The midnight hour was drawing near but all that shined was being laid on the line. People seemed to be enjoying their Friday night, the beginning of the weekend. Many had just been paid their weekly credits, and they were happily tolling them away on the various games, but of course the favorites always being black jack and the slots. Show girls, burlesque women perused the floor selling top dollar cigars cigarettes and shots of various colored drinks. People were honestly enjoying throwing their hard earned cash on such a meaningless thing. Or at least that is was Aedyn viewed from a stationary position along the wall.
Standing only five foot four with a body built to entice and lure a man, or a woman to their doom. She was dress for the night in seven inch stilettos a white with black lace trimmed teddy that flowed into a short white skirt with matching black lace hem, a large black ribbon was bowed at her lower back, the long tassels nearly sweeping the floor behind her, and of course a fun black fedora. Her skin looked like it had been painted with a thin translucent shimmer of powder , with ascents of thin scaling along her shoulders thighs and outsides of her arms as well as her cheek bones on her face. The scales caught and fractured the light that struck directly and cast small rainbows about her. And finally long black curls rolled over her right should in silky mass reaching her hip in a tidy manner.
Aedyn Karsis, a beautiful wall flower if there ever were one. Her silvery green eyes went from the people around her to the ceiling fixtures of decadent warm lights. Most thought her appearance was but a costume, but in truth she was a Djinn and a cleverly hidden one at that. Because what better a way to hide something, then in plain sight. Or at least that was what she’d figured when she arrived in New Vegas. It was truly only her third week working here at the Fremont Hotel. And so far so good, no one had realized what she was. She’d hidden her runic symbols with simple enough glamour and had taken on a time slot for shows Thursday through Tuesday. Sure she only got one night of the week off but what the hell else did she have to do.
Her fingers danced lightly across the large silver chain that hung around her neck to the rustic bronze medallion hanging just bellow her collar bones. She hadn’t had a master in some time… She sighed feeling the desperation of those around her, all looking to win it big and fast. Greed… she despised the thing, but sadly being a Djinn she also felt hollow, useless, and desperate when she was without a master for to long. Her and her kind’s punishment for not having helped out in the beginning of the universe. She rolled her silvery green eyes and sighed. What the hell she was only but a new born when that shit went down… when would she be ungrounded…
She nearly giggled at the thought she’d just had, but was caught when a slot machine started wailing victory to a young man, and at the exact time someone at the Black Jack tables jumped up and started whooping it up. Aedyn sighed and dropped her face into a hand and rubbed her temples with sharpened black nails, she needed to focus more carefully around so many mortals.
That was when she felt the chill skittering up her spine, a cold presence was near her and it gave her the willies. Or was she misinterpreting that sensation all together. None the less, she knew a vampire was near and their eyes were glued to her. “Well this is going to get interesting…” She whispered to herself remaining calm to all those who might be watching her, as if nothing were amiss.
