Gavin deliberated in his head all the reasons why their paths never crossed. It was most likely because he never went to Gran’s humble abode between the hours of dusk and dawn. When he did go, it was usually right around the time when the sun was peaking over the mountainous horizon, when Gran was usually the only one stirring in the still and quiet house. He didn’t like people to see him there. It drew too much attention to Gran and the poor destitute transient mutants she was always trying to help get on their feet. He would quickly pop in to give her supplies, she would then reward him with some kind of home baked treat and a kiss on the cheek like a real grandmother would. He loved that. It made him feel like he had a real family, a grandmother’s love. However, she was everybody’s Gran. Visiting when he had her all to himself made her solely his Gran, even if it was for a fleeting moment.
He brought himself back to the present with a thoughtful, “Hmm.” Then played it off as if it was some great mystery they would never discover the answer to, “I think you would have a blast. And its more like I’m the only one moving. Everyone is frozen in time while I fly by.” He shrugged his broad squared shoulders and gazed up at the monumental tower she was staring at with awe and wonder. He let out a small guffaw of laughter. “Of course I go up there. That’s my office and where I live.” He folded his arms in front of his finely muscled chest and grinned smugly, his pulchritude was a testament to the homely that looks can help one soar to further heights when accompanied by whit and charm, “No rotting zombie maw is ever going to chew on old Gavin McMahon.”
“Come on, we rigged up a pulley system, like the elevators in the casinos, one of our professors worked on some of the elevators in the newer casinos when they were being constructed.” He explained as he strode toward the door of the massive, half-ruined white building whose facing was chipped and decayed. Above the treetops, the structure raised bright and clear against the pale blue of the desert sky. The gravelly rusticated masonry under the battered white enamel paint showed signs of chipping and cracking. If one looked closely, they could see that many of the cinderblocks were replacements and new rebar was in place.
This part of the building was a patchwork of repairs that were made as supplies became available through a gambling win, an outright purchase or in some cases theft. Even the clear glass double doors were new. The afternoon sun reflected blindingly across its surface as Gavin pulled the door open and entered the building. The sound of children running in the corridors, squealing and laughing echoed through the building. Gavin dodged out of the way of two small children with a move that was a cross between a waltz and a dodge. “Don’t make me talk to your Dad!” he called after the running little hellraisers who each waved with a tentacle like tail with the tiny little hand on the ends that stuck out from under their clothing. They were still giggling while they trotted along. “Those are going to come in handy some day.” He snickered at his cleverness and waved at the children’s backs as they disappeared around a corner. “This way.” Gavin strode down the corridor, following the sign that said ‘Elevator: Authorized personnel only.’
The elevator doors were like a freight elevator from the 1940’s. Thick antiquated wooden slats made up the bulk of the door with a space between each that gave it the feel of a cage of sorts. The frame of it was obviously some sort of metal alloy that made it light weight but durable. Gavin grabbed the bottom handle and pulled it up. The loud creak was an ominous sound but it probably just needed to be oiled soon. He stepped onto the elevator and looked at Liz inquisitively. “Are you coming, Kid?” he asked curiously.

Lizzy couldn't help but wonder what it would truly feel like as he described it. Her mouth quirked into a grin and her eyes were brightened in interested. Now she only wondered when she could do so. As he laughed she turned her full attention back to him and listened as he spoke of his office and living there. She couldn't imagine living so far above everything. Liz was eager to see what the view was like from so high up. He must be able to see everything from way up there. As he mentioned the Zombies she chuckled.
"They are far to stupid and slow to catch most people, you'd be like a.. " she paused searching for the right word and then grinned. " a Zephyr blowing through them."
She followed close on his heels not wanting to lose him and tried to take in everything at once. As he explained the elevators her eyes widened again. They only had the stairs in the apartment she shared with Adam and four stories up was sometimes tiring when one was caring a arm load of groceries or anything else for that matter.
The sound of children held her attention and she peered around him, just in time to stand still as two little ones came barreling through. She blinked a few times at what she saw disbelieving it for a moment and nodding slowly as he mentioned they would become handy one day. She'd never saw a child like that or really any other mutants for that matter but her brother, though knew that there were others. She'd drawn a few of them in her time but none like these young seemingly carefree ones. Seeing them though made her realize that, it was truly safe here. Was the only thought that she could form as she watched him give the children a last wave.
Speech was beyond her for a few moments and she only nodded as Gavin moved down a hallway. She glanced at the sign and kept up with his long strides, best she could. He was after all almost a full foot taller then she was. As they reached the doors of it she began to worry her bottom lip a little. It didn't look at all like what she'd imagined, it was much more bigger. Lizzy startled slightly at the noise he made pulling the door open. But Gavin's ease with the contraption set her mind at ease and she knew it would be alright.
