leave her friend to be taken advantage of in her current intoxicated state. She stood and quickly followed up the stairs, well as quickly as the stupid heels would allow. By the time she got to the top step her friend was no where to be seen.
Unlike the bar below, this bar was much darker in the lighting, on quick glance everyone seemed to be drinking the same red liquid. Autumn blinked a few times trying to adjust her eyesight to the gloom. She thought she spotted her friend in the far corner and slowly made her way across the room, trying not to bump into anyone.
As she got closer she realised it wasn't her friend afterall, she spun around quickly, the heel on her shoe snapped and she stumbled forward, reaching out for the closest thing which just happened to be a women. They both crashed to the ground and the glass in the women's hand shattered on the tile floor.
"So sorry" Autumn groaned as she tried to stand, as she got up she saw her arm and stopped, blood poured in a steady stream from her arm. She was overcome by a wave of dizziness and fell back to the floor on her ass.
"Oh god" she moaned, closing her eyes tightly as if she could erase the sight of the blood from her memory. Her stomach churned and threatened to heave and she wondered if she might pass out.
When she opened her eyes she had about 10 people all standing around her, peering at her with extreme interest in their pale eyes. "I amok" she muttered as one of them, a tall lean man reached out to take her hand. Autumn reached up reactively with her injured right arm, the man smiled and lowered his head. Autumn got the strange impression he was going to kiss her hand but instead she saw with horrer as his tongue whipped out and licked at the blood.
Autumn screamed, the people all around her suddenly pushing and shoving, grabbing at her as though she was a prize. She felt a sharp sting on her bare shoulder and warmness spreading down her back as the pain grew, something had cut her, maybe it was the broken glass she was sitting surrounded by somehow. She looked around frantically for help but all of those around her were grabbing at her, or licking red liquid from their hands or fingers or what ever they had managed to touch her with.
Her head swum and she felt dangerously close to passing out again as she realised they were all licking her blood from their hands. She felt sick and hot and the room was spinning out of control. "Help" she managed barely above a whisper before she passed out; she never had been able to cope with the sight the blood, especially her own.

Caleb sat back in his chair relaxing as much as possible. He was starving but trying to push it away. He wasn't one to normally lose his control even when hungry. He had plenty that would feed his hunger but he had to put it aside for the moment and get some last minute work done. He slowly moved pulling his chair forward so that he sat in front of his computer staring at the screen.
His music began to play from the play list he had put on. Wrong by Depeche Mode pouring out from the speakers and he leaned back in his chair whispering the words. "I was born with the wrong sign In the wrong house With the wrong ascendancy I took the wrong road That led to the wrong tendencies I was in the wrong place at the wrong time For the wrong reason and the wrong rhyme On the wrong day of the wrong week I used the wrong method with the wrong technique..."
How true those words were. He had been in so many wrongs since his birth and wasn't sure how all of it had fallen like it had. "Wrong... Wrong... There's something wrong with me chemically Something wrong with me inherently The wrong mix in the wrong genes I reached the wrong ends by the wrong means It was the wrong plan In the wrong hands The wrong theory for the wrong man The wrong eyes on the wrong prize The wrong questions with the wrong replies..." He adored this song. It had become one of his favorite songs. Many didn't understand why he loved it so much. Some had caught him whispering the words as he worked even. "Wrong... Wrong..."
But then Draven came running into his office and he looked up from where his eyes had landed on the screen. "Caleb... Sir! There's a problem... Upstairs. I was just hanging with the bartender there when everything went..." At the same time the music said the same word Draven did. "...Wrong!" Caleb clicked on the security camera and saw that Draven was correct but he couldn't see what was having the crowd form about someone. "What is going on, Draven? Is there a full moon out tonight and all the crazies have come out to here!"
Draven looked about to back out at the soulless eyes that met his. "Come in and grab one of these." He pulled open a drawer and dropped the case on his desk. He proceeded to unclasp the locks and looked down at his double swords in an 'X.' He lifted one out and Draven lifted the other one out. "Sir... I don't know how to use this." Caleb shook his head. "You aren't going to fight. It's just for protection in case things get even more ugly." He stood up and began walking for the door. "Follow me. And I guess this means you are being put to work for the night."
Draven chuckled some. "That's fine by me." Draven wasn't sure if he wanted to be anywhere near when Caleb resorted to sword fighting. It wasn't that he didn't believe Caleb would come out on top it was more the fact the man seemed unscathed by anything. Caleb continued to walk but holding the long sharp blade on his shoulder as if it were a scythe and he was the grim reaper. Crowds moved to let him pass.
Draven followed along behind him holding the sword he carried as if afraid the thing may bite him. Caleb strolled up the stairs casually. "So what are they crowding?" He asked softly and Draven answered. "A woman." Caleb looked over his shoulder. "Truly?" Draven nodded his head and they went into the room with Caleb leading the way. Draven stayed right behind Caleb so if he was needed which he doubted. When Draven had first been hired there had been talk of the owner being dubbed 'The Gentleman Death' among other names as well leading to the same assumption.
Caleb cleared his throat even as he put the sharp point of his sword on the ground as he leaned on it while holding the hilt. "I thought I had made my rules clear. Didn't I, Draven?" Draven nodded. "Yes... Yes, you did." Caleb continued as if he were just holding a conversation with Draven even as his song that had been playing in his office began to play on the speakers here in the bar. Wrong. "Did I not make myself clear about attacking..." But then the scent of blood hit his nose. Fresh blood. He continued even as he practically drooled in want of it.
"Attacking anybody in MY bar?" Draven again nodded. "Yes, you made yourself clear, sir." The group was looking at him and he had indifference written all over him. Caleb didn't care what he had to do to make his word be listened to. He straightened. "And what happens to those that don't follow my words carefully, Draven?" Draven spoke in answer as he watched the ten vampires coming forward in a predatory way as if going to attack Caleb and himself. "Sir..."
Caleb raised a hand. " 'The Gentleman Death' seems to be not heard. Go now, Draven your work is done." Draven hesitated. "But sir..." Caleb looked somewhat over his shoulder. "I told you you would not have to use the sword. Now go. I will train you on the weapon later." With that Caleb brought his sword up watching those in front of him even as he heard Draven leave. He had given his warning now it was up to them if it was going to be death or not. "Everyone else out as well!" They all left and he moved quickly slamming the door behind them and locking it.
A table was soon thrown at him and he ducked. "Tsk tsk... Such bad form." He ran then and with a quick move sliced the head off of the vampire cleanly and soundlessly. But the vampire's blood had slid over his arms and his clothes as the vampire had his head cut off and fallen to the floor. "Again or is that enough warning?" The others scattered to the walls. "You all will stay here or I will hunt you all down." He spoke smoothly even as he went over and damned if he didn't want her blood as well but he was thinking like a vampire now. Blood.
He lifted her into his arms as he knealt even as he tried to push his hunger once more aside. "Dear girl, awaken for me, yes?" He whispered the words so softly even as he still held his blood soaked sword as if waiting for another to make a move which one did. He heard the sound of the vampire's feet hitting the ground and in his kneeling position he brought it up behind him hearing the howl as the blade sliced through most of the man. "I do not make warnings..." He murmured to the remaining eight. He stood up slowly. "I am here, dear girl to help you. Perhaps my office would be safe. There is a couch you could lay down on as well and perhaps be more comfortable while..." He swallowed hard.
He had wanted to say while he licked away the blood. "While I get to making your pains go away." Caleb always the gentleman for the most part especially when it came to women in distress. One of his workers had come to him telling him why she wore such heavy make up and he had crushed his glass. In his time a lover truly loved his woman but this man had abused her and Caleb had set him on the straight and narrow and the man had proved that he was straightening out with a little help from Caleb.
"Would you like to come and sit in my comfortable office?" He purred the words to her as if taunting and teasing her into coming with him into his office.

Autumn heard a soft voice asking her to wake up, she moaned softly and opened her eyes a little looking up at the extremely well dressed handsome man. She felt his arms around her and blushed a little, she couldn't quite remember what had happened but she had fainted, that she was sure of, the dazed feeling and slight nausea a tell tale give away.
She opened her mouth to speak when she spotted a blur over her savior's shoulder, she thought she saw a man coming at them from behind. She closed her eyes tightly, the memory of them all swarming around her coming back to her mind. She shivered violently at the memory, but the attack she expected never came. She opened her eyes and there was no one coming at them. She jammed them closed again, confused and scared, he body shaking so hard her teeth were starting to chatter.
The man holding her spoke to the others of a warning but she barely too notice, her head was spinning and her arm throbbed painfully. The man stood and she closed her eyes tightly again wishing that she would just pass out or faint for good. At least that way she wouldn't have to try and make sense of everything. But his voice was soothing and he was offering her sanctuary in his office. Sanctuary away from the people staring at her like she were the last shrimp on the buffet table.