She knew in her heart of hearts that this wasn't where she was going to get hurt or in trouble, her gift had already shown her that much. So she nodded an stepped into the box with him. "Does it take long to get to the top? I really can't wait to see what your view is like.. you must be able to see all of Vegas from up there. Can you touch the clouds" She asked unable to contain her curiosity about the top of the tower.
It only reinforced her recent thoughts of having to get out more. Adam kept her to much in that stuffy apartment and she was itching to explore the world a little. One could only learn so much from the few books he'd given her. They were treasured to be sure but were of subjects and things that no longer existed any more. The world had changed to drastically with the Apocalypse and one needed to get out and see it with their own eyes. As they started to move slowly upwards she grew a little nervous about telling him all of their secrets. Elizabeth knew though that she had to help Adam as he had helped and protected her. The vision of him being found by that vampire lady made her inwardly shiver. She couldn't let that happen to her brother, she just couldn't . One way or another she was going to change the future and if getting help from Gavin was what it took then that is what she'd do.

((Posted by Thor for Gavin))
“A zephyr? More like a tornado.” Gavin laughed. “When I escaped from New York as it became engulfed in flames, my wake left a path a meter wide in the thousands of Zombies that were converging on the city. But by the time they smelled me, I was long gone.” His laugh was uneasy at the memory where his childhood died and his adulthood began.
Gavin closed the door and pressed a button signaling the guy in the generator room that the lift needed to be raised to his office. A cracked and staticky voice came over the speaker, “Going up, Boss.” Gavin gripped the hand rail and closed his eyes at the lift jerked upward. Suddenly music filled the air. Strangers in the Night played softly. “Haven’t you found where that came from yet?” Gavin complained, “Now that’s going to be stuck in my head all day!” he whined but still did not open his eyes.
“Sorry boss, I cant find the source, I have someone working on it.” The voice returned. “You got someone with you or do you want me to talk to you?”
Gavin’s knuckles were white as he gripped the bar tighter. “Nah,” he said nervously but obviously trying to sound casual, “I have a friend with me, carry on.” His voice was an octave higher and he had broken out into a cold sweat. “It’s all good, I’m fine.” He added more for personal comfort than as conversation. He swallowed hard and forced his eyes opened then faked a smile at Liz. “See, everything is fine.” He never knew why the elevator ride always effected him this way but he was not about to let his fear beat him.
Gavin was happy for the conversation though. “Yeah, I can see it all, the view is fantastic.” He closed his eyes again as the lift lurched slightly and then gripped the rail tighter. He absently began humming the song that was playing over the speaker, realized he was doing it and stopped. The trip seemed to last an eternity but when the box jerked to a stop, he was suddenly at the gate, opening it, disappeared and reappeared in the middle of an enormous round room. His attitude and demeanor instantly reverted back to his cool, calm, collected self. He threw his arms out and smiled, “This is it, my pad.” He announced.
The room was walled only with steel reinforced windows that showed everything around New Vegas for hundreds of miles on a clear day. There were couches, lounge chairs and tables lining some of the walls, a desk and chair centered near the windows, refrigeration units and locked cabinets near the elevator and clothing scattered around a bed on the other side of the room.
Gavin walked over to one of the refrigeration units, opened it and retrieved two bottles of the free clean water that the vampires produced and distributed. “Here kid, you must be thirsty.” He said as he tossed one to her, “Come on in.”

Lizard listened, fascinated as he told of blazing a path through the Zombies. She'd never seen any of them but had heard from others what they were like. How terrifyingly mindless and stupid but relentless nonetheless. She smiled as he laughed and joined in softly as well. It would have been something to see it she thought and looked about the little room they were in.
An Elevator. She almost felt like a duck out of water.. but she'd seen these knew of them from the pictures she'd been drawing. The voice that came from the wall startled her a little and she watched with eyes widened as Gavin spoke back and then the lift started to move.
She swallowed as she wobbled all of a sudden at movement upward. The music was ok she guessed. Gavin didn't seem to like it very much. And she forced a grin as he complained about it. Her head tilted to the left as the voice asked if someone was with him or he wanted the voice to keep talking she assumed and she looked at Gavin curious as to why they would ask such a question.
He didn't appear to be enjoying the ride very much and well she could hardly blame him. It made her stomach flutter in not such a good way, but it wasn't to horrible.
"Uh you don't seem like everything's fine." She stated mater of fact like looking him over. He was holding on to the rail with like a death grip or something and just as suddenly they stopped and he was off in a flash.
Lizard chuckled and then stepped over the threshold after he was gone from the Elevator. The view was incredible. Her jaw dropped as she took in the crystal clear blue sky that stretched out farther then she could ever have imagined. She forgot him for a moment and just made her way over to one of them and looked out and then down.
Her stomach flopped, her hand covered her belly but she kept looking. It was so amazing, the people moving about what few there were. They were so tiny. No bigger then a stick figure on paper from this height. The buildings were huge and she could see the gleam of other windows that sparkled like diamonds in the sun.
She turned just in time to catch the water and smiled. "Yes, Thank you. I can't believe you even come down. It's like almost living in the clouds. away from it all." She added turning her attention back to the window. There was so much to take in from up here. Liz turned to where she thought the boarding house might be and found herself wondering if Adam had woken up yet from his late night. She sighed a little at the thought. Opening her bottle that she'd forgotten about momentarily she drank some and turned back to him.
"So I guess this is where you get the whole scoop on me and see if you can help right?" She moved over to the couch and sat down bringing her feet up under her. She'd come this far and knew that she could trust him. It was a matter of time that her and her brother would be found out. She'd already seen it. This was nothing but a means to an end really.
"My brother and I rent a little apartment from Gran. She's watched me time or two after we moved into the apartment. But mostly Adam watches out for me." She told him and paused to worry her lower lip some. "I've seen Adam get caught by a vampire woman. I can't let that happen so I'm going to trust you to help me. You can help right Gavin?"

Living in the clouds. Maybe on occasion it was like that but most of the time Gavin felt like he was alone up in his fortress of safety and solitude. He liked it that way. He was not the type to have a desire to partake in social interaction unless it involved fighting for his cause or sex. Those were the two activities that made him feel alive. Fighting for his cause was the epitome of his existence and sex was just something that made him forget his worries and woes for a brief period of time. Everyone needed a hobby. Gavin had more than one hobby. He also collected rare items. On his desk were a variety of toys and gadgets. Most of them were broken when he found them then fixed with string, glue and ductape. Ductape was a rare commodity but he had found a semi-truck that was turned on its side during one of his treks into the wastelands on a treasure hunt. The thing was filled with boxes and boxes of ductape. He could sell one roll for 1000 credits to any of the vampires who were on the repair crews in the city. He slowly brought cases into his lair one at a time. The truck was buried out in the desert now where only he knew where to find it. There was more than that out there. He had truck trailers and bunkers buried all over the surrounding desert within 100 miles that were filled with clothing, books, and many other supplies. His biggest find was the one full of toys that he gave out to the mutant children on birthdays and holidays. This was where he got his supplies and creature comfort items that were stockpiled along the walls and in the closets of his lair in the sky. "Yes, this is where I get the lowdown on you...and your brother." he informed the young girl. He was very interested in the brother since she had identified him as a mutant and that was a concern. If he were to mess up and be discovered by the vampires, it would not bode well for the other known mutants in the city. "I know you are a seer. That is the category you will be classified under but we do not keep records of seer's. The vampires would be too quick to exploit your abilities and you really do not want to be the property of King Drake for the rest of your life." he shook his head and walked over to the boxes lining the wall. He began searching for something in the plethora of faded and torn boxes that were still structurally intact. "Where is it?" He muttered to himself as he rifled through the myriad of cardboard cases. "AH HA!" he suddenly exclaimed and reached enthusiastically into a box with both hands. He took out a stack of rusted spiral drawing pads that were frayed and faded on the edges. He flipped through a couple and nodded to himself. The pages were clean and crisp on the inside. "These should do." he said to himself and to Liz. He then reached into the box next to it and pulled out a box of pencils and a box of erasers. He tucked these under his arm and went back to searching one handedly. "There it is." he said and grunted as he dragged a box away from the wall. He reached in an pulled out a case of instant coffee. "Here you go Kid." he carried the stack of items he had retrieved from the boxes and dropped them next to her. "Credits...you need credits." he said absently. His desk was situated near the windows and he paused to look out for a minute before going to the middle draw of the antiquated, gun metal gray, military style steel desk. He used a key to open it and took out a stack of New Vegas script. This stuff was good anywhere in New Vegas, unlike the chips that could only be spent in the casino's they came from. He counted out ten 100 script notes and locked the rest back up in the desk. He counted them again as he moved back to where Liz sat then handed them to her. "This should keep your brother home for awhile." he told her as he sat down. "Now, I need to know what he does. I know what you do and I know how to keep you safe but I need to know if I can get him on board with us. He is dangerous if he is using an ability to make credits. He is a danger to you and to all the mutants who come here for sanctuary." He leaned back, crossed his legs and draped his arm over the back of the couch. "I know he doesn't want that. So spill...so I can help you both."