She opened her eyes a little and looked up into his pale eyes, up into his perfectly sculptured face. Despite the shivering she felt her cheeks blush, he was certainly the most handsome man she had ever seen.
"Please" she murmured softly "Get me out of here, it isn't safe" she took a deep shaking breath "I want to go and sit in your office, away from all these" she swallowed "People" she added with no other word coming to mind that was appropriate.
But to emphasise she moved her head closer and whispered softly in his ear so that they couldn't hear "I think they are monsters" her warm breath blew across his cheek, neck and ear.
She swallowed and felt tears spring to her eyes "They, they" another deep breath before she could say what they had been doing, because surely nothing could be quite that unreal. "They were licking my blood"
Of course she knew that vampires were running the city, she made her required donations for her taxes, but it was all controlled, vampires didn't attack humans, not ever, or rather not that she had ever heard.
Her head spun and she gripped hold of him tighter "please" she begged softly "save me"

Caleb saw her eyes looking up at him when he had left no room for her to deny him of making her awaken for him. The second thing he noticed was her blushing and wondered about it. He could still smell the blood wafting off of her as if beckoning him to sink his fangs into her and take what he wanted from her. He knew he should be paying attention to those around him and he was. The vampire was and is a predator first. He didn't get to where he was from being a gentle soul. His hands were stained in blood just as his soul was black if he even still had his soul.
He may have been paying attention but her eyes were looking over his shoulder and he knew he had someone thinking of attacking him from behind. He knew by reflex how to guard his own back. He had the vampire fall under his blade just as many had done so. He turned his head some as he looked at the others in challenge. His face was impassive as can be as if this were a game to him. A game of poker where a good poker player kept everything inside. He had mastered the game as well with his showing no emotion whatsoever. He had felt her grip him tighter and heard her words. "I will."
His fangs had extended as if just dying for a drink. He spoke of warning even as his fangs glinted with each movement of his lips. Nothing seemed to matter. But then worst happened. He looked down as her eyes met his pale eyes. "I will in a moment, dear lady. For now you must wait for they will follow and we can't have that, now can we? Do not worry. We will get out just fine." Says Gentleman Death. He finished the last in his head. "For now you must stay right here laying down without moving at all."
He let her go gently and laid her down on the floor. He raised his sword as they began to come towards him having formed a four man circle about the two of them. His pale eyed gaze slid over one even as he listened for the other three. One more time of compulsion. "You are to help me get her out of here without anymore pain to her." His voice was even and the vampire's pupil dilated and went back to normal as he turned on his friend just as one got a hold of Caleb. He felt the fangs sink straight into his shoulder as pain erupted.
His arm came back hitting the vampire in the ribcage as the sword dropped and Caleb kicked it so that the woman didn't get accidentally cut. The other vampire came at him and he sent his hand straight through the vampire's chest and grabbed the slow beating heart pulling it out and throwing it against the wall. "Keep your eyes closed, dear lady." He spoke calmly even as the blood had dripped on the woman. "And don't look until I say otherwise."
He grabbed the vampire that still clung to him by the vampire's shirt and bent over some as he threw the vampire. He sent the vampire flying across the room as if the vampire was a ball. He looked over to see the vampire he was using killing the other vampire. How long would the compulsion hold? He wasn't sure but time was of the essence. He was weakening and the hold on the other vampire would, too. He strode over and grabbed the one who was being used by him by the head and broke his neck.
He saw the blur and moved himself back to the woman and grabbed the vampire by the neck. He lifted him effortlessly as he met the vampire's eyes."I can do anything I want and it's over now." He whispered the words so softly for the vampire before he took the hand that was free and shoved it into the vampire's chest and pulled out the heart. He threw it over his shoulder. One left to go. He didn't have time to deal with that one just yet and to his surprise Draven had reentered and had the sword plunged into the vampire's heart of the one that he had used his compulsion on.
"Draven... You deserve a raise." Caleb spoke softly. "I couldn't leave it all to you, sir." Was Draven's response. "I want this room blocked off until it's repaired and cleaned up." Caleb glanced around at all the blood that was all over. He looked over in time for Draven to come over. "You are hurt, sir..." Caleb shook his head. "A flesh wound is all." Caleb picked the woman up after kneeling and lifted her with what seemed like ease to anyone looking.

"Get out of this fine" Autumn looked panicked "What do you mean? What's going on?"
He lay her carefully on the floor, she looked up, thought about trying to scramble to her feet but took one look at the sword and then as another sunk his teeth into his shoulder and she choked back a screame, her hands flying up to shield her eyes from the macabre scene.