She finished off the water he'd given her as she waited for him to answer and began to worry some about her choice.. she'd seen some of this but not the whole of it. Sometimes the visions really pissed her off. It was hard to try and decipher half of a clue without the knowledge of their world. One could not come to a logical answer when one was always kept in the dark. Adam's fear of her being found had him to keep her very close to the apartment, Ruby as well kept her out of sight when different people came into the bakery or she had her do 'chores' when she sensed others coming. It was so frustrating at times. But Gavin.. he didn't seem to be like them. Perhaps that's what the draw was. Liz hoped he wasn't gonna shut her away from everything in order to help.
His Ah-ha had her looking up sharply from her silent musings and she craned her neck to see what he held. It looked like note books.. her eyes widened at the thought of clean crisp paper to draw on to fill with the endless things she saw. She could hear the wooden click of the pencils as they hit each other and she jumped up off the couch in her excitement. Before she could step forward he was already heading back toward her dragging a case of... "Oh my god" she squeaked. The rich heady smell of coffee hit her as he neared and she sank to her knees in-front of the box he'd dropped in front of her. Unable to help herself she leaned in and inhaled deeply over the box as her cheek came to rest on top of it. It was pure heaven. She'd never smelled anything so wonderful as a whole case of coffee.. it was worth a fortune and she wasn't going to share.. at all.
As her eyes were closing in shear bliss they fell on the note books and pencils, crayons and erasers.. She gasped and snapped them up into her arms hugging them to her slight body for a second before jumping up and prancing around with them in her arms. It was like Christmas morning and she'd just been given everything she could ever have dreamed up. She wasn't going to let these thing go ever. She looked at Gavin her eyes brimming with tears of utter joy and excitement.. "I don't know how to thank you... this is.. these are mine? Really mine?" She stuttered as she clutched the precious books to her chest. The rusted metal coils digging into her arm but she didn't care one little bit.
He came back to her with a wad of credits and her eyes managed to go even bigger then they already were. Her chin quivered as she reached on hand out to take them and clutched them tightly. He spoke but it took several moments for the words to sink in and she nodded. Everything came with a price and the price of Adam's and her own safety was information. She knew this when they were coming here. Accepted it even but had forgotten momentarily as Gavin gave her all these things. Things she'd only ever dreamed of, wished for and never thought to ever get.
Liz sank down into the couch her arms never loosening her hold on the items he'd given her. With a swallow and a nod she forced herself into some small semblance of composure before giving him what he needed. "Adam can move things without touching them. Turn on the water from across the room that sort of thing.. he makes the dice tumble to the right numbers.. when he's making money for us to live on." She admitted quietly.
She knew that her brother cheated in order for them to live more often then not and hated that he had to be so dishonest. It bothered her and they had a few fights about it from time to time when he would come home and be bruised or bloody from a beating. The bookies were starting to question his constant last minute lucky winnings .. and he was getting more and more bold about which casinos he was hitting.. Her vision of him getting caught had forced her hand.
"He's not gonna want to take help from you or anyone. He's been looking out for me since he took my from the foster parents that I was living with. When I was 4 I started having the visions and they locked me in a closet because of them.. We were living on the streets till Gran took us in and helped Adam raise me, she'd babysit when he went out so I wasn't alone. But I know he's gonna get caught if he keeps going out and I don't know how to stop him. He won't listen to me about it.." She explained in a rush, the words just tumbling from her lips as she finally was able to tell someone who may be able to help them and keep them safe from being in the hands of the Vamps..
She knew what would happen if King Drake got a hold of her.. it wasn't something she wanted to ever see again. Though he'd be kind.. he'd try and force her visions and use them till she was mindless from them. That terrified her like nothing else did.

Please don’t cry! Please don’t cry! Please don’t cry! The plea played out in his head like a mantra. Gavin could never deal with a woman crying, even if she was just a kid to him, she was on the blooming end of womanhood and that was woman enough for him be attracted to physically and woman enough to make cringe at the thought of her crying. The woman who played a big part in raising him at the orphanage would use tears to get him to be careful and not take risks. Every time she cried it broke his heart and inspired him to less inclined to disobey. To this day, tears in a woman’s eyes broke his heart.
Gavin looked away so he wouldn’t see any tears and to hide the chagrin of being squeamish about it. “Yes, they are your’s, all yours. And if you run out of drawing stuff, you come to me and I’ll hook you up. Our seers need their methods of release. I have seen one man go completely insane because he couldn’t get the visions out, no matter what we tried. I’m glad you have a way to release them. And the coffee, we have found that it helps most of you focus and caffeine is good for the headache.” He tried to play it off like he was perfectly ok with her tears of joy.
Gavin listened to Liz’s description of what Adam could do and relaxed some. A good mover, who had a lot of practice was purely undetectable to the watchful scrutiny of the security in the casinos. “So he is a mover...It sounds like he has been doing this a long time. That means he has control. I wouldn’t worry about it, but you said you saw him getting caught. Let me see the drawing so I can figure out which casino he gets caught in.” He extended his rough calloused hand toward her in expectation. “You know we could use a mover around here. I wouldn’t ask him to leave the casinos completely but I can offer him some honest work, for honest pay if he wants it.”

Her body relaxed as he reassured her that the supplies in her arms and at her feet were totally her's and that there would be more if needed. She looked down at them a soft smile on her face, peaceful now that she could unload what ever vision came. Liz was already on her last notebook, she'd thought about drawing on the walls of the apartment but knew that Gran would most likely not be pleased. It didn't cross her mind that Gran would understand as she was just like that but it did stop her from doing such a thing. Gavin seemed to be fairly knowledgeable about her abilities and that was yet another relief. At least he wouldn't be down her neck about drinking coffee or perhaps something else. She gave a sudden snort at the thought of spirits and let out a little sigh, as one hand brushed away the slight dampness that gathered in the corner of her eye.
"Yes, he's a good mover but he's also stubborn and pig headed about things too." She added, with a typical annoyance often found in siblings. They were all each other had of their family and while she loved him, Lizzy found him to be quiet vexing at times too. "Ok if it will help you keep him out of trouble." Elizabeth set down her precious new supplies on top of the coffee and pulled her messenger bag across her body so she could access it better. From it she withdrew her tattered notebook and thumbed through it till she found the right drawing.
It was some what crude in it's depiction, but showed her brother facing a long table of green with dice in hand and other oblique shapes of humanoid figures around the table as well. None were given any features other then a rounded shape for a head and sloping shoulders that signified that they were a person. The most detailed aspect of the picture was the woman behind Adam, she had long black hair flowing down her back. Her chin was tilted upwards and one could see the aloofness that she carried herself with. Her eyes were almond shaped and sharp not missing anything. The only other distinguished markings were the pattern of the carpet in the bottom part of the drawing. It was dark blue with white lines and black diamonds running across it. ((Taking total liberties here as I do not have any clear descriptions of any of the casinos other then they are filled with casino things. As for the woman... I hope some Vamp will play along ;D ))
She pulled her bottom lip in and worried it with her teeth, as she waited for him to study the picture and hoped that he would be able to discern which casino that it was. Having never been anywhere near the casino's of New Vegas Elizabeth was frustrated that she didn't know which one it was. She knew with a certainty that she would more then likely never enter any of them in person either unless something changed or the future was altered. This was the right course to be on, she was most certain of it now. But, things always changed. Free will was something no one had control over and fate could be a really big pain in the ass.

Gavin knew there was little time to decide what to do since the vision had already been seen. Adam was going to get caught if they did not make a move soon. There were many ways to keep him out of the casino's but Gavin hoped to keep him out of it by his own choice. He recognized the pattern in the carpet and if that particular councilwoman caught Adam cheating in her casino, he would never step away from that table alive.
"Ok Kid, here is what we have to do." he strode back to his horde of supplies and grabbed two backpacks. He walked back over to her and dropped them on the table next to her supplies. "Pack up, we need to get back to Gran's before Adam does so he doesn't know you spent the day with me." he told her as he went back to his desk and filled his pockets with credits. "I need to build a level of trust and I can't do that if he is busy trying to punch me in the face for something I didn't do with his little sister." He didnt know that Adam would do that, he just knew that is exactly what he would do if he had a sister and she spent the day in a strange man's apartment.
He quickly made his way back to the elevator and signaled for it to come back to the top floor. "I think with a little help from Gran, we might be able to talk some sense into him. He knows about your visions so he wont question whether it will come true, but that doesn't mean he wont try to beat the odds. He is a gambler after all."

Unwilling to part with the art books, Lizard stuffed them into her messenger bag. It was fill to almost overflowing but she wasn't letting the books go. She began packing up one of the backpacks that Gavin dropped and drew back with a puzzled look. "Why would he punch you in the face? He's not violent.. much. That whole lover not a fighter thing." She added with a roll of her eyes. Adam thought he was a hunk, he was good looking she guessed in a older brother sort of way. When ever he did let her out of the apartment he flirted with any girl he happen to see. Lizard didn't think her brother would be mad if Gavin could help them. Least she hoped he wouldn't be.