At the sound of a slap of skin against skin, close, too close to be comfortable, she opened her eyes, pulling her hands away in time to see the heart being torn form one of their chests and it be hurled across the room. She followed its arc, the way it tumbled end on end mid air until it hit the wall with a wet slap and slithered down the wood paneling onto the floor with a wet plop. She felt her hands begin to shake violently and looked down at them, there on her arms were bright red blotches of moisture. She felt moisture running down her cheek and reached her fingers up to touch it, when she pulled her fingers back they were tinged with brilliant red.
She took a deep breath and let out a blood curdling scream that was cut short by the voice of her savior, telling her to close her eyes and not to look. She obeyed, despite her horror, the sound of something reasonable giving her something to grasp hold of, something logical amoung the chaos.
But she couldn't with each noise she looked, her hands falling away in time to see something that made her mind recoil in horror, her stomach heave wishing she had something in her to vomit and her eyes to slam shut again far too late to avoid seeing what she shouldn't be seeing.
When all went quiet except for a murmur of voices she opened her eyes, in time to see the man who had helped her bending down to scoop her up into his arms. She took one look at his blood spattered face, hid blood soaked clothing and started to struggle.
"Please don't kill me" she begged "Me need to get the VSF or someone here, can't you see there has been murders, it's a blood bath, they tried to kill me" she gripped his shirt in both of her hands, tightly in fists she tugged at his shirt as if her urgency could be better understood by tugging and thumping her hands.
"The VSF is going to investigate, they will. They will want to know why you attacked me then attacked all these people." she took a deep breath "Put me down" she screamed into his ear.
She kicked her legs and tried her best to fight him, to get him to let her go and put her down. When that didn't work and it was obvious he was carrying her to a room at the back of what was the bar she looked over his shoulder for anyone she could and screamed loudly, right next to his ear "HEEEEEELLLLLPPPPPP!!!!"

Caleb heard her panicky words and looked at her as if saying do you really want to know. "I'm sure you don't want to know this." He spoke simply as he always did. Calm as if he were on vacation underneath a waterfall. As if nothing would destroy his calm exterior. He gently laid her down. He wanted her to stay still so he could protect her more effectively without causing her bodily harm.
Yes, it was a dangerous spot to be in but the safest. They would have to take him down before they could get to her. Laying where she was she was in what would be considered the safest zone. If he had put her somewhere else and fought with her at his back then he would have to be too many places at once or accidentally hit her when swinging. Granted his back would be uncovered in a way in this position but she would be safe.
He felt the fangs sink into his shoulder and didn't make a sound other than a grunt. But he heard her scream. Shouldn't he be the one screaming in agony? He had sent his elbow into the vampire's ribcage without any care. He was quite content as if he were on a battle field or back in a bar in his younger days of being human.
Nothing was bothering him more than the human woman's blood wafting up with each intake of breath through his nose. A constant reminder that she was there and needing his help. In all his years he had never killed a woman or child. He killed the men that hired him to do so.
He heard her scream again and told her to close her eyes. He figured that it would be better that way. He figured she wouldn't have nightmares with these things attacking her. He figured he was doing the best that he could by her. If he weren't used to the bloodshed he was sure he'd be cowering. But there wasn't much he hadn't seen at this point in his life.
They went down practically smoothly or as smoothly as they could. When he was done nothing still shown in his face even as he lifted the woman into his arms. He knew he probably looked savage with the blood on his face, clothing, and hands. He felt her struggling but held her gently but firmly so she didn't fall and hurt herself.
He then heard her words and looked to Draven in surprise. He wasn't going to kill her. "If I planned on killing you do you not think I would have before now?" Draven spoke then. "He isn't going to kill you!" Caleb spoke to Draven. "She's in shock. And no, we do not need the VSF here. It would not bode well for any involved at all." He felt the tug on his shirt by her hands.
"Draven, I can offer you many..." But Draven spoke. "Do not worry. You have been good to me." Caleb nodded and continued to walk with her into the back room. He set her gently down on the couch and in a blur locked the door of this soundproof room. He had set her down in the room. The kicking and fighting him weren't deterring him at all. He had cringed some as he heard her screams at his ear.
But then in a blur he was on top of her. "I saved your life and trust me I did save it. If I had gone about my merry way you would be dead." He wrapped his arms about her. "I'm starving and your blood..." Before he could finish his fangs sank into her neck and he drank from her. He couldn't help himself. He was starving and had bled for this woman so he figured it would be fair and then when his head lifted realization dawned on him.
"Oh hell..." He had broken a law. He had to silence her for a long while at least. He wouldn't hurt her. He didn't hurt or kill women. Hell, he had plenty of women that offered up blood same as men just for some time with him. Here he was having attacked a woman. Guilt hit him and he would make amends with her by keeping her here. Yes, that could work. He would make her happy in a way. She would have whatever she wanted. She would be his prisoner though. The predator in him seemed to grin. He couldn't let her go now.

Autumn felt the couch underneath her and she took a deep shaking breath that came out n several short bursts rather than a long breath. She didn't see him move away from the couch but a sudden noise made her head spin around to the door where his hand still rested on the lock.
"Who the hell are you?" she asked in a frightened mouse
He was suddenly over her and she let out a startled "eek". She pressed herself against the back of the couch, as though trying to push herself through the back of it. His arms wrapped around her suddenly, in a lovers embrace that would usually be done slowly and with some finesse but this was a rough grab.
Her eyes grew wide as his head lowered, as his fangs pierced her skin she felt a sudden jolt of pain like hot lightening went through her neck. She struggled, trying to wiggle free, her legs kicking wildly from beneath him.
"Let me go" she screamed as she pummeled her fists into his back "Stop, let me go"
Even as he lifted his mouth from her neck, she thrashed underneath him, kicking and pounding at his arms.
She stopped suddenly, and just stared at his face, noticing the red stain that marked his lips and chin.
"You're a vampire, and you drank from me" she said in disbelief, and then with more anger "You drank from me, I can't believe you drank from me you life sucking scum bastard"
She lifted her leg and aimed her foot hard at his knee cap, the sharp jolt up her leg made her wince. Going for the next best option she lifted her hand and slapped him hard across the face.
"how dare you? even i know you cant drink from someone with their permission." she slapped him again harder, the sharp pain in her hand for an instant made her wonder f she had broken a bone "let me go this instant, you are going to be in big trouble"
She took a deep breath and screamed "HEELLLLPPPP" then for added drama, as she had been told to do as a young girl, scream the one thing that will get you assistance.
"RAAAAPPPPPPPEEEEEE" she yelled.
She struggled to get free but he was as imoveable as a rock, "Let me go" she pounded her fists against his chest "Let me go right now"

Caleb heard her question of who the hell are you as he locked the door. He looked at her with a look of indifference. "I am known by many names." He answered calmly. "Which name would you prefer? My worst or my true name? Maybe a name that many have whispered with their last breath?" He thought it over. "I am like The Phantom in Phantom of the Opera. A beautiful face hiding the darkened soul with many masks."
But then he was on her and he couldn't stop himself. His arms encircled her and pulled her up against him. It would have felt delicious and tempting if he weren't lusting for another thing that was coursing through her veins and making him want to tear into her like a rabid animal. He was still fighting that predatory instinct of tearing into her skin wherever he could and drinking her all up.
He felt her struggling and he couldn't fight the enjoyment he was getting from her wiggling and kicking at him. It made the predator in him growl with a need to take but he shoved it down as he lifted his head. Reality sank in and he realized what he had done. He had attacked a woman and she felt her fists hitting against him.
Guilt came fast to him. He wasn't his brother. He wasn't the type to take from a woman and here he was attacking one. He felt as if he deserved every violent touch that she gave him. But suddenly she stopped hitting him and stared up into his face. Her words made him feel guiltier. He wasn't his brother yet he had done the worst thing that he had always sworn never to do.
He felt her kick him in the kneecap and grunted some but then he felt the hard slap across his face and grunted again. "I didn't mean to." He whispered softly. But then she slapped him harder again across his face. "I don't think letting you go is the best option at the moment." He spoke softly as the realization hit him. He couldn't let her go and couldn't let her get to the VSF. That meant he had to keep her here.
He cleared his throat as he grabbed her wrists to keep her from hitting him some more. "Quit screaming. You are in a soundproof room. That means they can't hear us and you can't hear them. He met her eyes. At least he could calm her now. He began to use his compulsion letting the power slide out of him to use it on her and sending it into her. "You will calm down and be more susceptible to staying here. It will be like a vacation. You don't want to leave." He whispered the words as if hypnotically.

Autumn waited until he had finished speaking before she glared at him and hissed "Are you on drugs?"