"I hope Gran can talk to him. Your right about that, he'll listen to her at least.. well I hope he will." She stuffed the last canister of coffee into the now bulging backpack and attempted to zip it closed. It was mostly closed but the seems were stretched tautly. Standing she slung the backpack over her shoulder and staggered a little. Damn but it was heavier then she thought. With a soft grunt she shifted it to the center of her back and looked up at him.
"Well I'm a gambler too and I don't plan on losing my only family to some blood suck'en leech." She told him with more bravado then anything else. Her insides turned to absolute mush when ever the thought of him getting caught came to mind. She couldn't lose him too. Life would suck without her brother in it. Even at his worse she loved him and he'd always been there for her. He saved her once now it was her turn to do what she could.

He was in a great mood today he had been out looking for a job, but he got sidetracked when he passed by one of his old haunts and slipped inside for a bit of fun and quick pocket money, he was getting low. If he was low, then he knew that Lizzy was and that didn’t sit well in his mind. Walking down the street with a bit of a strut as he was proud of himself, he slipped into the corner store and began to peruse the shelves. Picking out several things to take home for dinner, he headed to the counter stopping he looked into the ice cream chest. Seeing that they actually had some in stock, he thought to splurge a little and surprise Lizzy with it, and yea, he wanted it himself. Smiling to the cashier, he put his items on the counter for purchase and glanced towards the door while he waited for his total. His gaze moved over the items behind the counter things that were usually hard to come by, and he saw pencils as well as new drawing pads. “Hey, Let me get those as well. “ He'd splurge a little. He knew that Lizzy would love it. Sometimes he still couldn’t believe that they had made it this far. All he had to do was keep doing what he was doing and keep her safe. Lately, he hasn't made that easy. Yes, he was probably a bit overbearing and very controlling but the truth was it scared him to death that she would leave, and something would happen. That once again he wouldn't be able to take care of her A smile formed on his lips causing his unshaven features to pull into a boyish grin. The memory of how happy she was when they had first gotten away flickered into his mind watching her lay on the ground with pastels and paper, as she drew her work ona sunny day. It was great good memory things seemed so much simpler back then. Coming around from his day dream, he smiled at the total and slipped his payment over to the woman. Taking his items, he nodded a farewell and headed out into the street. God it was hot. Pulling off his over shirt, he tucked it in the back pocket of his pants letting it hang partially out. This left him with nothing more than a tank top. His old faded and pretty beat up jeans, belt and boots. Even though he rather be laying somewhere where there was some shade or cool air he grinned and bared it for now heading home. Slowing as he passed a group of attractive females, he smoothed a hand to the tank top trying to make it look better. Slapping on his usual grin he nodded to them. “ Ladies” A wink given to him from one as he passed them. One of the girls had him do a double take. She was beautiful dark hair, great body, long legs with those nice red lips. He could take a moment right? Seeing the angle of the sun, he shook his head no thinking to himself sadly he needed to get home. He turned away to head on down the street on his way. Thirty minutes later he arrived home. Heading up to the apartment, stopping at the door, slipping the keys from his pocket and unlocking the door he headed in. The apartment was stifling and humid.“ Lizard! I’m home!”he calledout putting the bag on the counter and making a motion with his hand as it fell over the ice cream tumbling out. “Greeted with silence, he frowned. Moving to open a window to let in a breeze then heading through the apartment. “ Elizabeth!” When still no answer came he started to panic. Running to her room, he threw the door open. She wasn't there. He throughout all the apartments, he didn’tfind her. “Shit!” He shouted as he realized she wasn’tthere.“ She’s grounded! No, worse than grounded I’m going to lock her ass back in theclosetmyself!” Would he really do that? No. He was just scared to death and worried about where she could be. Was she ok? Where would she have went? WHY DID SHE NOT LEAVE A NOTE!?Hurrying out he headed to check Grans' home first without a glance back at the food. Ice cream forgotten on the counter lay half open starting to melt. __________________________________________ Adam was freaking out. He was beyond the point of freaking out. He had gone to Gran's prior to going out to hunt for his sister. When he hadn't found her there he had headed out into the burrow to hunt for her. He prayed she hadn't gone far. That search as well went without fruition. He stopped on the corner to collect his thoughts. Having gone everywhere he could think that Lizzy might be he was starting to worry that she had been hurt, or worse found. Hands shifted up brushing over his face and up still to shift over his hair. Forcing himself to breathe normally, for the moment, while he collected his thoughts. Maybe he should just go back to