She started pacing up and down from the couch to the door "I mean why would I calm down, I have been attacked no no" she turned on him looking him in the face "No not just once but twice" she resumed pacing "AND she added why would I want to stay here with you, the same person I just saw attack and kill all those people"
She threw up her hands "And trust me bucko, this is not the QE2 cruise ship, this is not my idea of a vacation" she lifted her fingers into rabbit ears, bending them up and down as she said the word 'vacation'.
She poked him in the chest "So just what are you playing at mister, let me go"
She stomped across the room and started pounding on the door, surely this was some kind of joke, maybe it was all part of some theatrical show or something. There was places like that here in New Vegas, you could eat dinner on the sinking Titanic or be taken hostage in a bank robbery, all in fun with lots of laughs and silly costumes and fake blood.
"Of course" she turned and grinned at her captor "This is some sort of theatrical show isn't it?" she laughed, not openly it was a nervous laugh "ummm Lucy is here somewhere isn't she, come on guys game over lets go home its late and I am tired"
She pounded on the door harder as tears started to stream down her cheeks "Please" she called out "someone, I just want to go home"
She turned around with her back against the door as she started to sob, she closed her eyes as she slid down the door, her arms wrapping around her knees as she sat on the floor and weeped.

Caleb heard her hissed question and blinked. His usually controlled expression turning to bewilderment. "What makes you think I would be on drugs?" He asked even as she started to pace. But then she began to speak of what he had told her which made him even more stunned. He stared at her as if she had just grown two heads in his surprise.
She was throwing what he had said with his compulsion back at him and obviously not effected by it at all. His face turned impassive as she looked at him though. Everything he was thinking behind his mask of impassivity. "Because I am your safest bet. How many of those vampires did I inadvertently let go of when I came in? I mean there was quite a bit of vampires surrounding you when I saw the security camera."
His voice was calm even as he watched her. "I wasn't brought in to make it clean. I didn't get to where I am from keeping my hands without having blood on them. IF I let you go..." He just looked at her as he let his words sink in. "How long do you think it would be before they came to get you and finish what they started?" He knew he was playing dirty pool but he needed her to keep her silence and granted out there was different with rules but the truth was any vampire would hunt her down.
His club wasn't always clean. And his compulsion hadn't worked so he was doing the second best thing. "As for me killing them all... Are you still alive? Are you still breathing? Have I killed you?" He watched as she threw up her hands and speak again. He took a seat on the couch and folded his hands as he leaned forward placing his elbows on his knees which were spread.
"As for a vacation... Trust me I can make it feel like that, lady dear. I can give you whatever you wish but only if you stay here. Let your mind swallow the events of what has happened and then come to your own conclusions. You are in shock. You can with your spouting have me murdered unfairly. Your hands will be tinged with my blood for everyday and night of your life."
He felt her then poke him in the chest and sat back but not stopping her from doing so. "I can't let you go. We both know this. And I have stated that plainly as well as the game I am playing is not a game. I am not exactly thrilled by these events. I am far from it. You have my fate in your tiny hands, lady dear. But I refuse to kill you so we are stuck in a stand still as it happens. A draw. You are stuck here with me and I am stuck here with you. Doesn't mean I will be horrible to you."
He watched as she stomped to the door and began pounding on it. Why do people not listen at all? Why do they always have to see for themselves? "I created this room specifically to get away from the noise and as well so no one could hear me. This room was made to my exact words." He saw her grin and turned his head some as if wishing he didn't have to say the words.
"I'm sorry, lady dear... But tis not a theatrical show. Who is Lucy?" His eyes slid back to her. Oh no... Did those vampires have her that he had let go? His eyes narrowed. But now was not the time to worry of this Lucy chit. He'd ring Draven about it later and possibly have him go look for her. He heard her words as she called out and pounded the door harder. But then she turned around.
He saw the tears as her back fell against the door and he knew another nail went into his coffin. He got to his feet and sat down beside her. He pulled her against him and held her there. "It's not so bad. If anything once this is all over you can tell your friends you were locked up with a sexy gentleman and can always come back and be treated like VIP." He ran a hand gently along her back in comfort.
He could never stand a woman's tears. It was like seeing that woman's face as his brother killed the woman all over again. "Are you hungry? I can have my friend bring you something to eat. Thirsty?" What did women like to do normally anyways?

Autumn looked up,tears still streaming down her cheeks, her bottom lip trembling slightly, she shook her head slightly.
"No i couldn't, I mean I am not hungry" she swallowed hard "thank you anyway" she added out of polite habit.
She took a deep breath, she tried to sit up, half to try and shake off his arm half to get some sort of control over herself but she shook so violently that her hands slipped from around her knees and the sudden jerky movement made her head spin violently.
Feeling sick, it took several attempt to clasp her shaking hands together back around her knees and she lowered her head again.
"Lucy is dead isn't she, those" her voice cracked and she sobbed again, she managed to get some control with a few deep breaths and continued in a quiet shaky voice "those monsters have killed her haven't they?"
She shivered all over with shock . she sniffed trying her hardest to stop the sobbing knowing she was sounding pathetic. She didn't know this man, this vampire, this monster and for all she knew he could kill her at any moment, but if he was planning to do that he would have already.
"I want to go home" she lifted her head and looked him in the eyes. "I won't tell anyone I promise" she tried her hardest to smile, the corners of her mouth twitched slightly "I will do anything to prove it." she took a deep breath, the thought of going home and her sudden calm plee making her feel stronger.
"And if you are right they will kill me and then you have nothing to worry about, its a win win situation" she smiled "I should just go home and pack my bags and leave, maybe I can leave the city, I hear the rebel camp is quite civilised."
She patted his leg next to her and smiled "Win win situation really hey?" she grinned "maybe you can take my yourself, you know take me home, i can get my stuff and you can escort me to the city gates then you have nothing to worry about and I can go on my merry way'
She looked at him then, her eyes catching his and she took a deep breath "Please, I am scared, I just want to get out of here alive" her grin faded and her face looked at him with pleading in her eyes "Please, I promise not to say anything to anyone"

Caleb heard her answers. Damn. He saw her lip trembling and saw her shake her head. His eyes slid down to the ground shielding what he was thinking from her. He remembered the look on her face as those vampires had attacked her. It had resembled the horror on the face of the woman who his brother had brutally slaughtered. He had heard stories of a man that resembling him having been walking about before the Apocalypse. Some said Caleb's own brother had survived just as Caleb had.
He lost the tracks he had been following. He had nearly caught up to his brother when the Apocalypse had deterred him from his goal. He hadn't heard anymore stories after the Apocalypse though. Was his brother still alive or dead? How many had he brutally slaughtered? He blinked returning back to the woman he was holding in his arms.
She tried to shove him off but he wasn't letting her. She obviously needed someone to hold her. His free hand came up and slid into her hair gently as his mother had done when he was a child when she was trying to comfort him for a skinned knee or when he had a black eye from a kid that didn't quite like him. He heard her question of if Lucy were dead.
He thought it over for a moment. "I am not sure. She could still be in Styx or made it out before... Well, before. If you want me to look at the Security tapes I can. I'd need a description. But for the privacy of the patrons I can't allow you to see them." Hell he was sure that she would have seen an image of him in the room with Draven and Vince and he didn't need her seeing that. "I could call my friend and have him look about for her as well."
He continued to gently touch her as if trying to get her to calm down though his eyes closed to shield the anger he was feeling. Another woman that could have been killed. It was such a shame he couldn't tell those that should know of it to clean up the mess the vampires had done. He cleared his thoughts and opened his eyes to look down at her.
Suddenly his music came back on but it wasn't Wrong by Depeche Mode. It was Saved by a Stranger by Nadia. It was hooked to the speakers from his main office and sent music to this office as well. The soft sound of the introduction to the song seemed so soothing. "I can't let you go home. I have heard promises and yet the first chance I end up with a scar or worse."
He met her eyes as she spoke of if he was right then they would kill her. "Not a win win situation because frankly I don't wish women death." He snorted at the rebel camp being civilized. "Are you serious? You will have to hunt my kind, zombies, and more. There will be no safety there either. You'd be as safe as having a light blinking saying come kill me on it with a target sign."
He felt her pat his leg. "No, I said. Call me old fashioned but I think women should be treated better than letting them walk into the noose to be hanged even with their own choice." He met her eyes. "You will be fine. Have I not even offered you food and drink? Am I hurting you right now? Have I made any move to attack you thus far?"
He let her go and stood up. "Do you think it is so easy for me to say no? Do you not think that I wish I could turn back the clock and..." What would he have done? Let her suffer? No, that wasn't him. He began to move away and leaned against a wall. What was this feeling of not wanting to let her go? No, it was nothing. Perhaps it was the fact she couldn't be used by his compulsion... Yes, that had to be it.
"Besides I need to figure some stuff out dealing with you... What is your name? My apologies. I should have learned it but it seemed that we never had the opportunity..." What name could he give her? His real name? In a manner of speaking. He'd give her his last name. At least then he would always know it was her when she called him by it.