Gran's? Yea, she would know what to do. Turning he walked down the street with a purpose. Passing several of the girls he usually flirted with he was oblivious to their welcoming calls and taunts. Not today, he just didn't have the time for them or for that kind of thing. With a little hop in his step he hurried along at a faster pace making as quick work of the distance between him and Gran's as fast as possible. His emotions turmoil between fear and anger as he focused on getting himself back towards his starting point. Scanning the faces and the crowd of people as he went. Spotting a girl with blonde hair-like Lizzy's and she was about the right height, he jogged to her grabbing her arm and turning her around. " Where?...Oh hell I'm sorry." Releasing her as quickly as possible when he realized that she wasn't Lizard. "damn, I'm so sorry." Grimacing at her sudden pouty lips and tension that came on her face. Having scared the girl after he apologized profusely he hurried past her. He knew he had kept her locked up. This was all his fault maybe he should have been lenient on her a little more. Not tried to keep her closed up. He just didn't know what to do. Hell he didn't even have parents himself to know what to do properly. God what if she ran away? No... No Lizard wouldn't do that she knew they were all the other had. Picking up the pace he started to break out into a jog doing his best now to hurry back. She was back at Gran's by now he was sure of it. It was all ok it would be ok. If he found her, he would beg her forgiveness and never EVER keep her locked away again. His thoughts going faster than he could keep up with anything to make her happy to keep her safe. He was tired since his insomnia had been weighing on him. Lately, his fears and past failures have haunted him, and this was just going to add to the problem in his head. Boots clomped over the paved ground while he ran now. Barely dodging other pedestrians in his hurry to arrive back to Gran's.

Gavin opened the gate and stepped onto the elevator. He waited for Liz to get on and grabbed one of her packs before he pressed the button to signal the man in the control room to lower the lift. Once again he held a white knuckled grip on the handle bar as the infernal music turned on. He hated that song. It stuck in his head like sticky tape sticks to the bottom of your shoe on a summer day.
“We wont let that happen, Kid.” He began the idle chatter he needed to keep his sanity while in the elevator. “We will talk some sense into him. I need a man like him on my team. Credits and chips are not free, we have to use our abilities to acquire them, but we have safety measures in place to keep from getting caught. Some of us can make it so we aren’t seen or noticed by security and other nosey people.” He informed her. “With all the rescue missions we have had lately, I need more men on the acquisitions team.” He hugged the bar closer as the elevator car shifted and lurched. It was a normal thing for him but he never go used to it. He breathed a sigh of relief when they finally reached the bottom floor. He couldn’t get out fast enough. “I really need to install stairs.” He muttered.
He led the way outside just in time to see a shuttle arriving and jogged to catch it. He stepped up onto the platform and held the door, “Two more for the burrow.” He called to the driver who opened the door back up. “I would have hated to wait another hour.” He chuckled, “We would have had to…run.” He stepped up onto the shuttle and found two empty seats. “We should be there in about 15 minutes, Kid. Hopefully, we will find Adam there and we can get this sorted out.”

Another ride in the moving box had her shaking her head. He really didn't care for this thing at all, was all she could think of and murmured a thanks as he took one of the packs. She didn't mind his rambling as well it seemed to keep him from wigging out.
"I hope your right Gavin. Adam can be bull headed over stupid things. like letting me out once in a while.. He's going to skin my ass if you an Gran can't get him to see reason." She add with a frustrated sigh. It really sucked lately being cooped up in that little apartment. Ok so she wasn't supposed to get caught and all. She got that but really she wasn't stupid. She knew the importance of keeping a low profile and dressing down so as to not draw attention to herself. She hated the boyish clothing but it kept her from looking her true age.
As he mentioned rescue missions she smiled. Wasn't she just such a case. "Maybe I can help with those too? I'd like to help if you think I can." The lurch of the car made her stumble and she almost dropped her pack. "Yea stairs would be good.. but wouldn't that be hard to climb up and down every day?" She couldn't help but ask. He was at the very top of tower and well she wasn't sure how high it was exactly. The three flights of stairs they had to climb was sometimes a problem when it was really hot and a person was tired.
They were on the shuttle in no time and she sank down into the empty seat with a sigh of relief. While she though it would have been really cool to run. With all the goods gotten from Gavin she didn't think it was a possibility. The shuttle moved off and her thoughts grew still for a while as she watched the buildings go by. Worrying her lower lip she couldn't help but wonder just what her brother was going to do when she got home. Closing her eyes she tried to see.
Only nothing came to mind.