A slow smile came but soon disappeared just as quickly. "You can call me Vyne. Like a vine. Many say I take root and my reach is far but am planted firm in my ways and actions." He brought his hand to his stomach so his arm would go across his stomach and bowed low. "Milady, Vyne will be at your service. But what do I call one such as yourself? By one..." Yes, his charm slid off his tongue like sweet candy.
"I mean a beautiful woman. Perhaps Avalbane..." The name slid off his tongue in Gaelic perfectly. "It means White Orchard. Or Isla which means Island. Or..." He let a grin come to his lips as he met her eyes straightening as the name slid of his tongue like honey. "Kyla... It means Lovely. Yes, I think Kyla suits you best." Oh yes, many women had said he had the Devil's own tongue.

"Vyne" she repeated as if confused "That is an unusual name" she smiled slightly as though the simple act of sharing names, that minor social convention, had somehow made things more comfortable.
His charm and suave confidence was not lost on her and she found herself blushing at his words, her heart quickening slightly. She cast her eyes down to the floor and struggled to hide her rosy cheeks.
"Autumn" she stammered "umm not Kyla although that is a pretty name" she took a deep breath realising she was babbling like an idiot. She looked up and met his gaze, his steely eyes seeming soft and smiling and very much attractive despite the fact he was a blood drinking vampire who had attacked her.
"My name is Autumn" she repeated a little harder than she intended but anything to try and calm her pulse. Realising she had been short with him she added a smile "Its not a flattering name and has no special meaning at all but its what my parents called me"
She started to think about how if she got him to leave her alone, maybe she could find a way to escape, to get out of this god forsaken place. She blinked a couple of times as she formulated her plan, each time her eyelids getting lower and lower. Eventually she yawned.
"I am tired" she murmured with closed eyes "It must be late" she opened an eye to peak at him as she added "And I have lost a lot of blood"
She snapped her eye shut and yawned again when she opened her eyes she made a show of struggling to stand, yawning and rubbing her eyes, she swayed lightly on her feet.
"Please" she murmured "I need some sleep, I am so tired. Where can I lay down?"
She looked around the room, not really glancing at the furniture but more checking for windows and doors. "I am safe to sleep here" she looked at him with a worried face "You will make sure I am safe?"

Caleb heard her repeat his last name and should have groaned but looked almost impassive. Vyne he had supposed was the best name to use in this case since most didn't know it but how long had it been since he had used it? Since he had been human? Yes, about then. His friends would say that it sounded like a plant life. But then they saw his sword fighting and said that his sword was like a vine that extended from his hand. He missed those friends but he had grown apart from them when reality had set in. When he couldn't even trust his brother. But somewhere deep down he had liked it slipping from her lips.
He watched as she looked down as if suddenly shy at what he had said of naming her. He heard her speak of her name and gave a slight grin. "Autumn. Quite beautiful in itself. Who needs another name when you have the best of all? A beautiful time of year when the leaves turn different colors and are rare to be seen the same colors." He spoke after she had corrected him harder on her name. It was quite strange to be talking to like this.
"Trust me my name is far from flattering. Even more so the names I have been given are not very flattering either." He saw the smile and gave a slight shrug. Her being short with him didn't bother him really. He was indifferent to much going on about him. He didn't care if people were short with him at all. He watched as she began to yawn. He heard her words and his eyes sparkled with amusement. He watched as she made a show of trying to stand up as she yawned and rubbed her eyes.
He knew she was faking it. No one rubbed their eyes anymore. What a horrible fake acting it was too! He watched as she looked around but noticed she wasn't looking at the furniture at all. How interesting. He went towards her as he pulled off his jacket and sent it flying to the empty desk. Everything he needed was locked up tight in another office. This was his quiet room really.
He unbuttoned a couple buttons on his shirt before he pulled the shirt from his pants and then pulled the shirt up and over his head. He pulled his arms free and dropped it to the ground before looking at her. "I am feeling quite taken with being tired myself. Perhaps we should take a little nap, yes? I am sure you wouldn't mind using me as a pillow for your head. Wouldn't do for you to be hurting and all. And with me being here you will be as safe as a babe in their own bed."
He proceeded to move to the couch and lay down fully. When he laid down every muscle in his body moved as if showing that he wasn't just fit but strong. His scars clearly visible from the times he fought as a human. He opened his arms to her as if daring her to go back on what she had said of being tired and faking it. "You might as well lay down here. Not much else to do." He felt like a heel but it didn't matter now. He had already taken her prisoner.