One of these days she'd be able to do that. Just once she'd love to be able to know what was going to happen when she wanted to know. Random visions of things she knew nothing about sucked and were useless to her. Who the hell cared if it was storm or if a dog was going to get lose. She'd seen other things too that had been a little frightening but those pictures she kept tightly locked away from even Adam or Gran. One day maybe she'd look at them again but not any time soon.
The shuttle reached the corner where Gran's Bakery was and she stood as it came to a stop. No time like the present to face the music. "Maybe he's not even home yet." she said as she got off and started walking towards the back of the bakery. Lizzy hardly ever came into the front.. there were always to many people.
Using her key she opened the back door and pushed it open with a cautious look inside. Not seeing Gran or anyone else she turned back to Gavin. "I don't think she's in here." she told him and stepped into the kitchen. It still smelled of fresh baked goodness and the evidence was cinnamon sugar muffins cooling on the counter. "Gran?" she called out hoping that she would know if Adam had been through or if he was still out.

Feet pounded the pavement as Adam hurried back towards Gran's several bare brushes with knocking over other pedestrians were his only incidents so far. He used a slight push of his mind to the two women in front of him to usher them gently out of the way they would feel as if a breeze had touched them as he ran past. " Excuse me!" His arms pumped with the movement of his legs keeping a steady rhythm and time. He was starting to get winded; there was only so much strain a well excersized body could take before it too started to take a dip toward exhaustion. As he rounded the corner, he mounted the steps and had rushed into Gran's bakery from the back which was their usual entrance. " Gran?" Calling out for her " Gran? Have you heard from Lizzy? I haven't found her." The desperation came in his voice as he started to search through the rooms for Gran. Finally finding her as he rushed up to talk, she shoved a muffin into his mouth and milk into his hand. Telling him to shush up and relax he was being over excited for nothing.
Defeated he chewed the muffin looking at her. The worry and disappointment clearly on his face as he sighed dejectedly. Chewing the muffin swallowing and then drinking the milk he made a little face he never did like the taste of the stuff unless it had something else in it. Like honey or special things that Gran did to it. The plain flavor always made him cringe. " I knew I shouldn't have kept her locked up all the time. It's just she's growing up so fast, and I'm scared Gran. I'm not going to be there when she needs me most... Or worse." He didn't want to admit that he feared Lizzy just wouldn't need him any more and leave. He didn't want to lose the only family he had left.
Adam had sat there at the counter in the back area while Gran hummed and made muffins. Sulking was something he didn't do normally, but he couldn't help it now. The muffin had been devoured like it was the last one on earth. Before he had followed her in the back room to help her with some boxes. When he thought, he heard Lizzy's voice. His head jerked up he listened closely more as he dropped the box he was holding and rushed into the other room. "Please... please..." was all he said as he came around the corner spotting Lizzy at the door talking back to someone he couldn't see just yet " Lizzy?" The worry on his face clear and several emotions rolled through him. " Lizard!" He rushed forward toward her a look of relief coming over his features as he jerked her into a hug tugging her up off her feet." Thank god! " Finally, he looked at her. " You scared the hell out of me, Where the hell have you been?!" There was the anger that came after the relief of having seen her.

She looked up and frowned as Adam rushed in all out of breath and frantic. Her heart clutched a moment getting caught up in his panic. "Slow down, now what is this about Lizzy?" Feeding him would do the trick to get him to slow down some. It always worked with her boys as she though of them.
Her head shook slowly, that girl was giving her poor brother fits. "She's not been back here yet. More then likely she is off drawing somewhere. You know how she gets. That girl is growing fast, ain't nothing going stop her." She told him frankly and kept up with what she was doing. She nodded sadly. No it would not do to keep Elizabeth locked up. Ruby was glad that he was smart enough to know it as well. He had done right by his sister. His sacrifices along the way had not been in vain.
"Now, you know sure as the sun shines she will be back when she is hungry or tired enough. Come now stop your fretting. Help me with the back room and she shall be here before you know it." She told him and hoped that for his sake it was truth.
That girl was getting right sneaky lately as she tried to flex her wings. It would not do for her to get caught. Her abilities in the wrong hands. Gran involuntarily shuddered at the thought. Perhaps she would speak to Gavin about her. It was passed time that she did so. Next time he came round she would make it a point to ask if he could help protect Lizzy and see about getting Adam out of the casinos. It was time for her chicks to leave her little nest she thought sadly. They had been apart of her boarding house for many years now. When most others came and went the pair of them had stayed.
Her head turned at the sound of someone entering the back of the bakery. Only three people besides her self did that and one of them was with her already. Adam was off like a shot calling for his sister and she smiled. Just like she said she would Lizzy found her way home. She would give them a moment before checking them.
